A rare Clews Jasperware cream jug circa 1815-34. This pre-Victorian English 3-3/4" high milk jug is signed by Clews. Ralph and James Clews (Cobridge, Staffordshire) was in business only from 1815-34; pieces of Jasperware in imitation of Wedgwood were tricky to manufacture and as a result examples by Clews are quite scarce. This buff coloured example has applied bacchanalia scenes, with figures drinking wine and holding grapes. It has a grape-leaf border and a hand-formed spout. It has an incised CLEWS on the bottom, and it shows the typical firing cracks in the decoration typical of the era. This exceptional piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. A Georgian sterling silver large footed master salt dish dated 1817. This simply splendid high quality English Georgian silver open salt dish is fully hallmarked for London 1817. This 3-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" high bowl has fine high relief and rather unusual rim decoration of a lion head alternating with a shell, surrounded by flowers, with ornate floral feet. It retains the original gilding on the bowl as well. It is stamped with the maker's mark for William Elliot or William Eaton of London. It weighs an impressive 162.6 grams. It has a small lion rampant family crest engraving on one shoulder (not shown). One of the largest and most unusual Georgian silver open salts we have seen. An early Empire 15k superbly carved cameo pin circa 1820. This hand carved shell portrait cameo measures 2 x 1-3/4" and it features lovely tooling with a pierced gallery, and a twist border with applied textured flowers and leaves. The cameo itself is one of the most attractively carved we have seen- simply stunning in detail and she is wearing an Empire headdress. This brooch has the original c-clasp and a loop for wear as a pendant. This is a genuine English sterling silver William IV teapot fully hallmarked for London, England 1837. This table serving piece measures 11-1/4" from spout to handle and it has a wonderful bolt-mounted floral finial. It has fine leaf and flower repousse decoration throughout and it stands on four fancy feet. It has the maker's mark for the respected English silversmith firm of Edward, Edward Jr., John and W. Barnard and it weighs an impressive 810 grams. This excellent survivor is in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a dent on one panel at the shoulder and some looseness at the insulating spacer at the top of the handle from an old repair (the handle wobbles a little). A scarce English Pratt ware Lord Nelson and Capt. Berry jug made between 1798-1806. We believe it was made to commemorate either the Battle of the Nile (a significant English military battle of 1798) or the battle of Trafalgar (1805), a most significant English military battle still commemorated today in England on Trafalgar Day. This 5-3/8" tall pitcher has stylized portraits of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and Captain Edward Berry with orange, brown, cobalt and green glazes on the high-relief modelling. Prattware is not often found in perfect condition, and this piece is not, either. This jug is un-restored except for a primitive and early reattachment of the bottom of the handle. There is some interior browning and staining, some overall crazing and some exterior browning on the spout. The bottom of the handle is missing and the bottom third has been crudely cemented in place. This jug is well worth having professionally restored, and it is a seldom seen English historic commemorative. It is in fair intact condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or damage other than stated above.

A rare Georgian whiskey barrel figural string holder. This superb, unusual vintage Georgian whiskey or ale cask figural string holder is from the 1800-30 era. String was a valuable and useful item in the Georgian home, and this holder could also have held embroidery thread for sewing. Made of beautifully figured rosewood with a great patina and trimmed with gilt brass bands held with hand made nails, this string dispenser has a detailed brass spigot through which the string emerges. There is a mounted steel cutting blade in the form of the spigot's handle, and the whole barrel sits on a rosewood plinth. The workmanship is superb, and it has remnants of a velvet-covered bottom. The base measures 3-7/8" x 2-7/8" and it stands 3-1/2" high. Made for a well-to-do household, this holder is in excellent original condition with no corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some age shrinkage of the wood causing the brass bands to sit a bit above the wood surface, some minor loss to the gilding and some minor age cracks to the rosewood base. A very rare set of (probably) English 9-7/8" plates in a variant of the original Blue Willow pattern. We haven't been able to accurately identify this pattern with its distinctive border butterflies in our books, however they are definitely Georgian. The porcelain is the expected light gray and the decoration is slightly blurred and each plate has the expected frit and minor variations from the manufacture of these items. It is quite unusual to find a matched set of four of these plates and one has a partial gold seal from the British Antique Dealer Association (B.A.D.A.) which guaranteed that the plates were over 100 years old at the time of sale (many decades ago). They are unsigned and are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a 5/8" loss to the surface glaze on the rim of one plate only. A William IV sterling silver vinaigrette made by Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England 1833. Vinaigrettes were used in the 18th and 19th century as a personal hygiene accessory for the moneyed class and were used to carry pleasant oils and attars or vinegars which were absorbed into cloth pads under the pierced gilded grillwork and sniffed so as to cover up the smells of everyday life (when there were open sewers and waste and garbage were tossed from windows onto the sidewalks and streets below). This 1-7/16 x 1" example has fine hand engraving and it retains the fine openwork grill and gilding. It has the hallmarks and maker's mark for Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England and the date letter for 1833. It has a gothic M monogram on the top and it is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some signs of slightly abrasive polishing in the past.

