A WWI sterling silver drafting pencil from 1918. This World War I vintage 3-3/8" x 1/2" sterling pencil has a red-painted flat drafting pencil included. The case is fully hallmarked for Sheffield England 1918, it weighs 9.0 grams and it is engraved A. OSBORNE. CANADIAN ENG 21st MAR 1916 22nd OCT. 1918. It was made by S. Mordan & Co. and the pencil is marked HB *ROYAL SOVEREIGN E WOLFF & SON BRITISH MAKE. A Wm. Hutton silver plated Arts & Crafts egg stand for 5 with spoons circa 1900. This decadent egg serving stand consists of five 1-3/4" tall ball footed egg cups, the matching 4-1/2" ball-end egg spoons and the fitted 5-7/8" diameter base. The base is in the form of a deep round tray with mounting spikes for each egg cup which has a receptacle hole in the bottom; each egg cup retains some of its original interior gilding. The detachable screw-mound carrying handle has a rack for the five spoons and each piece has the maker's mark for Wm. Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, England. This fine set is in the Arts and Crafts style - simple, unadorned and functional. It has a 10019 pattern number and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs. A William IV sterling silver vinaigrette made by Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England 1833. Vinaigrettes were used in the 18th and 19th century as a personal hygiene accessory for the moneyed class and were used to carry pleasant oils and attars or vinegars which were absorbed into cloth pads under the pierced gilded grillwork and sniffed so as to cover up the smells of everyday life (when there were open sewers and waste and garbage were tossed from windows onto the sidewalks and streets below). This 1-7/16 x 1" example has fine hand engraving and it retains the fine openwork grill and gilding. It has the hallmarks and maker's mark for Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England and the date letter for 1833. It has a gothic M monogram on the top and it is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some signs of slightly abrasive polishing in the past.

An early English 7-3/4" high large footed comport or tazza made by Wedgwood in 1878-9. This elegant Neoclassic design table serving piece measures 12-3/4" across the two handles and features fine hand painted gilding, a black transfer design (on top and underneath the plate) and relief molding to the handles, edge and foot. It is in the Corinth pattern, which is marked in underglaze black transfer lettering, and it is impressed WEDGWOOD PEARL with GH over P, 1813 pattern number and a triangle mark. A vintage Mt. Washington Quilted Diamonds huge rose bowl. This true vintage Victorian cased glass rose bowl is in attractive aqua blue and it dates around 1890. This 5-1/4" high and 6-1/4" across crimped edge posey vase is in the satin finish Quilted Diamonds pattern, produced by Mt. Washington glass. A Victorian silver plate rolltop butter dish or server in the Aesthetic style from the 1880s. This antique beauty was made by Meriden and it has all of the hallmarks of quality and Victorian style and mechanical complexity. It has a pedestal base, a handle with floral decoration, high relief borders and a roll top with a pressed floral design. The rolling lid rests on two pins secured with a chained pinion and there are mounts on each side for a pair of butter knives. This steampunk item remains in reasonable condition with a few issues - one knife rest is missing (3 are intact), one side of one mounting bracket for the retaining pins is broken off, there is some pitting on the interior where a (now missing) ice liner would have been and there is a bit of plating loss on a few areas. The rolltop is functional and this would make a great decor item or table centerpiece (and a great "what is it?" for your next dinner party). An ornate and extremely well-made silver plated roll top bacon or breakfast server c1880. This beauty has reeded legs with claw and ball feet, Greek style square handles, a threaded finger lift for the rolltop and a fancy pierced drip insert which sits in the removable inner dish. It has thumbwheels holding the assembly together, and the threaded sleeves come apart in two halves for mounting - a complex and high quality feature of this very expensive piece destined only for the richest Victorian households. An antique Unger Bros sterling silver stamp safe or case circa 1890. This scarce late Victorian era 1-7/8" x 1-3/8" American sterling silver stamp safe has a lovely floral repouse design. This pocket stamp carrier is similar to a match safe in appearance, but smaller and without the striker edge. It has two circular cutouts on the upper edge for grasping the stamps. In the Victorian era, letter writing was a more popular pastime, so these boxes were a necessity to a well appointed desk. But not every writer had one, they are uncommon and are quite collectible today. It is stamped STERLING 925 FINE with the Unger Brothers maker's mark (they were in business 1872-1914), and it weighs 11.2 grams. A TJ&J Mayer superb glazed moulded stoneware jug from the 18303s - 1850s. This wonderfully detailed and high quality glazed English high relief stoneware pitcher is 9-1/2" in height. It has a chocolate brown stippled ground on which is laid very thick allegorical scenes with palm trees in greyish coloured clay. It is known as the Paul and Virginia design. The hand-carved detail is stunning and even the handle is decorated with fronds and a stalk. The lip has two holes for the fitting of a pewter lid which was an option with these jugs - this example was never fitted. It has the stamped T.J.