A vintage Waterloo Academy clarinet in its original fitted 1930s-50s style hardbody case, complete with an Evette and Schaeffer France mouthpiece and six new packaged reeds. All pieces are present, all valves and springs are operational, and all pieces save the mouthpiece are stamped WATERLOO ACADEMY (possibly Waterloo, Ontario, Canada). We don't play the clarinet and we aren't sure of its key however all pieces appear to be present. The horn appears to be in very good condition with a patina from use but no breaks or repairs, and the case has been repaired in brown tape. A Robert Allison Scottish sterling silver and genuine citrine round pin or brooch with a Greek key design. This vintage 1-1/2" round brooch is fully hallmarked for Edinburgh probably 1958 (we think - the date stamp is difficult to make out). This pin has a safety clasp and the citrene has been checked to verify that it is a genuine gem stone and it weighs 15.0 grams. These stones are sometimes referred to as smoky topaz, but they are actually a light brown citrine. The shoulders have a twisted rope design and this ring weighs 2.6 grams. A 10k opal and rubies oval circlet ring from the 1950s - 1960. This vintage size 7 yellow gold ring features a wonderfully colorful and flashy 70 point genuine opal (calculated by gauge) which has orange, green and blue fire (only hinted at in our pictures). It is surrounded by 14 genuine round cut rubies and the setting measures 1/2" x 3/8" across. This is a classic gem design that has endured through centuries, and the rubies and oval opal enhance each other. Please note that the rubies are a slightly darker red colour than they appear in the photo (on our viewer, anyway). This ring weighs 2.5 grams, it has an obscured maker's stamp and tests as 10K or slightly higher. There is no 10 K mark, possibly the ring was sized and that mark was lost. Opal is the birthstone for October and July is ruby. One of the claws for the opal is a repair, and the opal sits about 1/32" out of alignment due to this. It is in otherwise excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. Ring tested for gold content and gems confirmed on a gem tester and viewed under magnification. A superbly rendered and atmospheric lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), titled "Ikegami Honmonji Temple" (Honmonji Temple in Snow). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red lifetime seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red-painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. The frame has some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain). There is some minor browning to the paper not affecting the image. Please note we have a similar print from the same period also available.
