An outstanding Art Deco sterling silver enamel and marcasites pendant necklace circa 1930. The pendant itslf measures 2" x 1" (including enamelled bale loop). It features colorful matte enamel in of geometric flowers in lilac, yellow, orange, lime green, blue and black with various sizes of marquisites. Please note that the colors may appear several shades brighter in our pictures than they are in real life, and the blue is a light royal blue, not turquoise. It is stamped EN in a kidney-shaped cartouche and STERLING on the back - we are still researching the maker. it weighs 7.5 grams (pendant only). We were unable to find any corresponding information about this mark, at first glance it looks very much like a piece produced by the Theodor Farhner firm, who were well known for such fine matte enamel finishes and the extensive use of marquisites. It is shown with a very recent sterling silver chain which is not included. This item is in good condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion or repairs other than a visible loss to the red-orange enamel and a couple of very short surface abrasions to the blue (just visible with a loupe). This round yellow gold pin shows the transition from stylized Victorian to the more flowing Art Nouveau influence. It measures 1 inch across, and in the centre is a claw set clear white genuine European antique cut diamond, measuring 3.5 mm. across (approximately 20 pt. by gauge) - it is is VS2 diamond of I-J colour. It has the original gate-latch safety clasp, where it is stamped 14 K. It is in very good condition, with all of the claw work in excellent condition, and the diamond in excellent condition also, but please note there appears to be an old professional repair visible only on the back of the brooch. It comes with an old appraisal.

Anything Egyptian was all the rage at this time, and this 2-1/4" x 5/8" brooch is typical. The beetles are real, they are a chrysomelid, also known as a tortoise beetle.
