A scarce antique period sterling silver filigree posey holder or tussie mussie c1900. Late Victorian or early Edwardian period posey holders, popularly known as tussie mussies in the UK, were used to hold floral bridal bouquets. William Comyns English Arts & Crafts sterling nurse's belt buckle, fully hallmarked for London, England 1901-2. This stunning 2 piece buckle weighs 79.6 grams, it measures 4-3/4" x 2-3/4" in total, it has the stylized A&C flower bud in the central sections, and the curvilinear border with beaded pierced gallery gives this piece excellent motion. While William Comyns was a productive producer of silver small wares, his Arts & Crafts period work is not common, and as in this case, it was well made and of excellent quality. This highly detailed 1-1/2" wide and 1-1/8" tall group depicts a pair of finely detailed quail birds with brown, white and red cold painting.
