They both have a painted 316 pattern number and the plate has an impressed PEARL WHITE mark. An antique Unger Bros sterling silver stamp safe or case circa 1890. This scarce late Victorian era 1-7/8" x 1-3/8" American sterling silver stamp safe has a lovely floral repouse design. This pocket stamp carrier is similar to a match safe in appearance, but smaller and without the striker edge. It has two circular cutouts on the upper edge for grasping the stamps. In the Victorian era, letter writing was a more popular pastime, so these boxes were a necessity to a well appointed desk. But not every writer had one, they are uncommon and are quite collectible today. It is stamped STERLING 925 FINE with the Unger Brothers maker's mark (they were in business 1872-1914), and it weighs 11.2 grams. An ornate Victorian SP ink stand with ink pot, drawer and pen rest 1860. A wonderful mid-Victorian silverplated ink stand with a Feb. 20, 1860 registration date. This 11-1/2 x 7-1/2" stand features a pottery inkwell in a domed lidded brass holder mounted on the deck, which also has a brass pen rest. Besides the ornate hand-engraving, it also has a copper military button mounted with a screw and bolt. The shoulders have a high relief vine and berries design and it has scroll feet. It has a sliding drawer with pen and paper compartments as well, and it has the British registration key and the PP&S maker's mark for Padley, Parking & Standforth of Sheffield, England (operating from 1855-80). A Sevres style hand painted portrait plate from the 19thC signed Amblet. This late 19thC cabinet or display plate is 9-5/8" across and it features fine gilding, a scalloped edge with high relief gilt vines with a pink ground and a beautiful signed free hand painted central portrait of a pretty young woman picking flowers. The plate has the genuine three part Sevres marks, which include the Louis Philippe 1844 mark (this mark actually dates to the late 19th century), the Chateau de Tuileries wreath and the S. 37 in lozenge year date. The portrait is signed F. Amblet, and this fine example of vintage French porcelain is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a very slight touch of wear to the gold on the ribs where they enter the painted scene. A rare and unusual japanese oil lamp lamplighter`s kit which dates to the 19th century or earlier. This wonderful and old set is in a gold-trimmed and black lacquer over wood 8-1/2" x 4-1/2 inch box, which stands 6-1/4" inches high. There is gold trim inside as well as on the underside of the lid, with some minor wear and loss, and there is a bruised corner on the upper base. The interior has a divided compartment, and the lighting tools are inserted into a recress in the base. The tools include a brass base and fitted platform which snaps tightly into place; the tools include a pouring pot in the shape of a teapot for the oil and a receptacle with a hinged lid as well as long brass tongs in their holding slot. The pourer has a removable lid revealing a bat-shaped cutout; the receptacle has a pricket for a candle, which was used to light the liquid-fuelled lamps. The drawers are long and shallow and they smell of incense, and the finely-hinged handles lift up in order for the drawer to be opened. They are also brass, and painted black. These lamplighting chests were utilized by Japanese lamplighters, and this one is unsigned but of undeniably fine quality and construction. A truly unusual item from the distant past, in remarkable condition. A 7-1/2" German or Austrian porcelain hand painted figurine of a bugler. This mid to late 19th century figure features fine hand painting with gold, orange, blue, tan and realistic flesh colours; it is in a style similar to Heubach figures, but many European factories of this period were producing such figures, and it has a shiny rather than matte glaze. It is unsigned except for a painted XX, and it is in very good original condition with no chips, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight crack on the base at the back and some gilt wear. There are original glazed firing cracks at the elbows, right front leg and hat at the thigh, but these are original to the manufacture of the piece, not later damage. A Victorian bisque double shell young boy figural mantle vase from the late 1800s. This 5-1/4" tall figurine is fully hand painted and of top quality - quite like the fineness of Schafer & Vater. It consists of a young boy with a hat seated between two shells. The vase is in a nice greenish/blue colour and it has lots of gold jewelling. It is unsigned except for a painted 74 and a faint impressed underglaze 524 (we think). A signed Christopher Dresser Linthorpe pottery plate circa 1880. This superb and rare Linthorpe high relief 8" English pottery plate features a naturalistic branch with leaves with a rustic white/yellow glaze on the front and no glazing on the back. It is stamped LINTHORPE Ch. Dresser HT on the back; Dresser was the designer for this factory c1879-89 and Henry Tooth was the manager prior to 1883, making the date of manufacture 1879-83. