A true rarity of vintage American pressed or pattern glass. This is the 5-1/4" long and 4-5/8" wide wall pocket in the Elephant or Jumbo pattern in amber glass, issued by the King Glass Co. in 1890. Variously described as a match holder, match striker, wall pocket or vase, this item has vivid and crisp detail. It is 2-3/4" deep and is guaranteed to be antique glass. This item is in fair original condition with no chips, losses, damage or repairs other than a large internal crack below the eye and above the tusks. This crack is visible from the front and around the back and it appears to be a dividing line between the light upper glass and the deeper amber hue of the glass in the trunk. It can't be felt from the front but can be felt with a fingernail on the interior - the integrity of the piece is intact. Please note the straw mark just below the eye in the last picture (it's not a crack); this item's book value is $750 + in intact condition. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
