A sterling silver cherubs brush mirror & comb set 1890 to 1900. This wonderfully ornate Victorian period set consists of the 10" x 3-7/8" mirror, the 9-3/8" x 2-1/2" brush with natural bristles, and the 7-5/8" long comb. Each is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and they have the Thomas Hayes maker's mark; the brush year hallmark is 1890, the comb year hallmark is 1898 and the mirror year hallmark is 1900. It is quite normal for these sets to have slightly differing dates on the various pieces from the same firm, as they were assembled into sets for sale from existing stock, and sometimes pieces were purchased over time. All three have a script BETH monogram, and they are in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor edge denting to the brush, and the replacement of the comb with a recent plastic one and a soldered repair to the mirror at the handle/mirror join. The original bevelled mirror is in fairly good shape also, which is not always the case. 2 pc. Gaudy Welsh Pearl White ironstone items 1820-50. This pair of early to mid-19th century Gaudy Welsh tableware pieces includes the 5-1/2" milk jug and the 7-3/4" across ten-sided plate. Both have floral hand painted designs; they have both copper and pink lustre with green leaves and flow blue decoration. They both have a painted 316 pattern number and the plate has an impressed PEARL WHITE mark. An ornate Victorian SP ink stand with ink pot, drawer and pen rest 1860. A wonderful mid-Victorian silverplated ink stand with a Feb. 20, 1860 registration date. This 11-1/2 x 7-1/2" stand features a pottery inkwell in a domed lidded brass holder mounted on the deck, which also has a brass pen rest. Besides the ornate hand-engraving, it also has a copper military button mounted with a screw and bolt. The shoulders have a high relief vine and berries design and it has scroll feet. It has a sliding drawer with pen and paper compartments as well, and it has the British registration key and the PP&S maker's mark for Padley, Parking & Standforth of Sheffield, England (operating from 1855-80). A 19thc English terracotta enamelled wine carafe & slide. A pair of antique Dutch china wedding bowls circa 1865. This nice set of wedding bowls dates to 1865 and they were made to commemmorate the wedding of Dirk Hoogedorn to Agije Brink on April 30, 1865. An early 19thC blue saltglaze pitcher. This high relief early to mid-19th century 6-1/8" tall salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug has an allegorical scene with grapes and vines; it is unsigned and it has a nice medium blue colour. This item is in very good condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a firing crack around the bottom of the handle (original to the firing), a chip on the upper rim (with glaze infill, possibly later) and a barely visible shallow underglaze star crack on the bottom which doesn't interrupt the glaze or go through to the interior. A matching English ironstone 8-3/8" tall teapot and eight 4-5/8" petit four plates, all with a tea or tobacco leaf variant in gold with gold trim. The teapot has some relief design on the feet and near the top, and the petit four plates have twelve sides. This expertly decorated Meiji period 19th century 4-3/8" across and 1-7/8" tall Japanese Satsuma bowl features a cobalt blue ground with lush gold highlights inside and out. A decorated 19thC copper lustre child's cann or mug. This vintage mid-19th century 2-1/2" high decorated copper luster mug features a relief beaded rim, lovely metallic copper luster, a blue band with leaf decoration and a white interior with a pink lustre interior rim. It is unmarked and it has a pink lustre brush wipe on the interior, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than an overglazed flat spot on the bottom rim and some craze lines on the interior bottom only. the luster is a consistent deep rich copper colour from top to bottom, unlike in our photos which show reflection from the towel. An evocative and well-painted framed 22-1/4" x 14-1/2" (sight size) English oil on canvas by Charles Cattermole (R.I., R.B.A., R.O.I. 1832–1900). Entitled "The Patrol's Return" on a mounted plaque on the 31-1/2" x 24" wood and plaster frame, this painting is signed CHAS CATTERMOLE on the lower right. The back has a Toronto gallery label from 1949 and the canvas is numbered 908 on the back. The image is clean with full colours and a glossy surface (and was most likely cleaned and revarnished in the not too distant past), and it is in excellent condition with no losses or damage to the canvas however there is moderate but noticeable plaster loss to the frame. Aubrey Beardsley The Yellow Book with 3 volumes available (priced each). This is a group of three of the famous English illustrated quarterly called The Yellow Book. This late 19th century series featured art, essays, discussions, poetry and criticism. They were 8-1/4 x 7" hardbacks in yellow and featured artistic cover illustrations as well as inserted plates, including illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley and others. Offered here is Volume 1 April 1894 Second Edition, with four Beardsley illustrations as well as the cover, 272 pages (excluding end advertisements and lists). An extremely fine late 19th century natural shell cameo mounted in 12K yellow gold circa 1890. This large 2-1/8" x 1-3/4" cameo features a beautifully hand carved left-facing portrait of a lovely woman - her hair is shown with a most unusual wind-swept appearance, really graceful and remarkably realistic. A superb sterling silver repousse locket and engraved chain dated 1884. A fine example of sumptious Victorian sterling silver craftsmanship! This 2-1/4 x 1-5/8" sterling silver photo locket has a complex design and inset rose and green gold highlights on the central flower. It has a full set of Birmingham, England silver hallmarks on the undecorated side corresponding to the year 1884, and it has an I.H maker's mark. This pendant includes the ornately hand engraved 18-1/4 x 5/8" flat-link chain necklace, which has a large springring catch. This necklace weighs 53.4 grams, and it is in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses or damage except for some fine denting on the plain back, tool marks from the flattening of some dents and some identifying symbols on the interior. Please not that although this locket closes firmly it shows a slight gap on the edge when closed (probably from the dent removal work).
