A 10k yellow gold and deep purple & blue synthetic alexandrite stone pendant necklace circa 1960. This vintage 1" x 3/4" (sans bale) pendant comes with a 10k yellow gold pendant box link chain. This pendant has a stippled finish and the 16-1/2" box chain has a spring-ring clasp. Each piece is stamped 10K, this necklace weighs 6.3 grams, and the stone's intense purple with blue colour turns blue in outdoor lighting. These vintage simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl.
