A Webster sterling silver swing handle candy or bonbon basket from 1900. This Queen Anne style basket has an openwork handle, a gadrooned design and a script GDH monogram in the interior. An attractive 19thC American (or Canadian) pattern or pressed glass stoppered decanter with what appears to be an double leaf motif (one over the other) not dissimilar to a maple leaf. This 9-1/2" tall (with stopper) blown-mould decanter retains its original stopper; the detail and relief are sharp and well defined, and this unusual piece, whose maker and pattern unknown to us, is in excellent original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some chips to the bottom of the stopper (see image). A 19th c. hand painted toleware large tray. This decorative, vintage and stunning handpainted and signed large toleware display or serving tray dates to around 1860. This 24-3/8 x 19-3/4" painted metal tray features a large central basket of colourful and varied flowers; it has a floreate stepped edge and the G. J. Rudolph artist's signature. We have been unable to get any information on this artist, however the painting is superb. A Victorian 15k diamond hair brooch circa 1870. This great example of Victorian period sentimental or mourning hair jewellery is in 15k yellow gold with a centrally set genuine 12 pt. rose cut diamond and a compartment on the back containing a curl of blonde hair with a silk cord. The brooch is unmarked but tested and is guaranteed to be gold, and the diamond has been checked with a gemologist. The hair compartment on this 1-7/8" x 1-1/8" pin has the original bevelled glass, and this pin weighs 9.2 grams. The original c-clasp is still present, and it has a small loop for a safety chain (not present). An attractive and well made hand-blown pair of early-mid Victorian stoppered glass liquor decanters. These matching 11-3/8" decanters have some hand cutting on the shoulder ribs and they retain their original blown and cut stoppers. A 7-1/2" German or Austrian porcelain hand painted figurine of a bugler. This mid to late 19th century figure features fine hand painting with gold, orange, blue, tan and realistic flesh colours; it is in a style similar to Heubach figures, but many European factories of this period were producing such figures, and it has a shiny rather than matte glaze. A 19thC framed watercolour picture of a child 1860-80. This late Victorian period unsigned framed water color on paper is a piece of early memorial folk art and it was possibly made by a family member as a reminder of a deceased child, with typical muted colours and austere pose. This Victorian picture is a lovingly made piece, most likely a memorial painting, with a hand-cut deep red velvet mat, a gilt paper mount from a photo-album page and a black and gilt frame with applied brass Coptic crosses in each corner. The image alone measures 5-1/2" x 4" (sight size), the frame is 14" x 12", and it has a unique back closure - a cut wood ruler screwed to the frame with brass screws (later addition, and removable). A 19th century Rococo revival silver plated ornate wine bottle stand/carrier c1875-80. This two bottle stand has a Gothic railing surrounding the bottle section, and a handle adorned by the three Graces with birds on the handle. The base has naturalistic slightly rococo flowers and leaves. It measures just over 12 inches in height, and the base measures 12" x 5-1/8". The handle can be unbolted from the base for easier polishing. There is a spot near the base at the bottom of the handle which appears to have been re-soldered professionally at some point in the past, and one spike is missing from the Gothic railing (and a few others are slightly bent). It has been lightly polished and much of the original plating is intact (you can finish polishing it if you wish). A Victorian Aesthetic brass dress hem lifter circa 1880. This unusual Victorian design object was made to hold up the hem of a lady's dress. It sounds a little risque, but sometimes you preferred those long skirts not to be near water or mud, as is only sensible. In the Aesthetic design popular at the time (and swans certainly were popular), this solid brass clothing accessory clamps the bottom of the lady's dress with the tongs, which are locked in place by the sliding shield-shaped housing. A cord looped through a (now missing) brass loop at the top of the slider is pulled to raise the hem of the floor-length skirt. An unusual matching pair of early 19th century carved shell cameo pierced earrings c1820-40. This 7/8" x 3/4" pair is mounted in gilt brass, and they depict two different and facing male Greek mythological or classical figures. A lovely mid-Victorian piece of hair jewellery in 10k yellow gold c1860-80. This 1-3/4" x 1-3/8" pendant features a fine hand engraved (unmarked but tested) gold surround with a central concave transluscent moonstone agate, on which is mounted a gold-bordered hair insert. The insert and surround are bolted to the agate with hand-cut bolts, and it retains the original finely