A superbly rendered and vividly coloured lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Kasui (1883-1957), entitled "Meguro-Fudo-Do" (Fudo Temple in Meguro). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This item has strong colours and the print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. There is some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain), and some minor yellowing to the paper from age, not affecting the image. This 7-3/4" tall tableware serving piece is stamped with the Gorham lion/anchor/G STERLING mark with 1 3/4 PINT and it has the number 14 and the Gorham year cipher for 1899. A 14k yellow gold large natural large oval opal ring circa 1970s. This vintage size 6 ring was custom made, and the colorful genuine opal gem stone section measures 1/2" x 5/8" . The carat weight calculator indicates the stone is approximately 2.4 carats as measured in setting. The flash has green and blue highlights with a nice internal red fire. The mark was too worn to read, and the ring tests as 14 K. It weighs 3.7 grams. An 18k sapphires and diamonds double row ring circa 1980. This vintage custom made yellow gold wedding band is a size 6-3/4 or 6.75 and set with either genuine blue sapphires or genuine blue spinels and diamonds. It features 12 fairly well-matched channel set royal blue gem stones in groups of four separated by two pairs of single point genuine diamonds. There is a slight variation of shades of blue in the stones, and they are fairly clear gems. The sapphires/spinels are princess cut or square cut, and are bezel set, so their size is 5-6 points each, estimated by gauge in setting. It weighs 3.1 gr. and the flat band design feels comfortable on and sits so could be worn with a solitaire ring. It measures 5/8" across the gem section and is 3/16" wide. It is stamped 750 (for 18 K ). The gem stones may be just a shade deeper blue than our photos, due to photo flash. It would make a unique wedding band for those who would like more than diamonds. An Edwardian 14k yellow gold sunburst diamond and seed pearls ring circa 1900 1910. This unusual antique ring of genuine seed pearls and a genuine diamond is in the sunburst or starburst shape popular with lavalieres at the time, it was more likely a representation of a daisy or some other flower. The sunburst has 10 petals with genuine seed pearls and it has a central claw-set 8 point (measured by flat stone gauge) genuine antique European cut diamond; the shank is stamped 14K with a JIC maker's mark. I have never seen this ring before in 38 years in antiques. It is possible that this piece was produced at a slightly later date, but the ring shank is an appropriate one for the period, and the setting is properly mounted and appears original. This ring weighs 6.3 grams, and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses or damage other than some glue residue on a couple of reset pearls (an old repair, and is restorable). The pearls have some colour variation, which is not unusual. An antique sterling silver treasure chest design trinket box, fully hallmarked for London, England 1904. This English Arts and Crafts period 3-3/4" x 1-1/2" hinged box was made by Corke Bros. & Co. It has hand hammered panels with fleur-de-lis decoration and long hinges, and it resembles a treasure or pirate chest. It has a chained pin which inserts into a loop with hasp and a tooled and mounted escutcheon on the top. The interior is gilded, and this lovely small jewel or table tobacco snuff box weighs 80.4 grams. This miniature sterling chest has no tobacco odour, but is the correct size for a table snuff box, and such boxes were usually gilded inside to prevent corrosion.
