An exceptional Victorian Tunbridge Ware trinket or dresser box circa 1850s. Tunbridgeware was made as souvenir ware in England and Scotland. It consists of tiny inlaid exotic wood tesserae in geometric designs. This 4-3/8 x 4-1/4" and 1-3/4" high example has a repeating floral pattern on the top, a Greek key design on the sides and a bird's eye maple ground. The lid appears to be rosewood and the box is quite heavy. It retains the original colours which include green, yellow, red and gold and the workmanship is superb. It is in remarkable intact condition with no fading, chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a bit of warping to the lid. The hinges are intact and our pictures don't even come close to showing the fine detail of this folk art box. A Staffordshire farm girl pottery figure circa 1860. This vintage English pottery figure is of a farm girl holding a sheaf of wheat. An antique Fukagawa Nishikide Wara Japanese Imari colour palette biscuit barrel with silver plated mounts c1880s-1910. This jar stands 6-1/4" high (sans handle) and it features a fan, irises, carp and other decoration with gold highlights. It has the mountain Fukagawa mark in blue with NISHIKIDE WARA MADE IN JAPAN on the bottom, and the mounts are stamped EPNS J.B&S (Jonathan Bell & Sons Sheffield) EP on the underside of the lid, which has a wing nut holding the finial. A Galloway or Mirror Plate or Virginia EAPG vinegar Cruet. This 8-1/2" tall (including stopper) early American pattern or pressed glass vinegar cruet was made by US Glass and Jefferson Glass Co. (Toronto) from c1900-25. This item is in excellent original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a tiny 1/16" flake to one rib near the neck (barely noticeable) and the loss of most of the original gold wash to the handle and upper rim. A Georgian English hand painted Imari dessert dish or platter circa 1800 1820. This 11-1/4" x 7-1/4" unmarked bowl features gold, orange, cobalt, teal, green and purple painted floral designs. Although it lacks an indent, it is possible that this is the platter that went beneath a tureen. It is 1-3/4" deep at the deepest point, so we are also calling it a s dish or shallow bowl. We have so far been unable to identify the manufacturer or pattern, but it is entirely consistent with English late 18th to early 19th century manufacture. A Georgian sterling silver large footed master salt dish dated 1817. This simply splendid high quality English Georgian silver open salt dish is fully hallmarked for London 1817. This 3-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" high bowl has fine high relief and rather unusual rim decoration of a lion head alternating with a shell, surrounded by flowers, with ornate floral feet. It retains the original gilding on the bowl as well. It is stamped with the maker's mark for William Elliot or William Eaton of London. It weighs an impressive 162.6 grams. It has a small lion rampant family crest engraving on one shoulder (not shown). One of the largest and most unusual Georgian silver open salts we have seen. In the unadorned black basalt matte finish, this classic antique bowl is stamped WEDGWOOD 6 with an incised broken circular mark near the edge. A Gorham silver plated open chafing dish on stand from the 1900 era. This top quality late Victorian era warming dish measures 9-5/8" across and it sits on the ornately designed heavy quality footed stand, which has a large fuel well with a turned handle. It has two mechanical burners - the long thumbwheels open the lids and raise and lower the wicks in the same motion, snuffing the flames. The burners are mounted in a fitted top which sits on the fuel well; they are stamped PAT'D AUG 29.1899. The stand is marked with the GMCo EP anchor mark for Gorham and it has a pattern number 0560, which also appears on the dish. This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight crack on the natural material of the handle. A gray transfer covered sauce dish. This early unsigned English covered footed sauce dish dates to circa 1830-50. It has classical scenes and an oak leaf border as well as sculpted handles and feet, all with gray or grey transfer decoration. It is marked only with an impressed P underneath. