An early English 7-3/4" high large footed comport or tazza made by Wedgwood in 1878-9. This elegant Neoclassic design table serving piece measures 12-3/4" across the two handles and features fine hand painted gilding, a black transfer design (on top and underneath the plate) and relief molding to the handles, edge and foot. It is in the Corinth pattern, which is marked in underglaze black transfer lettering, and it is impressed WEDGWOOD PEARL with GH over P, 1813 pattern number and a triangle mark. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than some very minor glaze rubs to the underside of the top edge in afew spots. A Nambe 19thC Meiji Japanese Satsuma bowl. This expertly decorated Meiji period 19th century 4-3/8" across and 1-7/8" tall Japanese Satsuma bowl features a cobalt blue ground with lush gold highlights inside and out. The interior has a well-painted Geisha scene in an assortment of colours. It has the signature of Nambe on the bottom, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some overall fine crazing (not visible on the cobalt portions). A large and elegant European silver goblet of modern design by Wilhelm Binder of Schwabisch Gmund (Germany), established in 1869. This goblet apparently dates c1900-10. It measures 8-3/4" (24cm) in height, and measures 4-1/4" (just under 11 cm) across the rim. It weighs approximately 227 grams. It is stamped with the German post-1886 crescent moon and crown mark, 835 WTB and has a company number of 73123 and a small punch mark we could not make out. It has not been monogrammed or inscribed, and it is in excellent condition, with no dents, breaks, corrosion, repairs or damage. A rare Georgian whiskey barrel figural string holder. This superb, unusual vintage Georgian whiskey or ale cask figural string holder is from the 1800-30 era. String was a valuable and useful item in the Georgian home, and this holder could also have held embroidery thread for sewing. Made of beautifully figured rosewood with a great patina and trimmed with gilt brass bands held with hand made nails, this string dispenser has a detailed brass spigot through which the string emerges. There is a mounted steel cutting blade in the form of the spigot's handle, and the whole barrel sits on a rosewood plinth. The workmanship is superb, and it has remnants of a velvet-covered bottom. The base measures 3-7/8" x 2-7/8" and it stands 3-1/2" high. Made for a well-to-do household, this holder is in excellent original condition with no corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some age shrinkage of the wood causing the brass bands to sit a bit above the wood surface, some minor loss to the gilding and some minor age cracks to the rosewood base. A rare, early English flow blue covered entree or casserole dish c1860. This serving piece stands 7" high with the lid, and it measures 11-1/4" x 10-1/2". It has a floral style motif, and it has a pseudo Chinese mark, minor variants of which were used by Charles Meigh (1835-49), Charles Meigh & Son (1851-61) and also Job Meigh (c1805-34), all of Hanley, Staffordshire; we feel it dates c1850-60 but it could be of earlier manufacture. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight 2-1/2" hairline crack on the lid and some scattered craze lines on the top and bottom. A pair of 19thC Japanese Meiji blue and white porcelain covered bowls. This fine pair consists of the 4-3/4" diameter footed bowls and their 5-1/4" covers with a rimmed foot or receptacle on the top. The covers can be placed on the rim to act as side dishes to the bowls. The hand painted blue and white design includes dragons, panels and scenes and each has hand painted gold highlights. An Edwardian 15k Mother of Pearl 6 button set in original box circa 1900 1910. The antique mother-of-pearl shirt or vest buttons with 15k yellow gold criss-cross centers and loops (unmarked but tested) comes in the original presentation box/case. An ornate and extremely well-made silver plated roll top bacon or breakfast server c1880. This beauty has reeded legs with claw and ball feet, Greek style square handles, a threaded finger lift for the rolltop and a fancy pierced drip insert which sits in the removable inner dish. It has thumbwheels holding the assembly together, and the threaded sleeves come apart in two halves for mounting - a complex and high quality feature of this very expensive piece destined only for the richest Victorian households. A pair of English Imari lustre jugs from the 1830s. This decorative unmarked pair of early to mid 19thC English jugs or pitchers is in the Imari colours with pink Sunderland luster. The largest is 8" tall and the smaller is 7"; both have embossed decoration and are hand painted. These jugs are in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs except for some minor glaze flakes and craze lines on the upper rim of the larger jug, some allover crazing on the smaller jug, a couple of straight-line craze lines on the smaller one that don't appear on the external side of the piece, and some very minor spots of wear to the decoration. A 19thC Farrar Batiscan Quebec 4 gallon handled wine jug or crock, for the Marchand & Co spice, wine and liquor merchant. This 18-3/4" tall handled salt glazed stoneware jug still has the cork and it is completely hand thrown. It has a blue floral design identical with other known Farrar examples and it has a blue-wiped impressed legend stating "MARCHAND & CO MARCHANDS EPCIERES VINS ET LIQUEURS BATISCAN 4". Moses and Ebenezer Farrar were from Vermont, and they established one of the earliest stoneware potteries in Canada around 1840. Their first pottery was in St Johns Quebec, and later in Iberville Quebec. Their merchant crocks were usually not signed (by preference of the merchant, who was advertising their own goods). They closed somewhere around 1927, after the death of Ebenezer's son Georg H Farrar ((source: Early Canadian Pottery, Donald Webster, 1971). It is in very good condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some edge chips near the mouth and some original kiln burning to the blue design. A Martin Hall Victorian English silver plated meat dome. This 12-1/4" x 9-3/8" meat dome or cover was made by Martin, Hall & Co. of Sheffield, England (1854-1934). This table serving piece features a bolted and pegged finial with a wing nut and it stands 8-3/4" high. It is stamped 1127 EPNS with the maker's mark, and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than one small penpoint protruberant dent and a nearby shallow penpoint dent. The plating is completely intact and this dome is in superb condition. A quality late 19thC 750 silver jug with baronial crests by J Wagner and Sohn ( Son ) Germany. This antique 5-1/4" tall cream pitcher has a wrythen or twisted groove style and a thumb rest as well as classic hoof shape feet. It is stamped J. WAGNER & SOHN 750 M, it weighs 195 grams, and it has two finely engraved baronial heraldic crests engraved on one side indicating that it was probably originally a wedding present. An unusual mid 19thC Japanese Imari 12 sided handled mug 1850. This 3-1/8" tall and 3-3/4" across the top Japanese porcelain mug features the Imari colours of red, orange, gold and blue, and it was undoubtedly made for the European market. It has the expected minor pebbling, bubbling and frit in the glaze, and it is in very good original condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor wear to the gilding and a small chip to the underside interior rim, which has some underglaze stress cracks. An antique embroidered silk with cotton back bed hanging or valance from the Xuantong era in the late Qing period 1908 - 1912. This beautiful fringed antique valance has fine embroidery, including gold thread and multi-color silk thread depicting flowers, butterflies, fish, people and many other symbolic figures and images, with fine short and long stitch embroidery and extraordinarily fine seed stitching. It is mounted on a pinkish cotton backing and it has a fine 7" fringe and edge netting. There are some black silk embroidered characters with the Xuantong era date. It has sewn red loops on the back of the fringe edge for the suspension of some article(s) and the top has a sewn fold for hanging much like a curtain-on-rod. The fabric section measures 81-1/2" x 18-1/2 inches. These fine embroideries were usually made to add to the bed of the newly married couple by the bride or her family. This item is in mostly excellent vintage condition with no tears, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor soiling to the cotton backing and some traces of thumbtacks from previous hangings and slight wear.