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs, with only the slightest touches of wear to the glaze on the highest points (barely noticeable). An English polychrome blue & white transfer milk jug circa 1850. This 19th century decorative 5-3/4" tall jug measures 6-1/2" from spout to handle, and it has a Chinese scene design. The colours are green, teal, orange and yellow and the design is continued on the inside upper rim and spout. A Howard Sterling Co. 4 piece brush and mirror set from the 1890s. This high relief, decorative personal grooming set consists of the 10 x 5" hand mirror with beveled glass, the 9-1/4 x 3" hair brush, the 5-5/8 x 1-3/4" small clothes or shoulder brush and the 7 x 2-1/2" large clothes brush. This vanity or dresser set matches, it has the Howard marks, STERLING, 925/1000 and a patent date of 1892 (PAT. '92.). Not all pieces have all of the marks but they certainly match and each piece has a fancy script AGA (or AJA) monogram. A 19th century Rococo revival silver plated ornate wine bottle stand/carrier c1875-80. This two bottle stand has a Gothic railing surrounding the bottle section, and a handle adorned by the three Graces with birds on the handle. The base has naturalistic slightly rococo flowers and leaves. It measures just over 12 inches in height, and the base measures 12" x 5-1/8". The handle can be unbolted from the base for easier polishing. There is a spot near the base at the bottom of the handle which appears to have been re-soldered professionally at some point in the past, and one spike is missing from the Gothic railing (and a few others are slightly bent). It has been lightly polished and much of the original plating is intact (you can finish polishing it if you wish). This item is in very good original condition with no dents, corrosion, damage or repairs other than stated above. A superb quality 4-3/8" across Sorrento ware wood inlay trinket or jewellery box from the mid to late 19th century. This box stands 1-3/4" high and it has wonderful colour and workmanship. The sides feature red banding and a Greek key design in green, yellow and black with a brown ground. The top is the highlight, with literally thousands of individually placed fruitwood tesserae in a needlepoint-style flower and leaf panel decoration - the effect isquite similar to a carpet; the colours are bright and unfaded and the fine workmanship is remarkable. The interior of the box is olive wood. The condition of this unsigned, brass-hinged box is very good indeed for a box of its age and type, with only some very small barely noticeable losses and craquelure to the finish. There is a small loss along the edge of one corner panel, some minor lid warping to the hinge and front edge leaving small gaps, a thin crack and small corner losses to one lower red band on one side panel and the possible replacement of one half of one hinge with a non-brass one. A true survivor. This is a 6-3/4" x 5" double well papier-mache tea caddy with ornate decoration with a porcelain miniature c1850-60. This attractive tea caddy stands 4-1/4" high and the hinged lid lifts to reveal the twin compartments, whose lids have hand carved and decorated mother-of-pearl grips. The wells have a gray painted lining. It has conical decorated gilt brass feet and ornate hand painted polychrome and gold decoration on the lid, base and front panel. An unusual feature consists of a gilt brass mount holding a hand painted porcelain miniature of a lady on the lid. This box retains the original lock (no key), and it has some condition issues: losses to the lid's corners, some loss and darkening to areas of the decoration due to a fire which coated the box in soot, loss of gilding to the portrait's brass mount, splitting of one wood foot, some craqueleur to the black finish, damage to the hinge mounts on the lid (which is detached from the hinges). The soot was gently removed and a lot of the decoration remains - otherwise this is a survivor which can be restored. This handsome caddy is sold in as is as described condition, we do not know a restorer. Majolica grape and vine pitcher with a pewter lid with a leaf motif, most likely for serving wine outdoors circa 1880s. It is 8-1/2" tall and hand painted in brown, blue and green colors. It is unmarked except for what looks like a 70 painted onto the bottom. Majolica is an antique form of pottery, with a great revival of interest in the 19thC.