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some fine overall crazing, three tiny glaze flakes on the lid's rim (two at the opening for the ladle) and a pinpoint burst glaze bubble or small chip on the lid rim (see pic). A hand painted Limoges large roses centerpiece or fruit bowl dated 1903. This wonderfully handpainted 10-3/8" across bowl stands 4" high and 8-1/2" deep, it has a handle on one side, and the painting is of very high quality for a painted blank. Typical in this era, china painting was very popular and some very talented pieces were produced by home amateurs. This example has lovely red roses and green foliage, a pink interior ground with a pair of roses, and gold trim (which required a refiring to set after the firing on of the painting). It is stamped with HAVILAND FRANCE (the maker of the blank) and 2. (the item or mold number). A group of four hand painted German porcelain cups and saucers by Helena Wolfsohn c1870s-80s. Each has fine floral decoration with garlands and gold trim and highlights, both inside and out. Each has a blue ground and all have the blue Wolfsohn backstamp (crowned D over Hand painted Dresden Saxony). One has "Handgemalt" instead of handpainted, and all have the gold rose overstamp. A Howard Sterling Co. 4 piece brush and mirror set from the 1890s. This high relief, decorative personal grooming set consists of the 10 x 5" hand mirror with beveled glass, the 9-1/4 x 3" hair brush, the 5-5/8 x 1-3/4" small clothes or shoulder brush and the 7 x 2-1/2" large clothes brush. This vanity or dresser set matches, it has the Howard marks, STERLING, 925/1000 and a patent date of 1892 (PAT. '92.). Not all pieces have all of the marks but they certainly match and each piece has a fancy script AGA (or AJA) monogram. An Ironstone tea or tobacco leaf teapot and 8 petit four plates 1860s. A matching English ironstone 8-3/8" tall teapot and eight 4-5/8" petit four plates, all with a tea or tobacco leaf variant in gold with gold trim. The teapot has some relief design on the feet and near the top, and the petit four plates have twelve sides. A Lanternier Limoges hand painted floral vase from around 1900. This subtle and beautiful Limoges French porcelain hand painted vase c1890-1900 vase stands 9-1/4" high and it has a finely painted floral arrangement in subtle pastel shades with gold highlights - the leafy sprigs with purple flowers have subtle green lines and the complex yellow and richly gilded large flowers and leaves have great detail and piped and jewelled thick gold outlines. There are also sprays of gold on the cloudlike satin finish of this decorative piece. It was made by the Lanternier & Co firm, and it is a factory painted piece. A large and elegant European silver goblet of modern design by Wilhelm Binder of Schwabisch Gmund (Germany), established in 1869. This goblet apparently dates c1900-10. It measures 8-3/4" (24cm) in height, and measures 4-1/4" (just under 11 cm) across the rim. It weighs approximately 227 grams. It is stamped with the German post-1886 crescent moon and crown mark, 835 WTB and has a company number of 73123 and a small punch mark we could not make out. This is a classic 8-3/4" x 8-1/2" (top measurement) two-handled heavy brass Chinese censer dating to the late 17th-early 18th century. This censer weighs approximately four kilograms and it has the ornate two character Xuande mark on the bottom, and an interior six character Xuande mark. It is of superb style and quality, and it is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the polishing off of most of the original patina, traces of which remains around the three feet and under the handles. A late 18thC Qing Dynasty Canton enamel bowl. This high quality bowl has original gilding and it dates to circa 1770 - 1800. This lobed quatrefoil shaped bowl measures 7-3/4" x 6-1/4" and it is 3-1/8" in height. The enamelling is particularly fine, done to the Chinese taste. The rim of the bowl retains much of its original gilding. The interior is a pale blue enamel, the bottom is speckled white. The upper rim has a Greek key design border. While it doesn't appear to have been much used other than decoratively, this bowl was likely made to be a jardiniere, and may have been used as that previously. It is in excellent condition for its age, with no corrosion, apparent losses, damage or repairs other than a slight touch of wear to the gilding on the edges and some minor discolouration spots to the interior enamel. Made by many firms over many years, this collection was made by Haviland & Co. Limoges, France. It is probable that Haviland purchased the blanks from an English firm for decoration and sale to the English market. All serving pieces have maritime or rope twist handles. Majolica grape and vine pitcher with a pewter lid with a leaf motif, most likely for serving wine outdoors circa 1880s. It is 8-1/2" tall and hand painted in brown, blue and green colors. It is unmarked except for what looks like a 70 painted onto the bottom. Majolica is an antique form of pottery, with a great revival of interest in the 19thC. A Martin Hall Victorian English silver plated meat dome. This 12-1/4" x 9-3/8" meat dome or cover was made by Martin, Hall & Co. of Sheffield, England (1854-1934). This table serving piece features a bolted and pegged finial with a wing nut and it stands 8-3/4" high. It is stamped 1127 EPNS with the maker's mark, and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than one small penpoint protruberant dent and a nearby shallow penpoint dent. The plating is completely intact and this dome is in superb condition.
