All items have a Gothic G monogram, all are large and extremely heavy, high quality and solid (typical for their age) and all are currently in stock unless marked SOLD. These items are in excellent original condition with no bends, dents, corrosion, losses, plating or pattern ware, damage or repairs unless noted. A Victorian Aesthetic brass dress hem lifter circa 1880. This unusual Victorian design object was made to hold up the hem of a lady's dress. It sounds a little risque, but sometimes you preferred those long skirts not to be near water or mud, as is only sensible. In the Aesthetic design popular at the time (and swans certainly were popular), this solid brass clothing accessory clamps the bottom of the lady's dress with the tongs, which are locked in place by the sliding shield-shaped housing. A cord looped through a (now missing) brass loop at the top of the slider is pulled to raise the hem of the floor-length skirt. It has the word PATENT on the tongs, and this unusual item is in excellent original condition with no dents, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the missing loop and some minor bending of the shield edges. A rare set of the Birth of Edward VII comemorative china 1841. This is a grouping of the rarest Royalty commemmorative souvenirs we have encountered - this is a large covered sugar bowl, creamer and two cups and saucers in English pearlware celebrating the birth of (future) King Edward VII in 1841. Given the title Prince of Wales immediately following his birth, this set features the Prince of Wales feathers and a scene with ICH DIEN ("I Serve") on a banner and depictions of the Princess Royal and the Prince of Wales. Decoration is in a transfer blue which is on the outside of all pieces as well as on the interior of the cups; there are Prince of Wales feathers on the inside of the creamer's spout. Interestingly, the finial has been attached with a bolt and screw assembly which has had glaze applied over it. All pieces are unmarked, the sugar with lid stands 7-1/4" high, the creamer is 5" high, the cups are 2-1/2" high, and the saucers are 6-1/8" across. The sugar bowl's finial has purple highlights and considering its age this set is in very good condition with the following issues: 1)sugar bowl - staining and crazing plus fading on the body, tight 1/2" hairline to rim of lid 2)creamer - fine overall crazing 3)cup 1 - remnants of faded and worn feathers at bottom of bowl and loss of blue leaving black on the interior sidewall decoration (probably from bleaching from tea) 4)cup 2 - wear to feathers leaving brown and blue traces, tiny rim chip to cup 5)saucers - excellent condition. A scarce silver plated three piece youth flatware set in the Oneida Ontario Silver Co. Christine pattern, introduced in 1890. This set consists of the 6-1/8" fork, the 4-3/8" spoon and the 7" solid handle knife with a silver plated blade. This set is in good vintage condition with no breaks, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the expected patina from use, some minor silver wear to the fork and the tip of the knife, and some rounding / bending to the tines of the fork. An antique Chinese lady motif tea chest tin with hasp. This domed trunk style tea chest is 8-7/8" wide and it stands 6" tall. It features a blue and yellow lithographed design and the swing-up brass handle has Victorian style decoration. It also has a brass hasp and eye for a lock and it has a circled DB or BD maker's mark which we haven't identified. By the construction and style we'd say it's late Victorian but it could be slightly later - it is in very good condition with some minor surface corrosion spots, a few minor scrapes and a dent on the bottom along with the expected wear. These pieces bear the Toronto Silver Plate Co. mark (made for them by Rogers), and the pieces include the scarce 8" crimped edge fruit or berry preserves or compote serving spoon and the 8-3/4" casserole serving spoon. An unusual accessory for your cow horn living room suite - this is a late 19th century 8-1/4" pipe or cigar rest and ashtray made of genuine cowhorn. This item features a cowhorn base held with a nut and bolt, and a brass rest for a pipe or cigar. Dating to the 1880s, this unusual smoking collectible is in very good original condition with no cracks, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a crack from use and drying in the "bowl", some minor downward bending to the (formerly curved) rest and some looseness at the bolt. A pair of 8-1/2" sterling silver serving spoons in the Strasbourg pattern, introduced by Gorham in 1897. Each has the PAT. 1897 Gorham sterling lion and anchor mark along with an X in a circle and STERLING and each has a script E monogram. The pair of serving spoons weigh 113 gr. A Hotchkiss & Schreuder sterling master butter knife. This scarce 7" 19thC American sterling silver master butter knife is by Hotchkiss & Schreuder, Syracuse, New York (1850-71). We haven't identified this attractive pattern, and this knife is stamped H&S STERLING H.T. COOK & CO (the retailer). It has a Gothic W monogram, it weighs 38.9 grams, and it is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs.
