A superbly rendered and vividly coloured lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Kasui (1883-1957), entitled "Meguro-Fudo-Do" (Fudo Temple in Meguro). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This item has strong colours and the print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. There is some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain), and some minor yellowing to the paper from age, not affecting the image. An attractive and vintage English gold trimmed bone china 2-1/2" high cup and matching 5-1/8" saucer in the Masquerade pattern in the Avon shape, issued by Royal Albert. This tea cup and saucer features red-tipped black roses and a fine magenta red ground on the saucer and on the outside of the cup. A superbly rendered and atmospheric lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), titled "Ikegami Honmonji Temple" (Honmonji Temple in Snow). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red lifetime seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red-painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. The frame has some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain). An Eiichi Kotozuka Evening Snow At Kiyamachi 1950s framed woodblock Japanese print. This large Oban size print is by Kotozuka (1906-1979) and it has a sight size of 15-1/4 x 10-1/4". It has been matted and framed with a black painted bamboo style 23 x 18-1/4" frame with the print affixed to the mat. The print itself may be 1/4" larger on all sides due to the mat. It has one of the artistic "Koto" seal signatures below the print title as well as the Uchida publisher seal on the upper left of the print. Kiyamachi Street is located in Kyoto, Japan and it is a world heritage site of considerable beauty. It has a Joske's of Texas foil label on back (the department store that sold and framed this print) and the paper has been subtly embossed giving a nice three dimensional effect. Although this print was glazed when we obtained it we will be shipping it without the glass in order to protect the print from damage if the glass were to break in shipment. A 10k opal and rubies oval circlet ring from the 1950s - 1960. This vintage size 7 yellow gold ring features a wonderfully colorful and flashy 70 point genuine opal (calculated by gauge) which has orange, green and blue fire (only hinted at in our pictures). It is surrounded by 14 genuine round cut rubies and the setting measures 1/2" x 3/8" across. This is a classic gem design that has endured through centuries, and the rubies and oval opal enhance each other. Please note that the rubies are a slightly darker red colour than they appear in the photo (on our viewer, anyway). A detailed intaglio Laws Scottish family crest sterling silver seal ring from 1900-1930. This vintage size 7 ring features the family crest from the Laws family with a cockerel atop the shield and the quote from Horace (30 BCE) "COMPOSITUM JUS TASQUE ANIMI" which has various translations referring to justice, uprightness and nobility of the soul (one version states "A mind which respects alike the laws of mutual justice and of god"). It is a true seal ring, with the crest in reverse so it will appear correct on the actual seal. It is shown reversed in one of our images so you can read it. This classic gentleman's pinky ring is stamped STERLING. It has signs of an earlier resizing which likely caused the sterling mark to be barely visible in the last two letters and no maker's mark is presentand it weighs 11.8 grams.