An antique Kearsley hand coloured snake copper plate engraving print from 1801. This is a really fine example and it is entitled "VIPER-HEADAED SNAKE", from the original by James Heath. Published in 1801 for inclusion in "Kearsley's Systematic Natural History" series published in various volumes and with various topics beginning in 1800, this plate is from Volume 3 "Amphibia", published in 1802. Notations on the print include: VIPER-HEADED SNAKE, 1801 JANy 1 LONDON PUBLISHED BY G. KEARSLEY FLEET STREET., HEATH SCULP., 121. It has been mounted in a 14" x 11-1/2" mat which has been wrapped in plastic with a printshop's label. The size of the viewable print is 8" x 5". A vintage, original dated hand tinted copper plate stipple engraving by Francesco Bartolozzi dated 1786. This print measures 11" x 8-3/8" (imprint size) and it is in a later (c.1900) painted and gilt 14-3/4" x 11-3/4" frame. It has the following inscriptions: "Painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds", London. Published Dec 12th 1786 by E.M. Diemar, No. 114 Strand, and "Engraved by F. Bartolozzi, R.A. Engraver to His Majesty. The image is titled The Honourable Miss Bingham" and it has flesh and blue hand tinting. A Georgian 14k glass emerald and diamonds ring circa 1780-1800. This antique yellow gold (unmarked but tested and guaranteed) ring features a 3/8" across top which has claw set early silver coloured genuine rose cut diamonds surrounding an emerald coloured glass stone. Emeralds then were a scarce and difficult stone to acquire, so the use of a cut glass "gem" with diamonds was not unusual. This ring weighs 2.5 grams and it is in excellent original condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than chips under two claws of the glass emerald stone. A rare early Wedgwood tri-colour miniature jasper cameo pin circa 1790 1800. This English Georgian period 2-1/4" x 1-1/4" tri-color jasperware brooch consists of a Wedgwood miniature plaque mounted in a (later) sterling silver setting. The jasper ware cameo dates to approximately 1780-1800, and this beautiful miniature has a very light blue, white and royal blue edge classical scene of a sacrifice to the gods of classic mythology. This exact cameo appears in the top of a patch box in the 1953 Wedgwood book by Wolf Mankowitz, dated to circa 1785 (plate 97). These miniature Wedgwood jaspers were often mounted in the cut steel jewellery popular in the Georgian period, or were sometimes set into the top of boxes, but were also sold unmounted. The mounting for this pin is sterling silver, with a modern period wheel catch, so it would have been set in the sterling setting at a later date. It is impressed WEDGWOOD with a small cross mark, a deep and not perfectly evenly lettered mark as should be expected in a piece of this age. The pin is stamped STERLING and it has a safety catch. A pair of English Georgian period sterling silver footed salt cellars or dishes with clear glass liners, fully hallmarked for London, England 1771-2. This antique pair of 2-1/2" diameter salt stands or dips are 1-1/2" high, and they have three hoof design feet. The liners are clear blown glass with a polished pontil, and these salt dips have a maker's mark for Nathaniel Appleton and Anne Smith (London, est. 1771). They weigh 67.6 grams without the liners, and they are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than old repairs to two legs on one salt (well finished on the exterior and barely visible - see pictures). This is a classic 8-3/4" x 8-1/2" (top measurement) two-handled heavy brass Chinese censer dating to the late 17th-early 18th century. This censer weighs approximately four kilograms and it has the ornate two character Xuande mark on the bottom, and an interior six character Xuande mark. An authentic and vintage Dutch Delft blue and white 9-1/4" plate. This plate has a floriate design and it has the expected blue-tinged underglaze. This unsigned plate has an underglaze 8, and it is in fair condition with the loss of the glaze around the rim, some rim chips (with crude colour touchups), a glued bisected break and a y-shaped crack meeting at the bisected break. The glue is old-style yellow, and this plate is certainly worthy of restoration.
