An early 1960s pair of Lefton Miss Dainty salt and pepper shakers in the form of yellow-haired girls in white and red checkered hats. They are sometimes referred to as cutie pie shakers. Made by many firms over many years, this collection was made by Haviland & Co. Limoges, France. All pieces are stamped with the H&Co. or H&Co/L mark; the entree dishes have an impressed English registry mark (for 1871) plus an underglaze impressed H & Co. It is probable that Haviland purchased the blanks from an English firm for decoration and sale to the English market. All serving pieces have maritime or rope twist handles. An attractive, well painted Japanese 10" x 6-3/4" lacquer over wood box c1900. This box has a richly painted scene of a bird, tree with flowers and leaves and a curved fence with mountains and a lake in the background. The thickly applied colours include textured black (tree), gold, orange and grey. This box has a black interior and the original lock (key missing) with a metal escutcheon plate; it appears to have been used as a cigar box in the past however, it could be used for many things. It is unsigned, and it is in very good condition with no losses, damage or repairs other than bruise showing wood on the lid's lower right corner, some minor lacquer losses at two of the edges and on the upper edge of the lid. Majolica grape and vine pitcher with a pewter lid with a leaf motif, most likely for serving wine outdoors circa 1880s. It is 8-1/2" tall and hand painted in brown, blue and green colors. It is unmarked except for what looks like a 70 painted onto the bottom. Majolica is an antique form of pottery, with a great revival of interest in the 19thC. A true rarity. This is a hand-carved marbled Bakelite plastic perfume bottle pin or brooch c1930s. This pin consists of a block of amber Bakelite with swirls of black, red, green and other colours resembling burled wood. A Martin Hall Victorian English silver plated meat dome. This 12-1/4" x 9-3/8" meat dome or cover was made by Martin, Hall & Co. of Sheffield, England (1854-1934). This table serving piece features a bolted and pegged finial with a wing nut and it stands 8-3/4" high. It is stamped 1127 EPNS with the maker's mark, and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than one small penpoint protruberant dent and a nearby shallow penpoint dent. The plating is completely intact and this dome is in superb condition. A massive Neoclassic English sterling silver centerpiece basket, fully hallmarked for Sheffeld 1910. Made by the firm James Dixon & Sons, this basket is a prime example of quality Edwardian silver done in the revivial of design from a century earlier. It has gadrooned edges, scroll and leaf edge terminals, and berried wreath designs. This 16-3/4" x 11" beauty weighs an impressive 1010 grams (approximately 32.5 troy ounces) of sterling silver. It was presented as an award, and it has the following inscription at the center of the bowl: PRESENTED TO W.T. GENT, Esqre. J.P., IN RECOGNITION OF 30 YEARS SERVICE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL OF MISTERTON 11th MARCH 1925." Mr. Gent was the Justice of the Peace of the small town and rural area of Misterton, Nottinghamshire, England, and the inscription also has the names of other council members. This basket is solidly made and heavy, and it was actually plated with sterling over the original parcel gilding (polishing has revealed gilding under polished silver areas, rather than vice-versa). As this basket was bought on the secondhand market for presentation some 15 years after its manufacture, the purchasers opted to silver over the existing gilding, which was considered somewhat ostentatious and contrary to the British taste of the day. Some of the gilding is visible on the ribbon openwork, on the upper section of the base, and on the inscription area. Further polishing will reveal the intact gilding under the thin sterling plating done probably at the time of presentation. This wonderful survivor is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the areas of exposed gilding. A Meissen Scattered Flowers demitasse cup and saucer from the 1920s. This Scattered Flowers pattern 2" tall cup and matching 4-7/8" saucer both have hand painted flowers on the saucer and cup exterior; the cup's inside is undecorated and they have gold trim. In production for a very long time this cup appears to be from the 1920s or possibly before, with a paneled design and round non-scalloped edges as well as an angular handle. Both pieces have the crossed swords mark in cobalt and the cup has an underglaze 39 and gold 44 while the saucer has a gold 44 and underglaze 838 14. A Mexican sterling silver necklace and bracelet set by Artemio Navarrette. He was a master silversmith who worked for William Spratling, later producing jewelry under his own name. This 2 pc. set consists of the 7" length bracelet and the matching 15-1/4" length necklace. Each has a hook and eye clasp, they are made out of domed cutout 11/16" across segments. Both bracelet and necklace are stamped STERLING 925 and HECHO EN MEXICO TAXCO with what looks like a a joined AV maker's mark - it is actually an N with the first part made into an A. A charming vintage miniature pair of folk art paintings c1950s. This pair of miniature scenic view oil paintings depicts scenes the Gravenhurst, Ontario area. These 4-3/4" x 3-3/4" sight size paintings come in white painted 6" x 5" frames, and each was painted by May House. One shows "Muskoka Bay from Green Acres, W. Gravenhurst" and the other "Montgomery's Point + Gateway Hotel, from W. Gravenhurst". The kosher hotel (1949-1961) catered to Jewish vacationers from Toronto. A Minton wild strawberries A2625 hand painted berry or fruit bowl dated 1866. This Victorian beauty measures 9-3/8" across and it features finely handpainted leaves, flowers and wild strawberries all in high relief. This bowl is similar to other antique Minton patterns however we haven't definitively identified it. It has the impressed MINTON mark (used from 1862-71, later MINTONS) and a date cypher resembling that used for 1866. This bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than some wear and loss to the paint on the high points of the design. This is minor and most apparent on one strawberry, a few leaves and the roots of the plants.
