A Royal Nippon hand painted white green & gold floral jardiniere plant pot from the 1880s. This beauty measures 8-5/8" across the handles and it stands 4-3/8" tall on its four feet. The decoration includes white flowers with a bit of orange blush on a few petals, pale green ground and a medium green band under the flowers. It is lushly decorated with applied gold and it has lots of beading. The bowl itself if lobed and the handles are forked at the top. It is typically unmarked and dates to around 1880 (items had to be marked for country of origin after 1891). It appears to never have been used for plants and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than some minor gold rubbing to the handles and the top edge. A 19th century Staffordshire flat back china cottage 1850-60s. It is the flat back type, and measures 4 1/4" high and 3 7/16" across. The colouration is simple - yellow ochre and rust-brown. It is overall in excellent condition for its age except for a small chip on the chimney and wear to the painted decoration. The bocage around the roof eaves is in excellent shape (very minor loss, not noticeable) and no cracks, crazing, staining or repairs. Cottages are hard to find, and this is a nice example. A finely detailed 11-3/4" tall silverplated epergne stand or base c1880s. This stand features a semi-nude woman stganding on a footed base holding the dish aloft; it is stamped MONARCH SILVER CO. 592 on the bottom. The bottom of the bowl support has a satin finish, and it measures 3-5/8" across the interior, with a 9/16" deep collar for supporting the bowl. This item is in very good condition with no corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor losses to the original plating, a break where her foot was soldered to the base (see picture) and some denting under her other foot. A 19th century Chinese 2-1/8" diameter carved jade belt buckle. Nicely carved, the jade is a pleasant pale light green with white mottling. A gray transfer covered sauce dish. This early unsigned English covered footed sauce dish dates to circa 1830-50. It has classical scenes and an oak leaf border as well as sculpted handles and feet, all with gray or grey transfer decoration. It is marked only with an impressed P underneath. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some fine overall crazing, three tiny glaze flakes on the lid's rim (two at the opening for the ladle) and a pinpoint burst glaze bubble or small chip on the lid rim (see pic). An ornate Victorian or early Art Nouveau period silver plated belt circa 1895 - 1900. This antique hand engraved 25-3/4" long belt consists of a two-part 2-3/4" wide ornate buckle with tongue and loop clasp, which is attached to fancy 1-1/4" across hand engraved panels linked with wire loops with small spacers. It is stamped EPNS with an FFE maker's mark in a shield and it can be shortened by the removal of some of the spacers. A sterling silver cherubs brush mirror & comb set 1890 to 1900. This wonderfully ornate Victorian period set consists of the 10" x 3-7/8" mirror, the 9-3/8" x 2-1/2" brush with natural bristles, and the 7-5/8" long comb. Each is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and they have the Thomas Hayes maker's mark; the brush year hallmark is 1890, the comb year hallmark is 1898 and the mirror year hallmark is 1900. It is quite normal for these sets to have slightly differing dates on the various pieces from the same firm, as they were assembled into sets for sale from existing stock, and sometimes pieces were purchased over time. All three have a script BETH monogram, and they are in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor edge denting to the brush, and the replacement of the comb with a recent plastic one and a soldered repair to the mirror at the handle/mirror join. The original bevelled mirror is in fairly good shape also, which is not always the case. A pair of early Staffordshire figurines of eagles on vermicular or marble painted bases from 1820-1850. These well modelled heavily gilded 19thC English earthenware eagles are 7-3/4" tall. Both have tilted heads and back-stretched wings. They have purple, yellow and orange marble-like painting on the simple rectangular shape bases. The mustard yellow rocky perches have a blue flower. They not signed with a manufacturer's stamp, unfortunately fairly common with Staffordshire figures. They are in very good, but not undamaged condition. One is undamaged with only a firing crack, which is original to the manufacture of the figurines (see image), and the other has had the lower portion of one wing and the head re-glued. Some wear to the gilding. The breaks and repair are quite clean and it could be restored professionally. The only pair of Staffordshire eagles I have owned in over 40 years selling antiques. The firing crack is very small with only small expected disturbances (including slight browning to the beak of one eagle) which don't detract from the appeal of these unusual figurines. A 19th century Japanese Kutani bottle vase. This well painted hand decorated 6-1/8" vase features gold decoration, floral and figural panels and decoration in black and orange. A Canton enamel squash blossom jewel or trinket box from the 1880s 1890s. This lovely and large Chinese enamel on metal box measures 4-1/2 x 3-1/2" and it stands 2-3/4" high on its foot rim. It is nicely worked with a fine life-like appearance and the hand applied enamel is in yellow, green and blue. The interior is light blue as is the underside. It is (obscurely) marked CHINA on the bottom and it is in excellent condition with no chips, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs however it does have some small black