&J. MAYERS PATENT mark with DALE HALL POTTERY LONGPORT under the Royal Arms mark which was in use from c1843-55. It also has a No 102 18 pattern mark and the registry number for 1850. Made by James Dixon & Sons, this basket has ornate repousse decoration in the bowl as well as attractive design to the ornate handle. It has a presentation inscription in the centre, as it was presented as a gift in September 1896, and it weighs an impressive 595 grams. A stunning hand painted Art Nouveau porcelain centerpiece 1890 1900. This true Nouveau table decoration is likely German or Austrian. This 14-1/4" tall and 10-1/4" wide decorative item would look good on the table or on the mantlepiece. Constructed of two pieces, the bowl and base, it has a figure on a column in the center of the lower bowl, which has finely molded openwork flowing handles. All parts of this display piece are fully handpainted, from the finely detailed face to the fine gold highlights. The finish is mostly matte, with the interiors, body of the figure and central panel in a gloss surface. The interiors of the bowls have a lustre finish. The bowl attaches to the base column with a brass cylindrical mount and sleeve, and this ornate piece is unmarked. The condition of this item is remarkable - it has survived completely intact with no wear, losses or any damage whatsoever over the last 110 or so years. A sterling silver cherubs brush mirror & comb set 1890 to 1900. This wonderfully ornate Victorian period set consists of the 10" x 3-7/8" mirror, the 9-3/8" x 2-1/2" brush with natural bristles, and the 7-5/8" long comb. Each is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and they have the Thomas Hayes maker's mark; the brush year hallmark is 1890, the comb year hallmark is 1898 and the mirror year hallmark is 1900. It is quite normal for these sets to have slightly differing dates on the various pieces from the same firm, as they were assembled into sets for sale from existing stock, and sometimes pieces were purchased over time. All three have a script BETH monogram, and they are in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor edge denting to the brush, and the replacement of the comb with a recent plastic one and a soldered repair to the mirror at the handle/mirror join. The original bevelled mirror is in fairly good shape also, which is not always the case. A Staffordshire figurine of a goatherd girl on a goat circa 1930 1850. This antique English figure dates to the early to mid quarter of the 19thC. She is hand painted painted fully on front, sides and back. 1830s -1860. It is a fine looking and well painted example reflecting the 19th century Victorian romanticism about farm and rural life with the advancing age of industrialism. People who lived on farms at the time would have found the concept of a girl riding a goat after gathering a basket of fruit possibly a little odd or possibly amusing. Meissen produced a pair of figurines of a tailor and his wife riding goats in the 18thC - possibly this figure was inspired by that. It measures 7 1/2" in height and is 5 1/2" at the widest. It is in mostly excellent condition except for one detail - the tip of the girl's foot is chipped. Other than that, it is in exceptional shape - no cracks, crazing or repairs, and the paint in in excellent shape. There is a firing crack on the back of the girl's neck, but it is original to the manufacture of the piece, and does not detract.We haven't been able as yet to find which English Staffordshire maker produced this. An S Kirk and Sons sterling silver repousse nut serving bowl and matching spoon. The 6-1/2" diameter bowl and 5-1/4" long spoon both have the high-relief floral repousse work this quality American silver firm was known for. It is on on the bowl's rim and on the spoon handle and in the bowl, which also has a relief scene of fruit including pineapple, grape, apple and strawberry. The spoon's bowl measures 2" across. Both pieces have a fancy S monogram, and each is stamped S. KIRK & SON STERLING. The pattern number 409 is on the bottom of the bowl. A signed Christopher Dresser Linthorpe pottery plate circa 1880. This superb and rare Linthorpe high relief 8" English pottery plate features a naturalistic branch with leaves with a rustic white/yellow glaze on the front and no glazing on the back. It is stamped