braided black hair, bezel and glass window. This item has been converted to a pendant, with a loop attached through a small drilled hole; the hinge for the pin remains and it could easily be converted back to a brooch with the addition of a pin and catch. An impressive Regency period 15k gold long necklace with ornate slide c1830-40. This superb example measures 62" long, it has a large well-made slide with black enamel, and it is constructed of double pulley-style interlinked gold loops. The 1" across and 1/4" thick slide has an engraved L. Gordon inscription on one side; it is unmarked and unsigned but tests as 15k gold. The slide has holes where a scarab or possibly a cameo was mounted (and another piece of your choice could be mounted on it), and it weighs an impressive 59.0 grams (almost 2 ounces!). A 9k gold double scarab beetle brooch circa 1870-90. This scarce mid-Victorian 9k yellow gold bar pin has two claw-set real green scarab beetles. Anything Egyptian was all the rage at this time, and this 2-1/4" x 5/8" brooch is typical. The beetles are real, they are a chrysomelid, also known as a tortoise beetle. This pin has the original 19thC safety pin-style catch, it is stamped 9Ct and it weighs 3.7 grams; it has a loop for a safety chain and it is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than some minor losses to the head of one beetle. An exquisite and original Victorian watercolour botanical study in its original mahogany frame c1860-70. This oval section of the painting measures 9" x 7", and it is a watercolour painting of a moss rose. It has a double mat (possibly original), and the 17" x 15" reeded edge frame has the original patterned gilded interior frame and it has the original 19thC glass. It is unsigned but of lovely quality, and the watercolour is in excellent original condition with no rips, scrapes, fading, foxing, stains, losses, damage or repairs other some slight darkening of the paper. There is an irregular look of the finish in each corner of the frame, which most likely was from someone removing some corner decorative pieces to the frame (leaving a slight roughness to the surface at each corner) and some browning to the mat, which has a pale olive green colour unlike our photographs. There is also a long sliver chip to the frame, visible to the left side of the bottom of the frame. Please note the light reflections in the closeup - these are not creases in the paper, but only a reflection of the photography. A pair of German 800 silver viande serving forks in the original box. This elegant and high quality pair of 800 silver German 8" viande or meat serving forks are in their original fitted box and they date to the 1900 1910 era. These forks are stamped 800 with the crown and eagle mark (Frankfurt, pre-1888), most likely produced by Bruckmann and Sohne (1805-1973). The forks are an interesting combiation of elegant Neoclassic revival design paired with the elements of Jugendstil - note the graceful and simple fork shape and crisp design to the ends of the handle. The 9" x 3-1/2" box is a tan coloured watered silk with a Greek key border and bronze coloured fittings with a patterned silk interior lid and cotton fitted platform with twisted cord trim. The forks weigh a substantial 83 grams, and they have traces of the original gilding. Lovely quality silver. An attractive Victorian period china jardiniere, c1880s. It has a repeating somewhat Art Nouveau floral motif, the flowers look a bit like poppies or anemones, all in blue transferware with occasional splashes of gold. It measures 5-3/4" in height and the opening measures just over 5" across (opening only, does not include the wavy rim). Although it is unmarked, which happened more frequently before 1891, it is almost certainly English in origin. A Sevres style hand painted portrait plate from the 19thC signed Amblet. This late 19thC cabinet or display plate is 9-5/8" across and it features fine gilding, a scalloped edge with high relief gilt vines with a pink ground and a beautiful signed free hand painted central portrait of a pretty young woman picking flowers. The plate has the genuine three part Sevres marks, which include the Louis Philippe 1844 mark (this mark actually dates to the late 19th century), the Chateau de Tuileries wreath and the S. 37 in lozenge year date. The portrait is signed F. A pair of 8-1/2" sterling silver serving spoons in the Strasbourg pattern, introduced by Gorham in 1897. A Victorian jet bracelet with carving circa 1870-80. This genuine (tested) jet carved bracelet is in the Aesthetic style. It has elastic cord threading (re-strung)and it has a staggered orientation of the band's panels (possibly strung differently originally). The 1" across top panel and two flanking panels both have decorative carving, the rest are plain polished. A gray transfer covered sauce dish. This early unsigned English covered footed sauce dish dates to circa 1830-50. It has classical scenes and an oak leaf border as well as sculpted handles and feet, all with gray or grey transfer decoration. It is marked only with an impressed P underneath. