A lovely mid-Victorian piece of hair jewellery in 10k yellow gold c1860-80. This 1-3/4" x 1-3/8" pendant features a fine hand engraved (unmarked but tested) gold surround with a central concave transluscent moonstone agate, on which is mounted a gold-bordered hair insert. The insert and surround are bolted to the agate with hand-cut bolts, and it retains the original finely braided black hair, bezel and glass window. This item has been converted to a pendant, with a loop attached through a small drilled hole; the hinge for the pin remains and it could easily be converted back to a brooch with the addition of a pin and catch. It weighs 12.3 grams, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses or damage, other than the conversion. A feldspar necklace and earrings set from the 1930s with pastel colours. This natural mineral crystal is semitranslucent and easily dyed with a linear fiber-like appearance and it is shown to good effect in this post-Deco era set. The 15-1/2" necklace has five interlocking hoops with one colour each of blue, pink and green; the colours alternate on the ends of the necklace. The 1-1/2 x 7/8" screwback earrings have multiple colours of feldspar as well and all stones are capped with brass fittings and wire loop spacers. An exceptional Victorian Tunbridge Ware trinket or dresser box circa 1850s. Tunbridgeware was made as souvenir ware in England and Scotland. It consists of tiny inlaid exotic wood tesserae in geometric designs. This 4-3/8 x 4-1/4" and 1-3/4" high example has a repeating floral pattern on the top, a Greek key design on the sides and a bird's eye maple ground. The lid appears to be rosewood and the box is quite heavy. It retains the original colours which include green, yellow, red and gold and the workmanship is superb. It is in remarkable intact condition with no fading, chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a bit of warping to the lid. The hinges are intact and our pictures don't even come close to showing the fine detail of this folk art box. An unframed oil on canvas painting depicting a fence and trees on a hillock with a mountain background by Eva Brook Donly (Canada 1867-1941). Born in Simcoe, Ontario, she studied under Frederick M. Bell-Smith at Alma College and the School for Artisans New York under John Ward Stimson. She also studied at the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City under Jose M. Pino. Works by this listed artist (Dictionary of Canadian Artists) are on display at the Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe and in the National Gallery of Canada. This painting measures 20" x 16", and it is unsigned and it was discovered in a storage closet with other paintings. It has a pencil notation on the back (illegible), it has signs of being framed at one time and it is in excellent original condition with no tears, fading, losses, damage or repairs other than some slight darkening from grime/fireplace ash. The Etchings of Frank Brangwyn fine arts book 1912. This large and vintage 13-1/2" x 10-1/2" art book is entitled "Catalogue of The Etched Work of Frank Brangwyn", published in 1912 by the London Fine Art Society Ltd. This book has a cloth and leather board cover with an applied gold-stamped leather title panel on the spine; it has 139 pages and it is profusely illustrated with tissue-covered etching reproductions. The paper is hand-cut and top gilt, and curiously this book was the personal copy of and it is signed on the facing flyleaf by A.H. Knighton Hammond, the famous English painter. Condition is very good, with the following issues: minor corner bruising,, leather soiling, minor water staining to cloth on the back cover, bruising to the upper leather on the spine, wear and scrapes to applied title leather, wear and loss and 1" split on lower spine, top-to-bottom back and front cover split between covers and body (covers still firmly attached with original cloth strips). It has a tipped-in "errata" strip, and the page condition is excellent with no foxing, tears or staining, however the endpapers have minor foxing. This item is in very good condition as described above. A superb and vintage Art Nouveau 12-3/4" across Austro-Hungarian ceramic wall plaque depicting a lovely woman with an earring and flowers in her hair c1905. This terracotta plaque is probably by Ernst Wahliss, and it has an impressed flying dove stamp with a pattern number 1518. It also has a pencil notation 5620/23, which was typical. Some Wahliss items had a foil tag which often became lost. It has a brown border, a black ground and an ivory coloured face with brownish hair. This item is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a few slight flakes to the brown border and a fine scratch along her chin.
