A rare and unusual japanese oil lamp lamplighter`s kit which dates to the 19th century or earlier. This wonderful and old set is in a gold-trimmed and black lacquer over wood 8-1/2" x 4-1/2 inch box, which stands 6-1/4" inches high. There is gold trim inside as well as on the underside of the lid, with some minor wear and loss, and there is a bruised corner on the upper base. The interior has a divided compartment, and the lighting tools are inserted into a recress in the base. The tools include a brass base and fitted platform which snaps tightly into place; the tools include a pouring pot in the shape of a teapot for the oil and a receptacle with a hinged lid as well as long brass tongs in their holding slot. The pourer has a removable lid revealing a bat-shaped cutout; the receptacle has a pricket for a candle, which was used to light the liquid-fuelled lamps. The drawers are long and shallow and they smell of incense, and the finely-hinged handles lift up in order for the drawer to be opened. They are also brass, and painted black. These lamplighting chests were utilized by Japanese lamplighters, and this one is unsigned but of undeniably fine quality and construction. A truly unusual item from the distant past, in remarkable condition. An Arts and Crafts period 800 silver and cut glass claret jug circa 1900. This antique large claret decanter has a heavy silver handle and hinged top with a ball thumb rest setd on a cut crystal decanter. It measures 13-7/8" in height and 5-1/2" across the base. It is stamped Gebr. Friedland, a Berlin jewellery retai firml, operated by the sons after the death of the founder Friedland in 1829. It has the German silver quality marks (post-1888 crescent & crown stamp), 800 silver, 49961 and the manfacturer's mark for Koch & Bergfeld of Bremen (est. 1829). There is a very finely engraved heraldic family crest with a fish, knight's helmet with three feathers and engraved scrolling. This this top quality rarity is in excellent condition with no cracks, etching or discoloration, silver corrosion or damage, repairs or alterations; there is a 1/4" chip to the crystal on the bottom rim which is only slightly noticeable when the piece is displayed from that side. A strand of genuine cultured pearls circa 1960s with a marked 14K yellow gold clasp and 14k ball spacers. This vintage 38-3/4" necklace has 128 cultured pearls ranging from 7 to 5.5 mm in size. the gold beads consist of one 6.5 mm, two at 4.5 mm and two at 4 mm. The pearls between the gold balls have two smaller pearls flanking three of the 7 mm. pearls, while the pearls leading to the clasp are strung with a length of 5.5 mm pearls leading to a length of 7 mm. pearls. A pair of Qing Dynasty Chinese blue and white deep plates from the 1730-1795 era, or possibly earlier. These rare ~9" across survivors are hand painted in blue on a grey ground, and they have the brown Batavian edge glaze. These Qianlong plates are 1-1/4" deep and they have the expected glaze frit, tiny glaze burns, pitting and flaws except for a 1/4" upper rim chip and central burst bubble central glaze flake on one bowl and a 1/4" chip under the rim on the other. Overall they are in fine condition with no cracks, major flaws, repairs or wear, and they would be a fine addition to your Chinese blue and white collection. A palladium blue sapphire and two opals ring from the 1910-20 era. This size 7-1/4 late Edwardian-early Art Deco ring features a pleasing circular loop design with a central deep blue round faceted 45 point (calculated) sapphire flanked by two bright and flashy cabochon opals. Victorian 14k diamond & opals pendant from 1890-1900. This yellow gold pendant has a central diamond and natural opals surrounding it. The stones are all claw-set, and the old European brilliant cut diamond is 30 points, with I-1 clarity and G-H colour. An early Art Deco 14k white and yellow gold watch chain with slip knot shape long links circa 1920. This vintage 15-1/4" long watchchain is unusual, each link has a slip-knot in the center. The links alternate between white and yellow gold. The spring-ring is a replacement, as unlike the rest of the chain which is 14k, it is 10k. The chain is stamped 585 (14K) on the loop near the swivel. The swivel is a moveable one, with s what appears to be an anchor. (tested for gold content, as it is otherwise unmarked). This Arts and Crafts size 5-1/4 or 5.75 ring measures 3/4" x 5/8" across the claw-set genuine jade gem stone, which appears to be carved with a pomegranate or peach and a pear or fig. A Trajan silver drachm ancient Roman coin in an 18K yellow gold pendant. It is a size 7 and the three diamonds are genuine and brilliant cut, of approximately 10 points each, with a total gem weight of approximately 30 points. The measurement is taken by gauge in setting, the diamonds are set in white gold, the rest of the ring is yellow gold. This modern design signet weighs 8.5 grams.
