An antique Art Nouveau period Scottish sterling silver two piece belt buckle, depicting the Green Man, a well known creature from ancient United Kingdom mythology. He is associated with birth and re-birth, and the coming of spring. Wide silver buckles of this size - 4-3/4" x 2-3/8" - in solid silver, silver plate or gold were often presented to a young graduate nurses by their families or by consultants at the hospital they were then working as graduate nurses, as their badge was the wide black belt of their nursing uniform. One of my nurse friends who trained in the UK says this practice was still usual into the 1950s. This buckle is fully hallmarked for Glasgow, Scotland 1897-8 and it has the maker's mark for (possibly) James Forest. It weighs 47.8 grams, and this late Victorian period vintage beauty is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. An ornate Victorian rolled gold plate Aesthetic clamper bangle bracelet from the 1880s. This attractive bangle measures 2-3/8" along the decorated front and it is 13/16" wide. It is unsigned and it has both rose and yellow gold components which was typical of the time. The bracelet itself is very heavily gold plated and the spring is strong and the bracelet expands smoothly (it measures 2-3/16 x 1-7/8" at rest). It is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the possible replacement of the larger ball at the center. There is gold plate wear to this ball and to a smaller one as well. A Victorian 19thC Scottish sterling silver agate kilt pin with a bloodstone. This antique 2-3/8" x 3/8" Scottish pin features fine hand tooling and engraving, it has natural bloodstone and red jasper stones as well as an amber stone which may be natural cairngorm (we haven't had it checked). A 19th century Dutch red glass bracelet with a 14k clasp. This Victorian era 19th century 7-3/4" hand cut red glass bead four strand bracelet is complete with an unmarked but tested 14k yellow gold clasp. The beads have a rich red garnet colour and the 3/4" wide box clasp has three large faceted red glass beads. A 9K rose gold Edwardian engraved hinged bangle bracelet fully hallmarked for Birmingham, England 1911. This 1/4" wide hollow bangle features engraving on the front half which extends to the ends of the unengraved back side. It has a hinge, a box clasp and a safety chain. The colour is an intense rose gold and it has both 9 and 375 hallmarks along with an A.L.W.H maker's mark. An antique 9K men's signet ring with a photo locket top. This Victorian gentleman's size 8-1/2 or size 8.5 ring features a 5/8" x 1/2" upper section fashioned from an actual Victorian hinged photo locket which has been soldered shut and engraved with an ornate Gothic GWS monogram. It has Birmingham, England hallmarks for 1864 (no Queen's head). This ring bears an inscription on the interior under the top section of WITH FONDEST LOVE LIZZIE. It weighs 6.7 grams. A Victorian gold filled double slide expanding gentleman's watch fob chain. This 9-1/4" (maximum) chain shrinks to 6-1/8" when the two engraved slides are separated (which contracts the chain forming a double chain between them, shown partly drawn in our second image). It has a t-bar and a swivel as well as two textured balls which act as stops for the slides. It is stamped W.LH.&Co. on the swivel and it is a neat bit of Victorian ingenuity. A Scottish sterling silver banded agate sword and shield brooch pin dated 1863. Although a common form this example is one of the most ornate and best constructed we have seen. It measures 2-3/4 x 1", the silver is deeply and intricately tooled and the cut and polished banded agates are well matched and are gray (or grey), white and blue striped. The shield is mounted by wire pins through loops on the sword back and most unusual is a hand-etched British hallmark shield with the letter and number cyphers indicating a manufacturing date of Dec. 6, 1863. This item is in excellent condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a bend to the C from the original c-clasp (easily straightened).
