An antique 12k gold genuine rhodolite garnets and mine cut diamonds ring circa 1890 1900. This antique size 7-1/2 or 7.5 ring has four genuine true red colour garnets surrounded by twenty genuine mine cut diamonds in a classic marquise shape. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use as would be expected. Silver and silver plated items are hand-polished, not buffed, and our halogens and magnified images may exaggerate otherwise barely noticeable scratches and flaws. An 18k sapphires and diamonds double row ring circa 1980. This vintage custom made yellow gold wedding band is a size 6-3/4 or 6.75 and set with either genuine blue sapphires or genuine blue spinels and diamonds. It features 12 fairly well-matched channel set royal blue gem stones in groups of four separated by two pairs of single point genuine diamonds. There is a slight variation of shades of blue in the stones, and they are fairly clear gems. The sapphires/spinels are princess cut or square cut, and are bezel set, so their size is 5-6 points each, estimated by gauge in setting. It weighs 3.1 gr. and the flat band design feels comfortable on and sits so could be worn with a solitaire ring. It measures 5/8" across the gem section and is 3/16" wide. It is stamped 750 (for 18 K ). The gem stones may be just a shade deeper blue than our photos, due to photo flash. It would make a unique wedding band for those who would like more than diamonds. An Edwardian 14k yellow gold sunburst diamond and seed pearls ring circa 1900 1910. This unusual antique ring of genuine seed pearls and a genuine diamond is in the sunburst or starburst shape popular with lavalieres at the time, it was more likely a representation of a daisy or some other flower. The sunburst has 10 petals with genuine seed pearls and it has a central claw-set 8 point (measured by flat stone gauge) genuine antique European cut diamond; the shank is stamped 14K with a JIC maker's mark. I have never seen this ring before in 38 years in antiques. It is possible that this piece was produced at a slightly later date, but the ring shank is an appropriate one for the period, and the setting is properly mounted and appears original. This ring weighs 6.3 grams, and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses or damage other than some glue residue on a couple of reset pearls (an old repair, and is restorable). The pearls have some colour variation, which is not unusual. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. An antique 14k opals and diamonds and synthetic ruby ring circa 1900. This classic late Victorian period yellow gold ring is set with two natural round cabochon opals with four antique cut genuine diamonds on each side of a central lab created ruby. This size 7 ring has natural opals with fine green and blue fire and a fiery orange internal color. The genuine diamonds are approximately 2 - 2.5 points each and the central synthetic ruby is 4 mm. across. These rings were often engagement or wedding rings for those who could afford them, diamond-only engagement rings didn't become popular until the 20th century. Synthetic rubies of this period were what we refer to as lab created gems now, they are treated genuine lesser price actual gem stones. The lab treatment gives them the appearance of genuine high price gem stones. White sapphires were and occasionally still are a stone of choice, they wear well also, as sapphires are a 9 on the Mohs stone hardness scale. Cut glass or rhinestone copies of stones are not the same. It measures 5/8" x 3/16" across the setting, the ring is unmarked due to a probable re-hooping in the past. It tests as 14k gold,) and it weighs 3.1 grams. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some slight dulling to the surface of the opals from light wear commensurate with their age. A 14k gold Mabe pearl and diamonds pearl enhancer pendant for a necklace. This vintage beauty has an 12mm x 6mm genuine Mabe pearl surrounded by six round genuine brilliant cut diamonds circa 1970s. Mabe pearls grow on the inside of the shell rather than the centre, so they are curved at the front but flatter at back. This necklace pendant has a pearl enhancer type loop, which means it can also be worn over a strand of pearls or some other gem stone or bead necklace also. Also lovely on a chain alone as the pendant. The pearl alone measures 12 mm. across and the six genuine modern single cut diamonds are set in white gold, with yellow gold surrounding. It weighs 3.6 grams and it has a swing-open clasp with a snap-on safety catch. Great idea for a wedding pearl necklace that can be worn over pearls or other beads. The entire pendant size is 6mm (a bit over 5/8" across - that measurement does not include the loop section, it is the measurement of the pearl section only. Including loop, it is 22mm, or approximately 7/8". The pearl is approximately 1/4" or 6mm deep, possibly just a bit more, as it is measured in setting. It is stamped 14 K. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, losses, repairs or damage. All Items : Archives : Estate Jewelry : Silver : Pre Victorian : Pre 1920 item #1087509 (stock #6523)
A scarce sterling silver filigree posey holder pin circa 1900 1910. This antique 2-1/4" long and 1" across (unmarked but tested) fantastic posy or corsage brooch is an example of ornate and very fine silver work. The ball and wire end makes me think it may be an older Indonesian / Yogya piece. It was assembled from three separate sections of filigree silver. It may be older than our estimate. This possible bridal item either started out as a flower bouquet holder and had the pin added or was always a posy-pin. It has a c-clasp. It can readily be converted to (or back to) a small bouquet holder. It weighs 12.6 grams, and it is in excellent condition for its age and fineness, with no corrosion or repairs other than what appears to be a small section of missing wire and the c-clasp has been repaired. All condition issues are noted. All items are vintage or antique and may have signs of use and patination as would be expected. An antique Art Nouveau period Scottish sterling silver two piece belt buckle, depicting the Green Man, a well known creature from ancient United Kingdom mythology. He is associated with birth and re-birth, and the coming of spring. Wide silver buckles of this size - 4-3/4" x 2-3/8" - in solid silver, silver plate or gold were often presented to a young graduate nurses by their families or by consultants at the hospital they were then working as graduate nurses, as their badge was the wide black belt of their nursing uniform. One of my nurse friends who trained in the UK says this practice was still usual into the 1950s. This buckle is fully hallmarked for Glasgow, Scotland 1897-8 and it has the maker's mark for (possibly) James Forest.
