A Bennington 19th century dog handle hunting scene large pitcher. This 10-1/4" tall pitcher has the typical Bennington mottled deep brown glaze with green and blue slip and a glazed bottom. The handle is a hunting dog and the body of the pitcher shows hanging game birds. An attractive Victorian period 15K yellow gold genuine rubies and pearls ring circa 1880s. This dainty antique size 4-1/2 or size 4.5 ring features fine sculpting and a beaded edge, two 5 point by gauge genuine rubies and three genuine half pearls gem stones. This lovely antique ring has a B&H maker's mark and the remnants of quite worn English hallmarks and it tests as 15 K. It has a brilliant intense yellow gold Roman or matte finish, which was popular at the time, as it gave the ring the appearance of 22K gold. The rubies appear a little washed out in the pictures, they are a deeper red in real life. An early Victorian 18k Socrates carnelian intaglio signet ring. This antique size 7-3/4 or 7.75 rose gold mid-19th century ring is completely hand made. It and it features a deeply carved carnelian intaglio portrait of Socrates. It is simply executed but stylish with subtle design flourishes. It measures 7/8 x 5/8" across the bezel-set intaglio gem stone. It has a full set of stretched and now obscured hallmarks - it tests as 18K. Although the stone is a substantial size, this ring in the 18thC and 19thC worn on a gentleman's pinkie finger as a pinkie ring. In order to save gold some jewellers would stretch the shank to resize the ring rather than solder another section of gold to effect the sizing and that appears to be the case here. It weighs 8.4 grams and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, it does show wear and patination commensurate with age.

A Victorian Aesthetic silver plated hot water pot by Reed & Barton 1876. This 9-1/4" tall pot is stamped with the Reed & Barton mark, the 2764 pattern number and the patent date of Feb. 1, 1876. This brown transfer plate features a view of Montmorency Fall Winter View and it has the pattern's beaver, vine and flower border. An antique 9K men's signet ring with a photo locket top. This Victorian gentleman's size 8-1/2 or size 8.5 ring features a 5/8" x 1/2" upper section fashioned from an actual Victorian hinged photo locket which has been soldered shut and engraved with an ornate Gothic GWS monogram. It has Birmingham, England hallmarks for 1864 (no Queen's head). This ring bears an inscription on the interior under the top section of WITH FONDEST LOVE LIZZIE. It weighs 6.7 grams. We have not attempted to break the solder and open it. A distinctly different unusual love token item of jewellery. This impressive and ornate English silver plate steeplechase award cup stands 8-1/8" high and 4-3/8" across and this award trophy is in the shape of a goblet or footed cup. This unmarked beauty features high repousse decoration with fruit and scrolling and it has two cartouches with engraved dedications. One side says WINNER OF R.A.C. A Vict. gp & mop fancy spring extendable watch chain. This truly unusual 12" spring-loaded expanding Victorian gold plated over brass watch chain has with mother of pearl sections. This 1/2" wide chain features engraved round links with pierced loops, round thick plain loops and designed flattened patterned loops; it also has two spring-loaded segments with mother-of-pearl inserted sections. Each spring segment has engraving and finely made pivots and channels for the expansion spring; one has what appears to be either an old repair or for some other purpose, possibly a hanging component. It has one original swivel and one that has been added later; it has no identifying marks of any kind. We haven't seen a chain of this style before, and we've seen hundreds. An excellent curiosity. A Victorian Aesthetic butterflies gilt basket with a cranberry glass bowl liner dated 1869. This antique serving piece is truly superb, from the immaculately detailed gilded butterfly basket with a swing handle to the original cranberry glass bowl with a polished base. The three feet have fine hand engraving and most unusually each of the seven butterflies has the old English diamond registry mark incorporated into the design, not added or stamped on later. Although unsigned this is a work of superb craftsmanship and the registry number dates the design to 1869. It measures 4-1/2" across and it stands 5-3/4" tall with the handle upright. