A gray transfer covered sauce dish. This early unsigned English covered footed sauce dish dates to circa 1830-50. It has classical scenes and an oak leaf border as well as sculpted handles and feet, all with gray or grey transfer decoration. It is marked only with an impressed P underneath. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some fine overall crazing, three tiny glaze flakes on the lid's rim (two at the opening for the ladle) and a pinpoint burst glaze bubble or small chip on the lid rim (see pic). An E.J.D. Bodley Bamboo pattern trivet dated 1879. This 6-3/4" hexagonal shaped English bone china trivet was produced by E J D Bodley of Burslem, England. This plate has high relief bamboo decoration with a green border and thickly applied gold highlights; it has the English registry mark for a manufacture date of 1879 (this Bodley mark was used from 1875-92). It is stamped BODLEY B E.J.D.B Y3570 on the back, and this dinnerware item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. A rare, early English flow blue three piece soup tureen c1850-60. This tureen stands 11" high with the lid, and the matching, fitted underplate measures 14-3/4" x 13". It has a floral style motif, and it has an impressed S as well as a pseudo Chinese mark, minor variants of which were used by Charles Meigh (1835-49), Charles Meigh & Son (1851-61) and also Job Meigh (c1805-34), all of Hanley, Staffordshire; we feel it dates from c1850-60 but it could possibly be of earlier manufacture. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight 1-3/4" craze-like hairline near the lid's finial, some overall crazing, a few scattered craze lines to the bowl. A Royal Worcester 6-1/4" face or mask jug with gold made in 1897. This exquisitely detailed jug has superb hand applied gold decoration in the form of wild daisies with yellow and reddish centers along with wild grasses. The gold is thickly applied with ridges and jewelling and the ornate handle is gold as well. The mask or face on the spout is crisp and detailed and this jug has the Grainger Royal Worcester China Works mark with the G year code for 1897. The creamy satin finish glaze is quite attractive and this jug or pitcher has a 328 pattern or shape number. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. A Minton wild strawberries A2625 hand painted berry or fruit bowl dated 1866. This Victorian beauty measures 9-3/8" across and it features finely handpainted leaves, flowers and wild strawberries all in high relief. This bowl is similar to other antique Minton patterns however we haven't definitively identified it. It has the impressed MINTON mark (used from 1862-71, later MINTONS) and a date cypher resembling that used for 1866. This bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than some wear and loss to the paint on the high points of the design. This is minor and most apparent on one strawberry, a few leaves and the roots of the plants. A Davenport 2614 Old Imari 2451 style pattern cup and saucer from 1870-1887. This wonderful fully hand painted English bone china 2-5/8" tall cup and matching 5-5/8" saucer has lush gold, cobalt and orange decoration. The pattern was later copied by Royal Crown Derby as "Old Imari" or "Traditional Imari" (in production from 1902-2014). This scarce cup and saucer has the Davenport mark used from 1870-87 and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than a tiny 1/16" surface glaze flaw or glaze crack. The cup rings true and on the top and interior edge the flaw isn't visible through the original gilding, which was applied over the flaw at the factory. An English polychrome blue & white transfer milk jug circa 1850. This 19th century decorative 5-3/4" tall jug measures 6-1/2" from spout to handle, and it has a Chinese scene design. The colours are green, teal, orange and yellow and the design is continued on the inside upper rim and spout. It has only an incised mark and a green semicircle with dot mark, and this jug is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor surface scratches to the paint at shoulder level. A pair of 19thC Gaudy Welsh canns or mugs 1820 1850. This matching pair of early to mid 19th century 2-3/4" tall Gaudy Welsh chinoiserie ceramic canns or small mugs feature copper luster and hand painted designs over pink transfer in blue, green, yellow and brown. Although known as Gaudy Welsh, only a small percentage of these attractive pieces were produced in Wales - most were produced in Staffordshire. A signed Christopher Dresser Linthorpe pottery plate circa 1880. This superb and rare Linthorpe high relief 8" English pottery plate features a naturalistic branch with leaves with a rustic white/yellow glaze on the front and no glazing on the back. It is stamped LINTHORPE Ch. Dresser HT on the back; Dresser was the designer for this factory c1879-89 and Henry Tooth was the manager prior to 1883, making the date of manufacture 1879-83. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs, with only the slightest touches of wear to the glaze on the highest points (barely noticeable). A TJ&J Mayer superb glazed moulded stoneware jug from the 18303s - 1850s. This wonderfully detailed and high quality glazed English high relief stoneware pitcher is 9-1/2" in height. It has a chocolate brown stippled ground on which is laid very thick allegorical scenes with palm trees in greyish coloured clay. It is known as the Paul and Virginia design. The hand-carved detail is stunning and even the handle is decorated with fronds and a stalk. The lip has two holes for the fitting of a pewter lid which was an option with these jugs - this example was never fitted. It has the stamped T.J.&J. MAYERS PATENT mark with DALE HALL POTTERY LONGPORT under the Royal Arms mark which was in use from c1843-55. It also has a No 102 18 pattern mark and the registry number for 1850. This item is in superb original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some faint crazing on the glazed interior only. A great example of this Victorian decorative style. A pair of early Staffordshire figurines of eagles on vermicular or marble painted bases from 1820-1850. These well modelled heavily gilded 19thC English earthenware eagles are 7-3/4" tall. Both have tilted heads and back-stretched wings. They have purple, yellow and orange marble-like painting on the simple rectangular shape bases. The mustard yellow rocky perches have a blue flower. They not signed with a manufacturer's stamp, unfortunately fairly common with Staffordshire figures. They are in very good, but not undamaged condition. One is undamaged with only a firing crack, which is original to the manufacture of the figurines (see image), and the other has had the lower portion of one wing and the head re-glued. Some wear to the gilding. The breaks and repair are quite clean and it could be restored professionally. The only pair of Staffordshire eagles I have owned in over 40 years selling antiques. The firing crack is very small with only small expected disturbances (including slight browning to the beak of one eagle) which don't detract from the appeal of these unusual figurines. An early 19thC blue saltglaze pitcher. This high relief early to mid-19th century 6-1/8" tall salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug has an allegorical scene with grapes and vines; it is unsigned and it has a nice medium blue colour. This item is in very good condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a firing crack around the bottom of the handle (original to the firing), a chip on the upper rim (with glaze infill, possibly later) and a barely visible shallow underglaze star crack on the bottom which doesn't interrupt the glaze or go through to the interior.