LINTHORPE Ch. Dresser HT on the back; Dresser was the designer for this factory c1879-89 and Henry Tooth was the manager prior to 1883, making the date of manufacture 1879-83. A Sevres style hand painted portrait plate from the 19thC signed Amblet. This late 19thC cabinet or display plate is 9-5/8" across and it features fine gilding, a scalloped edge with high relief gilt vines with a pink ground and a beautiful signed free hand painted central portrait of a pretty young woman picking flowers. The plate has the genuine three part Sevres marks, which include the Louis Philippe 1844 mark (this mark actually dates to the late 19th century), the Chateau de Tuileries wreath and the S. 37 in lozenge year date. The portrait is signed F. A set of 4 Chinese Qing dynasty tea bowls and saucers. These antique porcelain blue and white 1-5/8" tall tea bowls or cups and 4-5/8" wide saucers date from 1736-1795. It is possible they are slightly older. This antique Chinese porcelain set has a man on a horse holding a small twig, followed by a servant carrying provisions. The background shows a tree starting to flower. My interpretation is that he was looking for indications that winter is over, so the important work of spring can begin. The scenes are the same on the saucers and the outside of the cups, decorated borders, and interior flowers in the cups (possibly prunus/plum), but everything is hand painted, so no pieces are identical. These tea bowls were more likely produced for the Chinese rather than European taste. The porcelain is a fine quality. All pieces are unmarked, and they are in reasonably good condition, but with no losses, damage or repairs other than sone very fine edge chips on the cups and a fine partial hairline crack in one saucer. This is a genuine English sterling silver William IV teapot fully hallmarked for London, England 1837. This table serving piece measures 11-1/4" from spout to handle and it has a wonderful bolt-mounted floral finial. It has fine leaf and flower repousse decoration throughout and it stands on four fancy feet. It has the maker's mark for the respected English silversmith firm of Edward, Edward Jr., John and W. Barnard and it weighs an impressive 810 grams. A Royal Nippon hand painted white green & gold floral jardiniere plant pot from the 1880s. This beauty measures 8-5/8" across the handles and it stands 4-3/8" tall on its four feet. The decoration includes white flowers with a bit of orange blush on a few petals, pale green ground and a medium green band under the flowers. A very rare set of (probably) English 9-7/8" plates in a variant of the original Blue Willow pattern. We haven't been able to accurately identify this pattern with its distinctive border butterflies in our books, however they are definitely Georgian. The porcelain is the expected light gray and the decoration is slightly blurred and each plate has the expected frit and minor variations from the manufacture of these items. It is quite unusual to find a matched set of four of these plates and one has a partial gold seal from the British Antique Dealer Association (B.A.D.A.) which guaranteed that the plates were over 100 years old at the time of sale (many decades ago). A rare Clews Jasperware cream jug circa 1815-34. This pre-Victorian English 3-3/4" high milk jug is signed by Clews. Ralph and James Clews (Cobridge, Staffordshire) was in business only from 1815-34; pieces of Jasperware in imitation of Wedgwood were tricky to manufacture and as a result examples by Clews are quite scarce. This buff coloured example has applied bacchanalia scenes, with figures drinking wine and holding grapes. It has a grape-leaf border and a hand-formed spout. It has an incised CLEWS on the bottom, and it shows the typical firing cracks in the decoration typical of the era. A rare Bilston enamel cow patchbox with floral 1770-1790. This antique English Georgian period Bilston enamel patchbox or patch box features an enamelled lying cow on the top and a painted porcelain floral on the bottom circa. This 1-7/8" x 1-5/8" copper/brass mounted box was used to hold patches, the applied facial beauty marks popular at this time. It stands 1-1/4" high, and the hand painted cow has a well-painted face, with green, pink, white, yellow and black enamel. The hand painted floral design on the underside is well painted, and the interior has a mirror and white enamel on the top's inside. This item has the following condition issues, which are common to antique examples like this one: enamel losses to the cow's tail and rear flank, an enamel loss to the green grass, cracks and an old restoration to the porcelain floral panel, minor cracking to the surface of the interior white enamel, and cracking and silver losses to the mirror. An R.A. Kidston 20" London scene United Kingdom meat platter circa 1840. This is an early Scottish large blue transferware well and tree meat platter in blue transfer. This platter stands on two bracket feet and the juice well; it is