This 5-7/8" tall tableware serving piece is stamped with the Gorham lion/anchor/G STERLING mark with 1 1/4 PINT and it has the number 1 and the Gorham year cipher for 1899. This rustic 7-3/4" salad size plate is from a series of plates made for the Canadian market depicting various scenes. It was made by the Brittania Pottery in Glasgow, Scotland for Francis T. Thomas of Quebec c1880 as part of a commissioned series of Quebec scenes. It has a view of the Quebec City monument, text in two languages and a border of leaves and beavers. It is in very good condition with no cracks, damage or repairs other than a 1/4" front rim chip and some browning and crazing from heat.