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, losses, damage or repairs other than a few small areas of darkening to the gilding and a couple of very tiny edge nicks to the liner. A scarce WMF boy with snail pewter card tray circa 1900. This original period Art Nouveau oval calling card salver measures 11" x 5-3/8". it was made in Germany by WMF. WMF is the short form in current company use by the highly regarded German metal manufacturer Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik which began in 1853 in Geislingen an der Steige. This tray has the 210 embossed pattern number and WMFB 0X under the boy's hair on the back. It is all original and not a reproduction and we haven't polished it preferring to maintain the wonderful patina only developed with age (many are over-polished or have been silver plated). This late Victorian 8-1/4" bracelet is made of a piece of graduated watch chain (the links range from 5/16 to 7/16") with a non-rotating sterling swivel. Each link has an English lion silver mark and the swivel has an S.G maker's mark with a lion and k year stamp (probably 1884, possibly by Samuel Garside, a Birmingham silver chain maker). This fine Victorian pendant features a finely carved high relief portrait of Pericles in sardonyx, with the face in white and the base on a translucent reddish brown base. The 5/8 x 1/2" (sans bale) pendant is unmarked and it tests as 12k; the later 15-3/8" chain has a springring clasp and it is stamped ECCO14K. A pair of stunning hand painted and gilt metal mounted 19th century Sevres style plant pots or jardinieres. This pair consists of two French porcelain 9-1/2" diameter and 7-3/4" tall planters with white glazed interiors and painted scenes on the exterior. The scenes include floral panels and 18th century couples on a deep turquoise blue ground with hand gilding. Each pot is mounted on a footed gilt brass stand, which has two side straps with lion heads with mouth tassels. Each strap is mounted to a top beaded collar anchoring the pot to the fittings. They have a blue painted Sevres style mark and the uprights are stamped AH on the interior. Condition is reasonable considering their age, with the following issues: there is minor gilding loss, one metal arm/upright has been broken in three pieces and it has been crudely soldered and re-broken, some of the screws are replacements and one segment of one support column has been refastened on a different part of the upper collar on one pot. One pot and fittings is intact, the other needs some professional brazing and refitting of the fractured column. The pots themselves are in excellent condition with no crazing, chips, cracks or repairs other than some minor wear to the gilding and some dulling of the interior bottom glaze from use in the past. We've seen the supports offered online on occasion (rescued from broken examples) so it may be possible to replace the damaged one. This handsome matching pair is in as-described condition as stated above. A true rarity of vintage American pressed or pattern glass. This is the 5-1/4" long and 4-5/8" wide wall pocket in the Elephant or Jumbo pattern in amber glass, issued by the King Glass Co. in 1890. Variously described as a match holder, match striker, wall pocket or vase, this item has vivid and crisp detail. It is 2-3/4" deep and is guaranteed to be antique glass. Victorian cobalt glass oil lamp with etched chimney and enamel from the 1890s. This tall table lamp has a 10-1/2" deep cobalt blue base with an open cut pontil, an original Plume & Atwood Mfg. Co. 2-3/4" brass burner and collar and an etched glass 9-1/4" large glass chimney. The burner has a second 1897 renewed patent date and the burner and flat wick show no signs of use at all (no wick char or burner darkening) and there is no smell of lamp oil or kerosene. The body of the lamp has hand painted white, gold and yellow decoration with gold leaves and the chimney has a band of ribbons and torches. It stands a total of 21" tall and it is all-original and not a recent copy. A genuine Chinese late 19th century oxblood glaze classic bulbous shape vase. This vase is 9-1/8" in height and features the lovely brownish red oxblood glaze over a greyish-white ceramic body. It has fairly thick glaze at the base, which shows some frit. It has allover crazing and the surface of the glaze has fine overall pinpoint pitting from firing as well. It is unmarked and it is in good condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a small area on the upper rim where there is a dullness in the glaze and small shallow depression. (the rim glaze is mostly intact). The glaze at the bottom shows some chipping also, likely