An English sterling silver curb link watch chain with an escutcheon shape medal or award fob. The 14 3/8" length antique watchchain has individual lion passant marks and the watch swivel has the company mark of Henry Williamson Ld (known 1895 - ?). The fob, which appears to be a football award, has the makers mark of William H Haseler and the Birmingham 1915 year mark. The shield in the centre has rse gold and two ornate iniitials, possibly ST. There is one swivel, possibly this was being worn as a unique necklace. It is overall is mostly very good to excellent condition for its age and usage but the swivel loop does show visible wear, and the lion passant marks on the chain appear worn, as is often the case with these sterling chains. An attractive vintage sterling silver 2" brooch or pin from Mexico with a large engraved flower on a turquoise and resin ground c1960s. The engraved edge and flower are well done, and the ground has inlaid turquoise half-circles against a deep blue resin base. A superb and vintage Art Nouveau 12-3/4" across Austro-Hungarian ceramic wall plaque depicting a lovely woman with an earring and flowers in her hair c1905. This terracotta plaque is probably by Ernst Wahliss, and it has an impressed flying dove stamp with a pattern number 1518. It also has a pencil notation 5620/23, which was typical. Some Wahliss items had a foil tag which often became lost. It has a brown border, a black ground and an ivory coloured face with brownish hair. This item is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a few slight flakes to the brown border and a fine scratch along her chin. The Etchings of Frank Brangwyn fine arts book 1912. This large and vintage 13-1/2" x 10-1/2" art book is entitled "Catalogue of The Etched Work of Frank Brangwyn", published in 1912 by the London Fine Art Society Ltd. This book has a cloth and leather board cover with an applied gold-stamped leather title panel on the spine; it has 139 pages and it is profusely illustrated with tissue-covered etching reproductions. The paper is hand-cut and top gilt, and curiously this book was the personal copy of and it is signed on the facing flyleaf by A.H. Knighton Hammond, the famous English painter. Condition is very good, with the following issues: minor corner bruising,, leather soiling, minor water staining to cloth on the back cover, bruising to the upper leather on the spine, wear and scrapes to applied title leather, wear and loss and 1" split on lower spine, top-to-bottom back and front cover split between covers and body (covers still firmly attached with original cloth strips). It has a tipped-in "errata" strip, and the page condition is excellent with no foxing, tears or staining, however the endpapers have minor foxing. This item is in very good condition as described above. An unframed oil on canvas painting depicting a fence and trees on a hillock with a mountain background by Eva Brook Donly (Canada 1867-1941). Born in Simcoe, Ontario, she studied under Frederick M. Bell-Smith at Alma College and the School for Artisans New York under John Ward Stimson. She also studied at the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City under Jose M. Pino. Works by this listed artist (Dictionary of Canadian Artists) are on display at the Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe and in the National Gallery of Canada. An exceptional Victorian Tunbridge Ware trinket or dresser box circa 1850s. Tunbridgeware was made as souvenir ware in England and Scotland. It consists of tiny inlaid exotic wood tesserae in geometric designs. This 4-3/8 x 4-1/4" and 1-3/4" high example has a repeating floral pattern on the top, a Greek key design on the sides and a bird's eye maple ground. The lid appears to be rosewood and the box is quite heavy. It retains the original colours which include green, yellow, red and gold and the workmanship is superb. A feldspar necklace and earrings set from the 1930s with pastel colours. This natural mineral crystal is semitranslucent and easily dyed with a linear fiber-like appearance and it is shown to good effect in this post-Deco era set. The 15-1/2" necklace has five interlocking hoops with one colour each of blue, pink and green; the colours alternate on the ends of the necklace. The 1-1/2 x 7/8" screwback earrings have multiple colours of feldspar as well and all stones are capped with brass fittings and wire loop spacers. This 1-3/4" x 1-3/8" pendant features a fine hand engraved (unmarked but tested) gold surround with a central concave transluscent moonstone agate, on which is mounted a gold-bordered hair insert. The insert and surround are bolted to the agate with hand-cut bolts, and it retains the original finely braided black hair, bezel and glass window. A Franck L. Paris France oil on panel painting dated 1969. An excellent example of 1960s French Modernism, this painting is by the renowned painter Franck.L. and is an early work