firing marks and pits along with a couple of small surface losses to the enamel. A pair of Gorham sterling salt dishes with spoons dated 1889. This embossed pair of 19th century salt cellars are 2" in diameter and they feature floral embossing and scalloped rims; they are stamped with the lion/anchor/G Gorham mark, STERLING, 2235 (pattern number) with the Gorham 1889 year mark. The pair of 2-1/8" long sterling silver salt spoons also have the Gorham old hallmark with STERLING, and they are in the Colonial pattern by Gorham, which was introduced in 1885. A wonderful antique decorative pair of oval ornate Victorian period sterling silver bowls or baskets, fully hallmarked London, England 1895-96. These high style late Victorian dishes measure 6-3/4" x 5", and are just over 1" deep. They have high relief repousse Gothic designs and pierce-work panels, and they have a W.R.C. maker's mark for William Richard Corke. There is also a British registry number stamped in the rim of both bowls - it looks like RD. 248864. They are heavier than the usual pierce-work English sterling dishes you normally find from this period - one basket weighs 81 grams, and the other 83 grams - and are a lovely quality pair of dishes. Other than a few minor rim bends, they are overall in excellent vintage condition, with no dents, monograms, corrosion, repairs or damage. It is an open edge, so this is restorable. A pair of mid-19thC ornate Meissen style covered urns. This amazing and massive pair of mid-19th century French porcelain 19" covered mantle urns were made by M.S. Claus, France. They are fully hand painted and in the Meissen style, and both are extravagantly festooned with hand-formed and applied flowers and leaves. Each is topped with a similarly decorated lid, topped with a figure of a child. The colours are bright and vivid and they have the crossed swords mark for Claus and a 1777 pattern number. Each has had some restoration - the child with the umbrella finial has a repaired and repainted base and the lid has a large firing crack (on the interior edge and not visible when on display). It also has some gold wear to the lid's rim, and the base has a large area of restoration and painting to the upper rim and a firing crack to the outer shoulder. The other urn's lid has a similar interior firing crack, and the base has a similar repair to its rim as well (which also has a crack on the repaired area). Each urn has some minor expected chipping and losses to the flowers, and this pair is in very good/reasonable condition with a good appearance, and they could be completely restored if desired. A Victorian silver plate rolltop butter dish or server in the Aesthetic style from the 1880s. This antique beauty was made by Meriden and it has all of the hallmarks of quality and Victorian style and mechanical complexity. It has a pedestal base, a handle with floral decoration, high relief borders and a roll top with a pressed floral design. The rolling lid rests on two pins secured with a chained pinion and there are mounts on each side for a pair of butter knives. This steampunk item remains in reasonable condition with a few issues - one knife rest is missing (3 are intact), one side of one mounting bracket for the retaining pins is broken off, there is some pitting on the interior where a (now missing) ice liner would have been and there is a bit of plating loss on a few areas. The rolltop is functional and this would make a great decor item or table centerpiece (and a great "what is it?" for your next dinner party). An early 19thC blue saltglaze pitcher. This high relief early to mid-19th century 6-1/8" tall salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug has an allegorical scene with grapes and vines; it is unsigned and it has a nice medium blue colour. A Minton wild strawberries A2625 hand painted berry or fruit bowl dated 1866. This Victorian beauty measures 9-3/8" across and it features finely handpainted leaves, flowers and wild strawberries all in high relief. This bowl is similar to other antique Minton patterns however we haven't definitively identified it. It has the impressed MINTON mark (used from 1862-71, later MINTONS) and a date cypher resembling that used for 1866. This bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than some wear and loss to the paint on the high points of the design. This is minor and most apparent on one strawberry, a few leaves and the roots of the plants. An E.J.D. Bodley Bamboo pattern trivet dated 1879. This 6-3/4" hexagonal shaped English bone china trivet was produced by E J D Bodley of Burslem, England. This plate has high relief bamboo decoration with a green border and thickly applied gold highlights; it has the English registry mark for a manufacture date of 1879 (this Bodley mark was used from 1875-92). A signed Christopher Dresser Linthorpe pottery plate circa 1880. This superb and rare Linthorpe high relief 8" English pottery plate features a naturalistic branch with leaves with a rustic white/yellow glaze on the front and no glazing on the back. It is stamped LINTHORPE Ch. Dresser HT on the back; Dresser was the designer for this factory c1879-89 and Henry Tooth was the manager prior to 1883, making the date of manufacture 1879-83. A large pair of European 19thC porcelain figural centerpiece swan bowls. Made as dining room table decorations with an open center for flowers, fruit, etc., these large and beautifully detailed swans are possible German in origin (both are unmarked). They measure 12-1/2" long and they stand 10" high; they are finely detailed and are in a simple white glaze. They weigh approximately 4 pounds / a bit under 2 kilograms each. An attractive Ridgways Chiswick