A Victorian 14k gold synthetic sapphire seed pearls leaf pin brooch from 1880-1890. This attractive2-1/8 x 5/8" brooch is of hollow construction and it has a finely tooled pinioned leaf with seed pearls and a claw-set synthetic sapphire. Fine gem stones like emeralds or sapphires were very expensive in the 19th and early 20th century, so synthetic gems were often used even in gold jewelry. The pearls are natural with the expected surface irregularities and this pin is unmarked but tests as 14k gold. It has the repositioned original c-clasp (the pin closure itself is gold filled) and the leaf rotates around it's original pinion. A superb and evocative 1-5/8 x 1-3/8" mid-Victorian mourning pin in 14k yellow gold (unmarked but tested). This pin features a carved pink coral hand with black enamel bands on its sleeve, holding a wreath of flowers and leaves. There are seed pearls in the flower centers and there is a claw-set pearl in the center. It has a reeded edge and a c-clasp which has been added a bit later for wear as a brooch; originally it would have been a pendant and a small loop remains at the top. This size 7-1/2 ring measures 1/2" x 7/16" across the top which has oval-shaped natural half pearls and a combination of cabachon and cushion-cut and mine-cut almandine garnets. This ring tests as 15k gold, and it has been re-hooped, resulting in the loss of any original hallmarks (if ever present). An 18k Victorian 5 pearls row engagement ring from the 1880s 1890. This antique size 5 ring features a row of five genuine pearls which in Victorian times meant fidelity, love, loyalty and purity. These were the wedding fashion before the diamond engagement ring came into vogue and this example tests as a minimum of 18 k gold (the marks are obscured and it may be as high as 22 carat). It measures 3/4" along the pearls setting and it weighs 4.5 grams. A large 10K rotating hair brooch with photo 1860-70. This opulent (typically unmarked but tested) 10k yellow gold rotating or turning hair brooch has a photo on the other side. This mid-Victorian 2-5/8 x 2-3/8" pin features a finely plaited brown and blonde hair display on one side and a hand-tinted albumin photograph of a bearded and bald gentleman on the other. Each side is under glass and the center display rotates freely on its perpendicular pivot. It has its original c-clasp and attached loop for wear as a pendant, and it weighs 27.6 grams.