by this respected artist who is still producing. Born in 1944, he started exhibiting in 1966 and his works have been shown at the Musee d’Art Moderne in Paris. This work is an untitled still life and it was purchased for a London, Ontario home in 1969. It comes with a contemporary linen-bordered 25 x 19" gilt wood frame and the sight size is 20-1/2 x 14-1/2". It is in good condition with a few areas of craquelure with some scattered areas of lost small paint flakes and a diagonal crease with paint loss near the left hand margin however the thinly applied paint wash also has areas showing small areas of plain panel as well which appear to be integral to the original artist's intent. An important Canadian Group of 7 oil on panel by Francis Hans - Franz or Frank - Johnston OSA, ARCA (Canadian, 1888-1949) titled "Pools of Spring". Born in Toronto, he was a founding member of the renowned Toronto painters known as the Group of Seven, which he left by 1926. He became a principal of the Winnipeg School of Art and later the Ontario College of Art. He changed his signature to "Franz" in 1927 on the advice of a friend. He was the most productive and financially successful of the Group of Seven, painting steadily until he suffered a stroke in 1948. His work shows his love of the Canadian landscape and his fascination with light. His highly sought after works are on exhibition in the McMaster Collection, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the National Gallery of Canada (General Collection and War Gallery Collection), among others. A Fumio Tamura 1969 Nokemono framed litho print 2/7. This evocative semi-erotic colour lithograph print entitled "Nokemono" (translated from Japanese - outcast) was produced in 1969 by Fumio Tamura (Japan, 1941-). Fumio Tamura was born in the Nagano prefecture, and he graduated from Tokyo Art College in 1968, so this 1969 litho dates from early in his career. It is in a metal frame, and it measures 24-1/2" x 21", with an image size of 18" x 14-1/2". It is a very small edition issue, inscribed in pencil 2/7, with the title in Japanese and in English NOKEMONO and it has the artist's signature F. Tamura '69. It retains the original Toronto gallery sticker on the back, and this print is is in excellent condition with no foxing, tears, staining, fading, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. (Toronto) from c1900-25. G. Blair Laing Memories Of An Art Dealer 2 vol. set. This complete and mint two volume set is in its original slipcovers and it was published by McClelland and Stewart, Toronto 1982. Each volume measures 10-3/4 x 7-3/4" in their limited clothbound slip cases. Volume 1 has 65 tipped-in colour plates and 264 pages; it is near mint inside and out with only the faintest traces of rubbing on the edges of the book and case and not enough to drop it from a solid MINT rating. Volume 2 has 77 plates and 213 pages and it is near mint with very slight rubs and some minor dents on the back of the slipcase. A superb and scarce set in superb condition. A genuine George III English Spade Guinea coin pendant dated 1791 and made of 22K gold. This is a genuine antique Georgian period gold coin from the UK - it was only in production from 1787-99. It measures 1" across and it has been soldered to a 14k or 15k mount with an attached loop for wear as a pendant or as a watch fob. This coin shows considerable wear (high carat gold was very soft and wore easily) however the subject matter and date is clearly visible. A Georgian 14k glass emerald and diamonds ring circa 1780-1800. This antique yellow gold (unmarked but tested and guaranteed) ring features a 3/8" across top which has claw set early silver coloured genuine rose cut diamonds surrounding an emerald coloured glass stone. Emeralds then were a scarce and difficult stone to acquire, so the use of a cut glass "gem" with diamonds was not unusual. This ring weighs 2.5 grams and it is in excellent original condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than chips under two claws of the glass emerald stone. A later Georgian period 15k yellow gold remembrance or mourning ring with genuine pearls circa 1820 - 1830. This beautiful antique size 6 ring is typically unmarked and it tests as 15k, and it most likely of United Kingdom origin. It has a bevelled glass window for hair (no hair present) and the shoulders are thickly sculpted with a multi-floral pattern sometimes seen on jewellery or decor of this period. This ring weighs 3.7 grams, it measures 1/2" x 7/16" across the pearl setting, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than an early interior piece of gold added to the interior bottom of the shank to make it slightly smaller in size - this inventive type of ring sizing allowed the ring to be made smaller without cutting the original ring band/shank at all! A Georgian English hand painted Imari dessert dish or platter circa 1800 1820. This 11-1/4" x 7-1/4" unmarked