A 10k yellow spinel gold ring from the 1950s. This vintage size 7-3/4 or 7.75 yellow gold ring features a claw-set faceted 5/16" x 1/4" across pale yellow spinel. The spinel is an emerald cut gem stone and this ring weighs 2.4 grams. One of the claws comes up above the ring in a lined curl, sort of in an abstract modernist wave design, a bit of an unusual assymetrical look. A pair of Victorian French jet 9k gold and pearl earrings with silver screwback mounts. These 3/4 x 7/16" earrings are in the shape of a shield and the French jet (black glass) is beveled on the edges. An 1894 South Africa 1/2 Kruger Pond 22k gold coin mining brooch pin. This unusual pin was assembled as a souvenir of the South African gold mines and these coins were frequently brought back to the U.K. after the Boer war as souvenirs. This 2-1/8" example was constructed around the same time as the mintage of the coin which is in 22k gold (9 mm, 3.99 grams). It is mounted in a braided ring with finely wrought mine picks and shovel spades with gold nuggets - the setting tests as 10k gold. It has the original c-clasp and a safety chain and it weighs a total of 7.3 grams. Although soldered into the ring the coin remains in superb condition and this scarce historical souvenir of the gold trade in South Africa is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A 12k yellow gold and sterling silver Victorian amethyst ring dated 1897. This size 5-1/2 ring features a natural purple genuine amethyst stone in a multi-claw setting and it has hand engraved foliate inlaid silver shoulders. It measures 5/16 x 1/4" across the stone, it has an obscured set of hallmarks and maker's marks with an O year date for Chester, England 1897 and it weighs 1.4 grams. There is also a tiny hole in the band at one side. A 15k rubies seed pearls shamrocks memento pin brooch from the 1875 era with green, yellow and rose gold. This splendid mid-Victorian 1-3/8" pin has an appealing hand etched floral design with genuine rubies and seed pearls as leaves and flowers. It also features a border with raised flowers alternating with raised and textured shamrocks which have leaves which are split with one side green gold and the other side of each leaf rose gold. On the back it has a compartment with a beveled glass window and retaining bezel which would have probably held a lock or braid of hair but now holds a trimmed tintype portrait of a man. It has a loop for wear as a pendant, it has the original c-clasp and it weighs 11.0 grams (intact). It is typically unmarked and it tests as 15k gold. The hair compartment is quite deep and it would easily hold a gold coin or other memento or even another portrait. A wonderful survivor and an example of the fine quality Victorian jewellers were able to accomplish. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor damage to the cut tintype portrait. There is a slight patina from use which is quite exaggerated in our pictures. We gave this pin a simple surface cleaning only, preferring to leave the 150 years of patina intact. A 15k sardonyx cameo Etruscan style watch or locket pin brooch from the 1860 era. This fine mid-Victorian 2-3/4 x 7/8" pin features a fine carved genuine sardonyx male warrior portrait mounted on an Etruscan style pin with ornate wirework. It is unsigned and it tests as a high 15k (a bit below 18k) and it also has a hook for the suspension of a watch or locket.
