A pair of Lucknow solid silver sweetmeat or bonbon bowls from the Indian Raj period circa 1880 1890. These superbly detailed antique high grade silver 4-7/8" x 4" bowls have a graceful fluted rim. They feature gilt interiors and fine hammered wildlife scenes around the exterior depicting panthers, elephants, birds, dogs, rabbits and others, all with a backdrop of palm trees and tropical foliage. The design is a classic Lucknow silver design of this period, and interior gilding was seen more commonly then also. They have a large hand-tooled peacock figure on the bottom of each bowl, (which is most likely the silversmith's mark), and they test as very high grade silver.
