A 9k gold double scarab beetle brooch circa 1870-90. This scarce mid-Victorian 9k yellow gold bar pin has two claw-set real green scarab beetles. Anything Egyptian was all the rage at this time, and this 2-1/4" x 5/8" brooch is typical. The beetles are real, they are a chrysomelid, also known as a tortoise beetle. This pin has the original 19thC safety pin-style catch, it is stamped 9Ct and it weighs 3.7 grams; it has a loop for a safety chain and it is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than some minor losses to the head of one beetle. An Joseph Wagner (1706-1780) framed Alpine goats 18thC engraving in a Victorian frame. This fine and decorative picture is in a Victorian Aesthetic 13-1/2 x 11-1/4" wood frame with the original panel back and it is mounted on a mat. The sight size is 9-5/8 x 7-1/4" and notations include No.6., 4, J.G. WAGNER DELIN. C.A. GROSMANN EXCUD:AUG:VINDE: and J.M. FREY FECIT. A German, he located in Venice where he carried on a considerable business as a print seller. This engraving is untrimmed and it is in very good condition with no foxing, rips, tears, holes, damage or repairs however the mat is browned and the frame has some minor scuffs and light corner wear. An early English 7-3/4" high large footed comport or tazza made by Wedgwood in 1878-9. This elegant Neoclassic design table serving piece measures 12-3/4" across the two handles and features fine hand painted gilding, a black transfer design (on top and underneath the plate) and relief molding to the handles, edge and foot. It is in the Corinth pattern, which is marked in underglaze black transfer lettering, and it is impressed WEDGWOOD PEARL with GH over P, 1813 pattern number and a triangle mark. A stunning Nippon 3 pc. hand painted tea set 1880-90. This set consists of the 6-1/4" tall teapot, the 5" high two-handled covered sugar bowl and the 4-1/2" high creamer. The painting is exquisite as you would expect of high quality Nippon, with colourful flowers and copious gold highlights with beading. The ground is a mottled agate and the whole body of the set is covered with decoration. An Art Deco 14k white gold amethyst ring from about 1920. This size 5 oval solitaire ring measures 5/8" x 1/2" across the top and it weighs 4.2 grams. It is stamped 14 K with an arrow maker's mark. The amethyst is a genuine natural stone, is approximately 4 carats in size (estimated in setting by gauge). The elegant scroll and engraving owes as much to the ornate style of the Edwardian period. An ornate 11-1/4" boxed pair of matching sterling silver salad servers, made by Wm. Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, England in 1906. These servers are of heavy construction, and the shanks of the bowls are heavily tooled with an attractive design. The 14-3/4 x 5-1/4" black paper-wrapped box has gold trim, with a fitted satin and velvet interior. The serving pieces weigh a total of 266 grams (including handles) and this set is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a full-length crack on each handle and some separation and splitting on the silver-handle junction on the salad fork. A sterling silver cherubs brush mirror & comb set 1890 to 1900. This wonderfully ornate Victorian period set consists of the 10" x 3-7/8" mirror, the 9-3/8" x 2-1/2" brush with natural bristles, and the 7-5/8" long comb. Each is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and they have the Thomas Hayes maker's mark; the brush year hallmark is 1890, the comb year hallmark is 1898 and the mirror year hallmark is 1900. It is quite normal for these sets to have slightly differing dates on the various pieces from the same firm, as they were assembled into sets for sale from existing stock, and sometimes pieces were purchased over time. All three have a script BETH monogram, and they are in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor edge denting to the brush, and the replacement of the comb with a recent plastic one and a soldered repair to the mirror at the handle/mirror join. The original bevelled mirror is in fairly good shape also, which is not always the case. A Fumio Tamura 1969 Nokemono framed litho print 2/7. This evocative semi-erotic colour lithograph print entitled "Nokemono" (translated from Japanese - outcast) was produced in 1969 by Fumio Tamura (Japan, 1941-). Fumio Tamura was born in the Nagano prefecture, and he graduated from Tokyo Art College in 1968, so this 1969 litho dates from early in his career. It is in a metal frame, and it measures 24-1/2" x 21", with an image size of 18" x 14-1/2". It is a very small edition issue, inscribed in pencil 2/7, with the title in Japanese and in English NOKEMONO and it has the artist's signature F. Tamura '69. It retains the original Toronto gallery sticker on the back, and this print is is in excellent condition with no foxing, tears, staining, fading, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A pair of Lucknow solid silver sweetmeat or bonbon bowls from the Indian Raj period circa 1880 1890. These superbly detailed antique high grade silver 4-7/8" x 4" bowls have a graceful fluted rim. They feature gilt interiors and fine hammered wildlife scenes around the exterior depicting panthers, elephants, birds, dogs, rabbits and others, all with a backdrop of palm trees and tropical foliage. The design is a classic Lucknow silver design of this period, and interior gilding was seen more commonly then also. They have a large hand-tooled peacock figure on the bottom of each bowl, (which is most likely the silversmith's mark), and they test as very high grade silver. These bowls weigh 174 grams in total, and they are in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a tiny notch on the upper edge of one bowl from the testing of the silver content.