bowl features gold, orange, cobalt, teal, green and purple painted floral designs. Although it lacks an indent, it is possible that this is the platter that went beneath a tureen. It is 1-3/4" deep at the deepest point, so we are also calling it a s dish or shallow bowl. We have so far been unable to identify the manufacturer or pattern, but it is entirely consistent with English late 18th to early 19th century manufacture. A Georgian sterling silver large footed master salt dish dated 1817. This simply splendid high quality English Georgian silver open salt dish is fully hallmarked for London 1817. This 3-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" high bowl has fine high relief and rather unusual rim decoration of a lion head alternating with a shell, surrounded by flowers, with ornate floral feet. It retains the original gilding on the bowl as well. It is stamped with the maker's mark for William Elliot or William Eaton of London. It weighs an impressive 162.6 grams. A German Industrial Art Deco celluloid or Bakelite chrome necklace from the 1920s. This evocative beauty features chromed links with layered or stepped segments in the German Industrial Deco style. It also has angular orange celluloid links and it is marked GERMANY on the jump ring. It measures 17" long, the middle drop is 7/8" deep and it has a springring clasp. A German porcelain chicken figural schnapps or liquor decanter with glasses or cups and tray from the 1920s. This set is in orange, green and yellow luster and the cork-lined stopper shaped like feathers lifts off to reveal a filling hole. It is fully hand painted, the chicken is 8-1/2" long, the two-handled tray is 9-5/8" long and the schnapps shot glasses stand 1-5/8" high and fit on indented circles on the tray. A Girard Perregaux 14K white gold lady's diamond manual wind wristwatch. This elegant Art Deco vintage wrist watch measures 15/16" x 1/2", and it has a a fine braided black leather strap and a full wrist size chain link guard safety chain; the case is set with two large 3 mm. across bezel set diamonds on the top of the strap loop and bottom, with 26 round cut genuine diamonds around the bezel (approximately .65 carat total weight by gauge). The inside of the case is marked J MILHENNING INC. M 14K 145594; the works are marked GIRARD-PERREGAUX & Co. GXM SWISS UNADJUSTED 52 432917 SEVENTEEN JEWELS and it has gold gears. We believe it dates to the 1930s, but it may be slightly more recent. This watch has just been overhauled by a professional watchmaker a few years ago and appears to be in excellent running order, although we are not watchmakers so cannot guarantee it. Goldstone is a formed glass with internal crystallized copper (or other colour yielding metals), carefully heated and cooled to precipitate the metals giving the metallic sparkle. A Gorham silver plated open chafing dish on stand from the 1900 era. This top quality late Victorian era warming dish measures 9-5/8" across and it sits on the ornately designed heavy quality footed stand, which has a large fuel well with a turned handle. It has two mechanical burners - the long thumbwheels open the lids and raise and lower the wicks in the same motion, snuffing the flames. The burners are mounted in a fitted top which sits on the fuel well; they are stamped PAT'D AUG 29.1899. The stand is marked with the GMCo EP anchor mark for Gorham and it has a pattern number 0560, which also appears on the dish. This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight crack on the natural material of the handle. A gold plated saphiret tassels necklace from the 1930s. This superb and vintage (unsigned) gold plated brass necklace has large dramatic tassels with saphiret (or sapphiret) glass stones. This 15-1/2" gold plated brass necklace has a spring-ring clasp and it has five graduated chain and bell tassels suspended from it. The largest tassel measures 3-1/2" long and 1" across the bell; each individual tassel chain ends in a sapphiret glass stone. The farthest left and right tassels have 9 suspended chains and stones, the 2nd and 4th tassel have 11 chains and suspended stones, and the center tassel has 18 chains and suspended stones. There is also a sapphiret at the top of each tassel canopy. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, losses, damage or repairs other than a bit of gold wear at the clasp and some minor corrosion on some of the chain. A gray transfer covered sauce dish. This early unsigned English covered footed sauce dish dates to circa 1830-50. It has classical scenes and an oak leaf border as well as sculpted handles and feet, all with gray or grey transfer decoration. It is marked only with an impressed P underneath. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some fine overall crazing, three tiny glaze flakes on the lid's rim (two at the opening for the ladle) and a pinpoint burst glaze bubble or small chip on the lid rim (see pic).
