An antique Japanese Meiji period solid silver picture frame circa 1880-1900. This antique 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" frame has a bamboo pattern with a patterned ground; it has a textured snakeskin design paper over wood backing that originally had a support foot for standing up the frame. That is now missing and replaced with a wire so it can be hung on the wall. The frame front has copper round-head nails. It retains the original patterned backing paper and glass window. It is unmarked, as was often the case with older Japanese pieces, but tests as very high grade silver, sterling or likely higher, as .950 grade was often used in Japan. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the loss of the foot rest and slight bending at the lower right hand corner (very minor). A Victorian 14k gold synthetic sapphire seed pearls leaf pin brooch from 1880-1890. This attractive2-1/8 x 5/8" brooch is of hollow construction and it has a finely tooled pinioned leaf with seed pearls and a claw-set synthetic sapphire. Fine gem stones like emeralds or sapphires were very expensive in the 19th and early 20th century, so synthetic gems were often used even in gold jewelry. The pearls are natural with the expected surface irregularities and this pin is unmarked but tests as 14k gold. It has the repositioned original c-clasp (the pin closure itself is gold filled) and the leaf rotates around it's original pinion. A 950 silver Komai damascene panels bracelet circa 1900 1920. This scarce bracelet from Japan features eleven 1-1/16" x 3/8" loop-linked panels with inlaid silver and gold on a black matte (actually iron) ground. The panels resemble those in room dividing screens, and each has a different design and a simple engraved design on the back of the silver sections. An early English 7-3/4" high large footed comport or tazza made by Wedgwood in 1878-9. This elegant Neoclassic design table serving piece measures 12-3/4" across the two handles and features fine hand painted gilding, a black transfer design (on top and underneath the plate) and relief molding to the handles, edge and foot. An Art Deco 14k white gold amethyst ring from about 1920. This size 5 oval solitaire ring measures 5/8" x 1/2" across the top and it weighs 4.2 grams. It is stamped 14 K with an arrow maker's mark. The amethyst is a genuine natural stone, is approximately 4 carats in size (estimated in setting by gauge). The elegant scroll and engraving owes as much to the ornate style of the Edwardian period. An ornate 11-1/4" boxed pair of matching sterling silver salad servers, made by Wm. Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, England in 1906. These servers are of heavy construction, and the shanks of the bowls are heavily tooled with an attractive design. The 14-3/4 x 5-1/4" black paper-wrapped box has gold trim, with a fitted satin and velvet interior. The serving pieces weigh a total of 266 grams (including handles) and this set is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a full-length crack on each handle and some separation and splitting on the silver-handle junction on the salad fork. A sterling silver cherubs brush mirror & comb set 1890 to 1900. This wonderfully ornate Victorian period set consists of the 10" x 3-7/8" mirror, the 9-3/8" x 2-1/2" brush with natural bristles, and the 7-5/8" long comb. Each is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and they have the Thomas Hayes maker's mark; the brush year hallmark is 1890, the comb year hallmark is 1898 and the mirror year hallmark is 1900. It is quite normal for these sets to have slightly differing dates on the various pieces from the same firm, as they were assembled into sets for sale from existing stock, and sometimes pieces were purchased over time. All three have a script BETH monogram, and they are in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor edge denting to the brush, and the replacement of the comb with a recent plastic one and a soldered repair to the mirror at the handle/mirror join. The original bevelled mirror is in fairly good shape also, which is not always the case. A Fumio Tamura 1969 Nokemono framed litho print 2/7. This evocative semi-erotic colour lithograph print entitled "Nokemono" (translated from Japanese - outcast) was produced in 1969 by Fumio Tamura (Japan, 1941-). Fumio Tamura was born in the Nagano prefecture, and he graduated from Tokyo Art College in 1968, so this 1969 litho dates from early in his career. It is in a metal frame, and it measures 24-1/2" x 21", with an image size of 18" x 14-1/2". It is a very small edition issue, inscribed in pencil 2/7, with the title in Japanese and in English NOKEMONO and it has the artist's signature F. Tamura '69. It retains the original Toronto gallery sticker on the back, and this print is is in excellent condition with no foxing, tears, staining, fading, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A pair of Lucknow solid silver sweetmeat or bonbon bowls from the Indian Raj period circa 1880 1890. These superbly detailed antique high grade silver 4-7/8" x 4" bowls have a graceful fluted rim. They feature gilt interiors and fine hammered wildlife scenes around the exterior depicting panthers, elephants, birds, dogs, rabbits and others, all with a backdrop of palm trees and tropical foliage. The design is a classic Lucknow silver design of this period, and interior gilding was seen more commonly then also. They have a large hand-tooled peacock figure on the bottom of each bowl, (which is most likely the silversmith's mark), and they test as very high grade silver. These bowls weigh 174 grams in total, and they are in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a tiny notch on the upper edge of one bowl from the testing of the silver content.
