A superbly rendered and vividly coloured lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Kasui (1883-1957), entitled "Meguro-Fudo-Do" (Fudo Temple in Meguro). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This item has strong colours and the print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. There is some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain), and some minor yellowing to the paper from age, not affecting the image. A 14k yellow gold large natural large oval opal ring circa 1970s. This vintage size 6 ring was custom made, and the colorful genuine opal gem stone section measures 1/2" x 5/8" . The carat weight calculator indicates the stone is approximately 2.4 carats as measured in setting. The flash has green and blue highlights with a nice internal red fire. The mark was too worn to read, and the ring tests as 14 K. It weighs 3.7 grams. An 18k sapphires and diamonds double row ring circa 1980. This vintage custom made yellow gold wedding band is a size 6-3/4 or 6.75 and set with either genuine blue sapphires or genuine blue spinels and diamonds. It features 12 fairly well-matched channel set royal blue gem stones in groups of four separated by two pairs of single point genuine diamonds. There is a slight variation of shades of blue in the stones, and they are fairly clear gems. The sapphires/spinels are princess cut or square cut, and are bezel set, so their size is 5-6 points each, estimated by gauge in setting. It weighs 3.1 gr. and the flat band design feels comfortable on and sits so could be worn with a solitaire ring. It measures 5/8" across the gem section and is 3/16" wide. It is stamped 750 (for 18 K ). The gem stones may be just a shade deeper blue than our photos, due to photo flash. It would make a unique wedding band for those who would like more than diamonds. An Edwardian 14k yellow gold sunburst diamond and seed pearls ring circa 1900 1910. This unusual antique ring of genuine seed pearls and a genuine diamond is in the sunburst or starburst shape popular with lavalieres at the time, it was more likely a representation of a daisy or some other flower. The sunburst has 10 petals with genuine seed pearls and it has a central claw-set 8 point (measured by flat stone gauge) genuine antique European cut diamond; the shank is stamped 14K with a JIC maker's mark. I have never seen this ring before in 38 years in antiques. It is possible that this piece was produced at a slightly later date, but the ring shank is an appropriate one for the period, and the setting is properly mounted and appears original. This ring weighs 6.3 grams, and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses or damage other than some glue residue on a couple of reset pearls (an old repair, and is restorable). The pearls have some colour variation, which is not unusual. An antique sterling silver treasure chest design trinket box, fully hallmarked for London, England 1904. This English Arts and Crafts period 3-3/4" x 1-1/2" hinged box was made by Corke Bros. & Co. It has hand hammered panels with fleur-de-lis decoration and long hinges, and it resembles a treasure or pirate chest. It has a chained pin which inserts into a loop with hasp and a tooled and mounted escutcheon on the top. The interior is gilded, and this lovely small jewel or table tobacco snuff box weighs 80.4 grams. This miniature sterling chest has no tobacco odour, but is the correct size for a table snuff box, and such boxes were usually gilded inside to prevent corrosion. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the replacement of the hasp, which had broken off and has been resoldered/replaced. This Victorian gentleman's size 8-1/2 or size 8.5 ring features a 5/8" x 1/2" upper section fashioned from an actual Victorian hinged photo locket which has been soldered shut and engraved with an ornate Gothic GWS monogram. It has Birmingham, England hallmarks for 1864 (no Queen's head). This ring bears an inscription on the interior under the top section of WITH FONDEST LOVE LIZZIE. It weighs 6.7 grams. An Unger Bros. 4 piece sterling silver brush, mirror and box dresser set from the 1890s. This fancy repousse sets consists of the 9-3/8 x 5" hand mirror with beveled glass, the 9 x 2-3/4" natural bristle hair brush, the 2" across round lidded pomade, salve or rouge pot or box with a gilded interior and an associated (not Unger) 3-5/8 x 1-1/8" natural bristle clothes or dress brush. Three pieces feature the Unger Brothers mark and STERLING 925 FINE and the small brush is marked STERLING 925/1000 8164. This set is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs; the large and small brushes have a minor bit of edge denting and the mirror has some moderate edge denting. Also the large brush and mirror have some minor dents to the cartouches which have never been engraved or monogrammed. A scarce antique period sterling silver filigree posey holder or tussie mussie c1900. Late Victorian or early Edwardian period posey holders, popularly known as tussie mussies in the UK, were used to hold floral bridal bouquets. An antique 14k opals and diamonds and synthetic ruby ring circa 1900. This classic late Victorian period yellow gold ring is set with two natural round cabochon opals with four antique cut genuine diamonds on each side of a central lab created ruby. This size 7 ring has natural opals with fine green and blue fire and a fiery orange internal color. The genuine diamonds are approximately 2 - 2.5 points each and the central synthetic ruby is 4 mm. across. These rings were often engagement or wedding rings for those who could afford them, diamond-only engagement rings didn't become popular until the 20th century. Synthetic rubies of this period were what we refer to as lab created gems now, they are treated genuine lesser price actual gem stones. The lab treatment gives them the appearance of genuine high price gem stones. White sapphires were and occasionally still are a stone of choice, they wear well also, as sapphires are a 9 on the Mohs stone hardness scale. A pair of Gorham 1190 sterling silver convertible 11-1/4" candlesticks with 3 pieces. These weighted candlesticks include the weighted 4-3/4" bases which act as short candlesticks, the 2-7/8" candle holder bell which can mount to the bases or on top of the 4-1/8" conical taper which can also screw into the base. When all pieces are mounted these fine table decorations are 11-1/4" tall. They have the Gorham marks on the bottom and they are probably from the 1950s or 1970s. A Victorian Aesthetic butterflies gilt basket with a cranberry glass bowl liner dated 1869. This antique serving piece is truly superb, from the immaculately detailed gilded butterfly basket with a swing handle to the original cranberry glass bowl with a polished base. The three feet have fine hand engraving and most unusually each of the seven butterflies has the old English diamond registry mark incorporated into the design, not added or stamped on later. Although unsigned this is a work of superb craftsmanship and the registry number dates the design to 1869. It measures 4-1/2" across and it stands 5-3/4" tall with the handle upright. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, losses, damage or repairs other than a few small areas of darkening to the gilding and a couple of very tiny edge nicks to the liner.