caused during removal from the kiln after firing. Some of these pieces were of lesser quality, as there was pressure to produce them to meet the export demand, even in the 19th century. Subsequently, there was less care in their production than in the finer quality 18th century pieces. That is not true of all 19th and early 20th century Chinese oxblood ware, but some pieces like this show that they were produced more quickly and with a little less care than earlier pieces produced for the wealthier in China and elsewhere. A sterling silver nutmeg grater circa 1890s. It may actually be older. This American antique 1-3/4" x 1-3/8" egg shaped sterling grater has the original interior gilt rasp and interior gilding. Nutmeg was an expensive imported spice when first introduced to Europe and to North America, and it became enormously popular as a condiment. A sterling silver nutmeg grater was a sign of prosperity, as well as indicating a great fondness for the spice, of which aficionados would grate to their own taste when sitting down to eat. Not easy to find them anymore. This antique example features fine ornate leaf hand engraving and a dedication saying Z.S.J. to M.M.J. 25th. Dec 1893. A fine Christmas gift indeed. A massive Japanese 19thC bronze jardiniere or plant holder with raised or bas-relief detail. This handsome antique signed Japanese bronze work stands 13-1/2" tall and it measures 11-1/2" across the opening. This is a large example of a classic bowl design, and it has a nice patination (appears somewhat lightened in our photographs to show detail). It features perching and flying birds and floral branches, a decorated collar with bat designs (a sign of luck and prosperity) and incised decoration. An antique 12k gold genuine rhodolite garnets and mine cut diamonds ring circa 1890 1900. This antique size 7-1/2 or 7.5 ring has four genuine true red colour garnets surrounded by twenty genuine mine cut diamonds in a classic marquise shape. This Victorian period piece is unmarked, but has been tested and is confirmed to be 12 K gold. A Kearsley Tojuque Seba snake copper plate print 1801. This fine example is of the hand colored copper plate engraved print, plate 114, titled "MOURNING SNAKE, var. Tojuque Seba.", from the original by James Heath. An authentic antique late Georgian period 15k ring with genuine pearls and natural and genuine emeralds circa 1820 1830. This beautiful size 4-1/2 or 4.5 yellow gold ring is unmarked and it tests as 15k, and it is most likely English in origin. It has a 2 mm. across natural emerald at the center and six small emeralds gem stones between the pearls, all in a flower shape arrangement. It also has pearls along the finely tooled shoulders and the grooved shank has appears never to have been sized or altered. There are naturally occurring colour variations in the pearls, but they are over-emphasized in the photo, less noticeable in real life (one pearl may be a replacement). This ring weighs 2.5 grams, it measures 5/16" across the flower head. A scarce and unique find, and a special wedding or engagement ring (would be a really fine birthday ring also!). A Georgian 12-1/8" sterling silver stuffing or dressing spoon circa 1809. This fine antique serving item is fully hallmarked for London, England 1809-10 and it is in the Fiddle pattern. Made by William Eley, William Fearn & William Chawner (registered 1808), one of the most notable families of English spoon makers. Examples with a largish bowl like this are great serving spoons for many occasions. This spoon weighs 142 grams and it has a family crest with a unicorn and the phrase "ORA ET LABORA" ("Pray and Work", the motto of St. Benedict). A 1733 Augustus II Poland death commemoration medal with a 1782 girl's birth inscription pendant. The medal itself measures 1-11/16" across and it is made of silver. It was one of a few different designs minted in Poland honoring Augustus II (12 May 1670 – 1 February 1733) who was the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. There are very few of this design (we've found only two examples) and it features a portrait of Augustus on one side and an allegorical scene on the other. This medal has a loop soldered at the top and it was inscribed to honour the birth of Barbara Ann Williamson at Worcester (England) Nov. 24, 1782. This historical artifact weighs 28.9 grams and it is in fair condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the engraving, the added loop for wear as a pendant and some moderate wear and surface marks from 283 years of existence.