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some fine overall crazing, three tiny glaze flakes on the lid's rim (two at the opening for the ladle) and a pinpoint burst glaze bubble or small chip on the lid rim (see pic). An early magenta transfer cup and saucer from the 1830s-1850s. This nice early example of transferware is a 2-3/8" high footed cup and matching 6" saucer with a fine magenta (purple/red) colour floral transfer with handpainted highlights. It has a painted 2/441 pattern mark and a formed fluted column design. The saucer is deep for drinking from (an 18th and 19th century custom) and it is typical for the era. An early English 7-3/4" high large footed comport or tazza made by Wedgwood in 1878-9. This elegant Neoclassic design table serving piece measures 12-3/4" across the two handles and features fine hand painted gilding, a black transfer design (on top and underneath the plate) and relief molding to the handles, edge and foot. A vintage Victorian period porcelain pink lustre 5 piece condiment or cruet set depicting a playing pair of cherubs or children with the legend "A present from Rathdowney" (a town located in County Laois, Ireland). This 5-3/8" across set is 5-1/4" deep and stands 4-1/2" high with the lids and shaker insert. It includes the base with molded leaf decoration, gold trim and the original spoon for the lidded mustard pot; the shaker inserts into one of the cups. The lustre is a Sunderland pink, popular in the mid to late 19th century, and this set has an incised 776 on the bottom and was most likely made originally in Austria or Germany, and sold in Rathdowney. This set is in excellent original condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a touch of gold wear and a small 1/8" interior shallow rim chip on the mustard bowl and a small loss to the transfer decoration. There are the expected bits of frit and the mustard lid is original but is not a precise fit. A Staffordshire figurine of a goatherd girl on a goat circa 1930 1850. This antique English figure dates to the early to mid quarter of the 19thC. She is hand painted painted fully on front, sides and back. 1830s -1860. It is a fine looking and well painted example reflecting the 19th century Victorian romanticism about farm and rural life with the advancing age of industrialism. People who lived on farms at the time would have found the concept of a girl riding a goat after gathering a basket of fruit possibly a little odd or possibly amusing. Meissen produced a pair of figurines of a tailor and his wife riding goats in the 18thC - possibly this figure was inspired by that. It measures 7 1/2" in height and is 5 1/2" at the widest. It is in mostly excellent condition except for one detail - the tip of the girl's foot is chipped. Other than that, it is in exceptional shape - no cracks, crazing or repairs, and the paint in in excellent shape. There is a firing crack on the back of the girl's neck, but it is original to the manufacture of the piece, and does not detract.We haven't been able as yet to find which English Staffordshire maker produced this. A 19th century Staffordshire flat back china cottage 1850-60s. It is the flat back type, and measures 4 1/4" high and 3 7/16" across. The colouration is simple - yellow ochre and rust-brown. It is overall in excellent condition for its age except for a small chip on the chimney and wear to the painted decoration. The bocage around the roof eaves is in excellent shape (very minor loss, not noticeable) and no cracks, crazing, staining or repairs. Cottages are hard to find, and this is a nice example. A pair of 19thC Gaudy Welsh canns or mugs 1820 1850. This matching pair of early to mid 19th century 2-3/4" tall Gaudy Welsh chinoiserie ceramic canns or small mugs feature copper luster and hand painted designs over pink transfer in blue, green, yellow and brown. Although known as Gaudy Welsh, only a small percentage of these attractive pieces were produced in Wales - most were produced in Staffordshire. They are typically unmarked and they are in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a tiny 1/32" paint fleck on one rust painted panel, and some wear to the rim lustre. A fine 19th century 6-1/2" Stourbridge-style milk glass vase with amber glass applied leaves and feet plus red cherries. The milk glass has nice orange fire when held to the light, and the leaves, feet and cherries are well formed. This is a 10-1/2" x 8-1/2" ball-footed swing-handle serving basket fully hallmarked for Sheffield, England 1895-6. Made by James Dixon & Sons, this basket has ornate repousse decoration in the bowl as well as attractive design to the ornate handle. It has a presentation inscription in the centre, as it was presented as a gift in September 1896, and it weighs an impressive 595 grams. Besides the hallmarks, it is also stamped 1618P and B3916, at least one of which refers to the design. This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs.
