An Eiichi Kotozuka Evening Snow At Kiyamachi 1950s framed woodblock Japanese print. This large Oban size print is by Kotozuka (1906-1979) and it has a sight size of 15-1/4 x 10-1/4". It has been matted and framed with a black painted bamboo style 23 x 18-1/4" frame with the print affixed to the mat. The print itself may be 1/4" larger on all sides due to the mat. It has one of the artistic "Koto" seal signatures below the print title as well as the Uchida publisher seal on the upper left of the print. Kiyamachi Street is located in Kyoto, Japan and it is a world heritage site of considerable beauty. It has a Joske's of Texas foil label on back (the department store that sold and framed this print) and the paper has been subtly embossed giving a nice three dimensional effect. Although this print was glazed when we obtained it we will be shipping it without the glass in order to protect the print from damage if the glass were to break in shipment. A superbly rendered and atmospheric lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), titled "Ikegami Honmonji Temple" (Honmonji Temple in Snow). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red lifetime seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red-painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. The frame has some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain). There is some minor browning to the paper not affecting the image. Please note we have a similar print from the same period also available. A Robert Allison Scottish sterling silver and genuine citrine round pin or brooch with a Greek key design. This vintage 1-1/2" round brooch is fully hallmarked for Edinburgh probably 1958 (we think - the date stamp is difficult to make out). This pin has a safety clasp and the citrene has been checked to verify that it is a genuine gem stone and it weighs 15.0 grams. These stones are sometimes referred to as smoky topaz, but they are actually a light brown citrine. This vintage yellow gold jadite size 6-1/2 or 6.5 ring features genuine diamonds, cultured pearls and a fine teardrop cabachon natural jade stone artfully arranged on a 3/4" x 3/4" setting. A detailed intaglio Laws Scottish family crest sterling silver seal ring from 1900-1930. This vintage size 7 ring features the family crest from the Laws family with a cockerel atop the shield and the quote from Horace (30 BCE) "COMPOSITUM JUS TASQUE ANIMI" which has various translations referring to justice, uprightness and nobility of the soul (one version states "A mind which respects alike the laws of mutual justice and of god"). It is a true seal ring, with the crest in reverse so it will appear correct on the actual seal. It is shown reversed in one of our images so you can read it. This classic gentleman's pinky ring is stamped STERLING. It has signs of an earlier resizing which likely caused the sterling mark to be barely visible in the last two letters and no maker's mark is presentand it weighs 11.8 grams. A vintage single row 10 button plus 5 bass button German maade Hohner accordion or melodeon. This example features ornate gold stencilling on the black patinated wood, orange bellows and a pierced chrome plated grille. This unit is clean and fully functional (and LOUD) and the straps and bellows are in superb condition.