stamped R.A.K. & Co. UNITED KINGDOM LONDON for R.A. Kidston and Co. Finnieston (part of Glasgow) Scotland who used this mark from 1838-1845. The Coysh & Henrywood Blue and White Printed Pottery reference book mentions this series, but not this actual scene of London - I have never run across this pattern piece before. A pair of mid-19thC ornate Meissen style covered urns. This amazing and massive pair of mid-19th century French porcelain 19" covered mantle urns were made by M.S. Claus, France. They are fully hand painted and in the Meissen style, and both are extravagantly festooned with hand-formed and applied flowers and leaves. Each is topped with a similarly decorated lid, topped with a figure of a child. The colours are bright and vivid and they have the crossed swords mark for Claus and a 1777 pattern number. Each has had some restoration - the child with the umbrella finial has a repaired and repainted base and the lid has a large firing crack (on the interior edge and not visible when on display). It also has some gold wear to the lid's rim, and the base has a large area of restoration and painting to the upper rim and a firing crack to the outer shoulder. The other urn's lid has a similar interior firing crack, and the base has a similar repair to its rim as well (which also has a crack on the repaired area). Each urn has some minor expected chipping and losses to the flowers, and this pair is in very good/reasonable condition with a good appearance, and they could be completely restored if desired. A pair of German 800 silver viande serving forks in the original box. This elegant and high quality pair of 800 silver German 8" viande or meat serving forks are in their original fitted box and they date to the 1900 1910 era. These forks are stamped 800 with the crown and eagle mark (Frankfurt, pre-1888), most likely produced by Bruckmann and Sohne (1805-1973). The forks are an interesting combiation of elegant Neoclassic revival design paired with the elements of Jugendstil - note the graceful and simple fork shape and crisp design to the ends of the handle. The 9" x 3-1/2" box is a tan coloured watered silk with a Greek key border and bronze coloured fittings with a patterned silk interior lid and cotton fitted platform with twisted cord trim. The forks weigh a substantial 83 grams, and they have traces of the original gilding. Lovely quality silver. These matching 11-3/8" decanters have some hand cutting on the shoulder ribs and they retain their original blown and cut stoppers. A scarce English Pratt ware Lord Nelson and Capt. Berry jug made between 1798-1806. We believe it was made to commemorate either the Battle of the Nile (a significant English military battle of 1798) or the battle of Trafalgar (1805), a most significant English military battle still commemorated today in England on Trafalgar Day. This 5-3/8" tall pitcher has stylized portraits of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and Captain Edward Berry with orange, brown, cobalt and green glazes on the high-relief modelling. Prattware is not often found in perfect condition, and this piece is not, either. This jug is un-restored except for a primitive and early reattachment of the bottom of the handle. There is some interior browning and staining, some overall crazing and some exterior browning on the spout. The bottom of the handle is missing and the bottom third has been crudely cemented in place. This jug is well worth having professionally restored, and it is a seldom seen English historic commemorative. It is in fair intact condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or damage other than stated above.

A Posen 800 silver coffee set for 12 in box circa 1905-10. This stunning, all original set is in its original fitted case; this set consists of twelve 3-3/4" coffee spoons with gilt bowls, sugar tongs, and the ornate silver sugar bowl with the original clear glass liner. The box is green paper wrapped with gold borders and gilt shell clasps; the interior is silk lined with the L. Posen Wwe. retail stamp. It has the designation in the stamp Hoflieferant, which translates as suppliers or purveyors to the Imperial Court, which was granted to this firm in 1903. The well-respected German silver firm Lazarus Posen Witwe (widow) was established in 1869, and was in operation until it was destroyed by the Nazis on Kristallnacht in 1938. Each piece is stamped with the Posen marks, and the bowl features an exquisitely detailed gryphon and wreath openwork design; the inrterior is gilded as well. The 4" diameter sugar bowl has a clear crystal liner with a polished pontil, and there is a sugar tongs as well as the 12 spoons. The box measures 13" x 9-1/2", and this stunning quality set is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs and it appears possibly unused. There is only a bit of tearing of the bottom paper, a bit of soiling to the silk on the inside of the lid and some darkening of the gold borders on the exterior.

