A 1733 Augustus II Poland death commemoration medal with a 1782 girl's birth inscription pendant. The medal itself measures 1-11/16" across and it is made of silver. It was one of a few different designs minted in Poland honoring Augustus II (12 May 1670 – 1 February 1733) who was the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. There are very few of this design (we've found only two examples) and it features a portrait of Augustus on one side and an allegorical scene on the other. This medal has a loop soldered at the top and it was inscribed to honour the birth of Barbara Ann Williamson at Worcester (England) Nov. 24, 1782. This historical artifact weighs 28.9 grams and it is in fair condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the engraving, the added loop for wear as a pendant and some moderate wear and surface marks from 283 years of existence. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $24 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. This antique serving piece is truly superb, from the immaculately detailed gilded butterfly basket with a swing handle to the original cranberry glass bowl with a polished base. The three feet have fine hand engraving and most unusually each of the seven butterflies has the old English diamond registry mark incorporated into the design, not added or stamped on later. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, losses, damage or repairs other than a few small areas of darkening to the gilding and a couple of very tiny edge nicks to the liner.