pattern sauce tureen in the flow blue colour circa 1900. This 8-1/4" long and 5" high lidded two-piece English ironstone serving dish features dark blue flow decoration, it has the registry number 235284 (for 1894), and it is in very good original condition with no chips, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight and fully intact crack to the underside rim of the lid (see images). Both have floral hand painted designs; they have both copper and pink lustre with green leaves and flow blue decoration. They both have a painted 316 pattern number and the plate has an impressed PEARL WHITE mark. A decorated 19thC copper lustre child's cann or mug. This vintage mid-19th century 2-1/2" high decorated copper luster mug features a relief beaded rim, lovely metallic copper luster, a blue band with leaf decoration and a white interior with a pink lustre interior rim. It is unmarked and it has a pink lustre brush wipe on the interior, and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than an overglazed flat spot on the bottom rim and some craze lines on the interior bottom only. the luster is a consistent deep rich copper colour from top to bottom, unlike in our photos which show reflection from the towel. An attractive 19thC American (or Canadian) pattern or pressed glass stoppered decanter with what appears to be an double leaf motif (one over the other) not dissimilar to a maple leaf. This 9-1/2" tall (with stopper) blown-mould decanter retains its original stopper; the detail and relief are sharp and well defined, and this unusual piece, whose maker and pattern unknown to us, is in excellent original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some chips to the bottom of the stopper (see image). We would be happy to add the name of the pattern if any knowledgeable glass person would care to drop us an email. A pair of English Imari lustre jugs from the 1830s. This decorative unmarked pair of early to mid 19thC English jugs or pitchers is in the Imari colours with pink Sunderland luster. The largest is 8" tall and the smaller is 7"; both have embossed decoration and are hand painted. These jugs are in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs except for some minor glaze flakes and craze lines on the upper rim of the larger jug, some allover crazing on the smaller jug, a couple of straight-line craze lines on the smaller one that don't appear on the external side of the piece, and some very minor spots of wear to the decoration. A vintage Victorian period porcelain pink lustre 5 piece condiment or cruet set depicting a playing pair of cherubs or children with the legend "A present from Rathdowney" (a town located in County Laois, Ireland). This 5-3/8" across set is 5-1/4" deep and stands 4-1/2" high with the lids and shaker insert. It includes the base with molded leaf decoration, gold trim and the original spoon for the lidded mustard pot; the shaker inserts into one of the cups. The lustre is a Sunderland pink, popular in the mid to late 19th century, and this set has an incised 776 on the bottom and was most likely made originally in Austria or Germany, and sold in Rathdowney. This set is in excellent original condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a touch of gold wear and a small 1/8" interior shallow rim chip on the mustard bowl and a small loss to the transfer decoration. There are the expected bits of frit and the mustard lid is original but is not a precise fit. A 19thC Bohemian red glass and enamel vase. This late Victorian era red or ruby flash 7-1/4" tall lobed vase features clear panels with acid etching with hand applied blue, orange and green enamel painting as well as traces of gold trim on the top edge. A matching English ironstone 8-3/8" tall teapot and eight 4-5/8" petit four plates, all with a tea or tobacco leaf variant in gold with gold trim. The teapot has some relief design on the feet and near the top, and the petit four plates have twelve sides. A fine quality two piece antique Gorham sterling string holder, made by Gorham 1890-1900. This lovely string holder weighs 3 ounces, and its pierced design allows you to see if you will soon need more string. It measures 3-1/4" in diameter and it stands 3-1/4" in height. It has the Gorham maker's mark with STERLING B1294 on the bottom, and this item is in excellent condition, with no monograms, corrosion, repairs or damage; there is a tiny dent on the bottom. An unusual find for your silver or string holder collection, and would also work well for pot-pourri. A Staffordshire figurine of a goatherd girl on a goat circa 1930 1850. This antique English figure dates to the early to mid quarter of the 19thC. She is hand painted painted fully on front, sides and back. 1830s -1860. It is a fine looking and well painted example reflecting the 19th century Victorian romanticism about farm and rural life with the advancing age of industrialism. People who lived on farms at the time would have found the concept of a girl riding a goat after gathering a basket of fruit possibly a little odd or possibly amusing. Meissen produced a pair of figurines of a tailor and his wife riding goats in the 18thC - possibly this figure was inspired by that. It measures 7 1/2" in height and is 5 1/2" at the widest. It is in mostly excellent condition except for one detail - the tip of the girl's foot is chipped. Other than that, it is in exceptional shape - no cracks, crazing or repairs, and the paint in in excellent shape. There is a firing crack on the back of the girl's neck, but it is original to the manufacture of the piece, and does not detract.We haven't been able as yet to find which English Staffordshire maker produced this.