A wonderful antique decorative pair of oval ornate Victorian period sterling silver bowls or baskets, fully hallmarked London, England 1895-96. These high style late Victorian dishes measure 6-3/4" x 5", and are just over 1" deep. This embossed pair of 19th century salt cellars are 2" in diameter and they feature floral embossing and scalloped rims; they are stamped with the lion/anchor/G Gorham mark, STERLING, 2235 (pattern number) with the Gorham 1889 year mark. The pair of 2-1/8" long sterling silver salt spoons also have the Gorham old hallmark with STERLING, and they are in the Colonial pattern by Gorham, which was introduced in 1885. A pair of so-called Whimsey glass vases c1900. Glass whimseys, or end-of-day glass, were made at the end of the day's glass production by glassmakers using leftover glass; these items were usually taken home and given as gifts. Many forms were produced, including glass canes, figurines and artistic objects. This pair is made of amber and citrene coloured glass with white highlights and ribbon decoration. They are unsigned and the amber vase has a hook so it can be hung on a wall; the other sits on a table. The hanging vase measures 6-7/8" from top to bottom and the yellowish table vase is 4-1/2" from the edge of the trumpet to the edge of the stem. A large pair of European 19thC porcelain figural centerpiece swan bowls. Made as dining room table decorations with an open center for flowers, fruit, etc., these large and beautifully detailed swans are possible German in origin (both are unmarked). They measure 12-1/2" long and they stand 10" high; they are finely detailed and are in a simple white glaze. They weigh approximately 4 pounds / a bit under 2 kilograms each. They are in very good original condition with no cracks, scrapes, damage or repairs other than a loss to the right foot of one and some bottom-only small craze lines and slight loss to the left foot on the other. A pair of English sterling silver matching gravy boats from 1906 by Martin Hall & Co. hallmarked for Sheffield England 1906 - 1907. This antique matched pair of 2 gravy or sauce servers measure 7" from the lip to the edge of the handle and they stand 3-3/4" tall to the handle's top; they have the maker's mark for Martin Hall & Co. Ltd. They weigh 343 grams and have a Celtic design G or G monogram. The feet are a simple trefoil shape. They have a liquid capacity of approximately eight to nine ounces in each gravy boat. They are in very good antique condition with no breaks, losses, damage or repairs other than some surface marks on one boat (which (see pictures) and ordinary signs of use. A pair of English Imari lustre jugs from the 1830s. This decorative unmarked pair of early to mid 19thC English jugs or pitchers is in the Imari colours with pink Sunderland luster. The largest is 8" tall and the smaller is 7"; both have embossed decoration and are hand painted. These jugs are in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs except for some minor glaze flakes and craze lines on the upper rim of the larger jug, some allover crazing on the smaller jug, a couple of straight-line craze lines on the smaller one that don't appear on the external side of the piece, and some very minor spots of wear to the decoration. A pair of ornate Edwardian sterling silver posie vases dated 1902-1903. These attractive 3-7/8" tall sterling silver vases are fully hallmarked for Birmingham, England (one 1902, the other 1903). A pair of early Staffordshire figurines of eagles on vermicular or marble painted bases from 1820-1850. These well modelled heavily gilded 19thC English earthenware eagles are 7-3/4" tall. Both have tilted heads and back-stretched wings. They have purple, yellow and orange marble-like painting on the simple rectangular shape bases. The mustard yellow rocky perches have a blue flower. They not signed with a manufacturer's stamp, unfortunately fairly common with Staffordshire figures. They are in very good, but not undamaged condition. One is undamaged with only a firing crack, which is original to the manufacture of the figurines (see image), and the other has had the lower portion of one wing and the head re-glued. Some wear to the gilding. The breaks and repair are quite clean and it could be restored professionally. The only pair of Staffordshire eagles I have owned in over 40 years selling antiques. The firing crack is very small with only small expected disturbances (including slight browning to the beak of one eagle) which don't detract from the appeal of these unusual figurines. A pair of unsigned Bohemian Arts & Crafts satin glass jewelled vases circa 1900. This wonderful pair stands 9-3/4" tall and they have applied moonstone-like glass jewels along the neck and base. The mounts are gold painted, as is the top edge and the edges of the steppes.
