An excellent sports collectible and piece of jewellery, this 1-1/4 x 1" (sans bale) pendant has two photo retaining bezels and windows on the interior and a centrally mounted genuine 7 point diamond (by gauge) on the front. It has the recipient's name, ANTHONY MURPHY, on the front and the dedication FROM JACOB KOHLER TO CAYUGA HOCKEY TEAM WINNERS GROUP 9 1927 on the back. A Scottish sterling silver banded agate sword and shield brooch pin dated 1863. Although a common form this example is one of the most ornate and best constructed we have seen. It measures 2-3/4 x 1", the silver is deeply and intricately tooled and the cut and polished banded agates are well matched and are gray (or grey), white and blue striped. The shield is mounted by wire pins through loops on the sword back and most unusual is a hand-etched British hallmark shield with the letter and number cyphers indicating a manufacturing date of Dec. 6, 1863. This item is in excellent condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a bend to the C from the original c-clasp (easily straightened).
