An early Victorian 18k Socrates carnelian intaglio signet ring. This antique size 7-3/4 or 7.75 rose gold mid-19th century ring is completely hand made. It and it features a deeply carved carnelian intaglio portrait of Socrates. It is simply executed but stylish with subtle design flourishes. It measures 7/8 x 5/8" across the bezel-set intaglio gem stone. It has a full set of stretched and now obscured hallmarks - it tests as 18K. Although the stone is a substantial size, this ring in the 18thC and 19thC worn on a gentleman's pinkie finger as a pinkie ring. In order to save gold some jewellers would stretch the shank to resize the ring rather than solder another section of gold to effect the sizing and that appears to be the case here. It weighs 8.4 grams and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, it does show wear and patination commensurate with age.

Victorian cobalt glass oil lamp with etched chimney and enamel from the 1890s. This tall table lamp has a 10-1/2" deep cobalt blue base with an open cut pontil, an original Plume & Atwood Mfg. Co. 2-3/4" brass burner and collar and an etched glass 9-1/4" large glass chimney. The burner has a second 1897 renewed patent date and the burner and flat wick show no signs of use at all (no wick char or burner darkening) and there is no smell of lamp oil or kerosene. The body of the lamp has hand painted white, gold and yellow decoration with gold leaves and the chimney has a band of ribbons and torches. It stands a total of 21" tall and it is all-original and not a recent copy. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs however the shallow chimney acid etching has a few worn spots and the gold leaves on the base show some wear as well. A Victorian Aesthetic butterflies gilt basket with a cranberry glass bowl liner dated 1869. This antique serving piece is truly superb, from the immaculately detailed gilded butterfly basket with a swing handle to the original cranberry glass bowl with a polished base. The three feet have fine hand engraving and most unusually each of the seven butterflies has the old English diamond registry mark incorporated into the design, not added or stamped on later. Although unsigned this is a work of superb craftsmanship and the registry number dates the design to 1869. It measures 4-1/2" across and it stands 5-3/4" tall with the handle upright. A vintage Waterloo Academy clarinet in its original fitted 1930s-50s style hardbody case, complete with an Evette and Schaeffer France mouthpiece and six new packaged reeds. All pieces are present, all valves and springs are operational, and all pieces save the mouthpiece are stamped WATERLOO ACADEMY (possibly Waterloo, Ontario, Canada). We don't play the clarinet and we aren't sure of its key however all pieces appear to be present. The horn appears to be in very good condition with a patina from use but no breaks or repairs, and the case has been repaired in brown tape. This item appears to be in in very good condition as described. A W.E. Welding Brantford Ontario 4 gallon eared stoneware crock with blue floral decoration 1873-94. This attractive, antique Canadian pottery crock measures 12" tall and 11-1/2" across, it has two ear handles and attractive blue tulips decoration with blue splash over the impressed Welding markings. Welding was in business with W.W. Belding in Brantford (1867-72) and went solo in 1873 after their factory burnt down in 1872. The glaze on this pickle or food storage crock is an attractive deep tan with minor dark kiln shadowing, the floral decoration is only slightly blistered and intact and the interior is intact. It is in very good condition with no damage or repairs other than a base chip to the left of the tulips and a tight, inconspicuous hairline on the backside top rim between the ear handles and a tight, slightly branched surface impact crack beside the decoration which doesn't penetrate to the interior. A gilt metal and screen-printed plastic pub advertising sign for Whitbread Tankard beer circa 1950s 1960. This vintage 8-5/8" x 3-1/8" bar table or counter advertising sign has white, gold, red and gold screening on a royal blue plastic oval, set in to a metal tripod-style base. Whitbread Tankard is an English beer, first introduced in 1958 or 1959 by the Whitbread brewery. (The Whitbread brewery is no longrer in business). William Comyns English Arts & Crafts sterling nurse's belt buckle, fully hallmarked for London, England 1901-2. This stunning 2 piece buckle weighs 79.6 grams, it measures 4-3/4" x 2-3/4" in total, it has the stylized A&C flower bud in the central sections, and the curvilinear border with beaded pierced gallery gives this piece excellent motion. While William Comyns was a productive producer of silver small wares, his Arts & Crafts period work is not common, and as in this case, it was well made and of excellent quality. It has the Comyns hallmarks on the front and an engraved Rd No 362586 for 1900 on the back. This great piece of English Arts & Crafts silver design is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A World War II nurse's cloak or cape with black and red from the 1940s. This authentic military collectible has a 16" collar (hook to hook), it is 40-3/4" long and it has one closure with two button holes. It was made by Lac-Mac in London (Ontario) Canada and it has the original black painted hanging chain as well as SCGH embroidered on the back of the collar (possibly for St. Catharines General Hospital as it was obtained locally). It has a stitched M.L.M. monogram on the inside of the lapel over the pocket and this wool uniform is in very good condition with no rips, tears, losses, damage or repairs other than some paint loss to the hanging chain and some wear/rubs and a small repair to the inside of the collar.
