A set of six matching 15/16" nurse's buttons (we think) from a World War I era uniform. Each is made of white metal and all have a black patinated finish - jewellery and metal were blackened so as not to reflect light or shine in the dark to avoid attracting the attention of the low-flying airplanes. The three of them have their retaining cotter pins. This set is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor wear to the surface showing a glimpse of the metal underneath the black. A 7-5/8" berry spoon and a 4" pair of sugar tongs in the sterling silver Louis pattern, issued by Ellis (later Birks). The berry spoon weighs 66.3 grams, it has a fancy monogram, and it has some minor denting on the end of the bowl. The tongs have a fancy G monogram, it weighs 15.8 grams, and it has a hole through each claw for some unknown purpose. The Kidds Southern Ontario garage band photo circa 1965. This professionally photographed and framed portrait of the mid-1960s garage/psych band The Kidds, who recorded one 45 rpm single record ("Children in Love") for Nestor Records, was purchased at a local auction in St. Catharines, Ontario (near Niagara Falls), the hometown of the band and many others of the era. The 14-1/2 x 11-1/2" photo is matted in a 20-3/4 x 16-3/4" black painted wood frame and it is initialed on the lower right by the photographer. It is high quality and genuine, and most likely unpublished. There is a documentary on Niagara area bands which features the Kidds, and using that and the invaluable help of the kind people at the Garage Hangover internet site we have a positive identification of the band. Interestingly this photo is NOT shown in the documentary although lots of other items are featured (search for Miil for The Big Story of Small Potatoes documentary). A three piece silver plated carving set in the Deauville pattern, introduced by International in 1929. This Art Deco set comes in its original fitted box, and it consists of the 13-3/8" carving knife, the 12-3/4" sharpening steel, and the 11" carving fork. The blue wrapped 15 x 6-1/4" fitted box has a plush interior and it retains the foil International tag on the interior. This set is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs except for the still sharp knife which has substantial blade loss and fine denting on the handle from sharpening and use over the decades (the blade can be readily replaced). An unusual grouping of eight vintage 1940s moulded and hand painted hard rubber character figures. We haven't been able to identify the series or origin of this set (can you help?), and the largest, Dumbo, measures 2-1/4 x 2-1/2". Each has handpainted highlights in red and yellow and four have black painted shoes. This set includes the Mad Hatter, the Rabbit, Gepetto, Donald Duck, Dumbo, rabbit with heart, Red Queen, and Alice. Each of the tan/grey figures shows some soiling and minor paint wear, and all are unmarked. A vintage hand painted wartime (disarmed) 17-1/2" mortar bomb with the stamped identification SSE 42 1-1/2 LBT. It has caged fins for stability and it has a an eyehook from which it was suspended from wire for display. It is painted in white, black, red and white and it has the legend "The Brig" in script. We're not sure of the country or age other than it appears vintage. It is in very good condition with no major corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the expected minor scuffs and scrapes. A sterling silver modern design Consul (Switzerland) ladies wrist watch circa 1970. The brushed face has a gradient colour, from chocolate to golden amber. The hands are silver, and the body of the watch is an abstract modernist plain solid cuff style. The back of the cuff has a clever and unusual gate type of closure to allow it to be easily taken on and off, unlike a cuff bracelet. The clasp works well and there is a safety chain and this watch weighs 48.0 grams. The face is marked Consul and Swiss Made, and it is a 17 jewel manual wind works. The back has an RW mark, as well as 925 sterling mark, a German crescent moon and crown, a floral oval hallmark and the (model?) numbers 5391 and 22. It measures 1 11/16" at the widest but tapers to a width of 5/8" at the narrowest, and the widest interior measurement is 2 3/8" across. It is currently working and keeping time and it appears to be in good working order, but we cannot offer a guarantee as we have no idea when it was last cleaned. It is in excellent condition - no damage or repairs. A 4-1/2" tall heavy blue glass goblet with hand cutting, an inserted blue Wedgwood Jasperware portrait of Prince Charles, and all of the paperwork, certificates, stickers and the original fitted box. Issued in 1977, this goblet is #837/3000. The box has an applied silver label, the goblet has a Wedgwood silver label, It has the numbered certificate, and it has the descriptive pamphlet. A very attractive German made 9 x 5-3/4" gold plated brass mounted glass bead floral purse c1920. This purse has deep purple, black, blue, turquoise, green, light green, pink, lilac, red, amber and yellow beads with beaded fringe along the bottom. It has a brass chain and clasp and a yellow cloth interior. It is stamped GERMANY on the clasp and it is darker than our pictures and the beads include deep purple as well as black. This item is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the loss of a couple of the fringe drops (hardly noticeable) and some minor loss to the gold plating. A rare and exotic authentic period Art Deco gilt brass and purple glass bead mesh head covering or skullcap hat c1920s. This unusual and fabulous fashion accessory would have been the height of fashion at a speakeasy or dance club; it consists of large gilt brass loops, gold plated chains and purple glass beads. It is unsigned and it measures 13" long when suspended from the central loop and 11-1/2" across the loops. This item is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, losses, damage or repairs. There is some minor wear to the gilding in spots, not too noticeable and appropriate for age. Guaranteed to be a vintage covering, not a reproduction. It was originally lined with a gauzy fabric, which was removed by the previous owner. There are two small spots of corrosion. A Victorian child's ironstone dinner set circa 1860 with 35 pieces. This rare and early 35 piece set is one of the most complete we have encountered, and it has many serving pieces; it has a black transfer design. It was made by Livesley Powell & Co. of Hanley, Staffordshire, England (1851-1866), with the BEST LP & Co. maker's mark found on three of the rim soup bowls only. This set includes: two 4" across the spout and handle gravy or sauce boats, six 4-1/2" dinner plates, six 3-5/8" salad plates, four 3" bread and butter plates, six 4-1/2" rim soup bowls, 4-3/8 x 3-1/2" oval open vegetable bowl (some minor browning), a set of three platters (5-5/8 x 4-1/2", 5-3/8 x 4-1/4", 4-7/8 x 3-7/8" (tight hairline resembling craze line showing on both sides)), 4-1/4" high and 4-1/2" across the handles covered round footed entree dish, a second footed entree dish without the lid, and, amazingly, the soup tureen complete with ladle, lid, bowl and underplate! The soup tureen itself consists of the 5-7/8 x 5-1/4" fitted underplate (underglaze "PRINTED" stamp on bottom), 4" across lid with ladle opening, 4-1/2" ladle with transfer design, 5-5/8" across the handles footed base (minor browning). The tureen stands 6-1/4" high, and this amazing set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs unless stated; please note that all pieces have fine overall crazing and a few have the expected very minor firing flaws found in items of this vintage. A true rarity. This is a hand-carved marbled Bakelite plastic perfume bottle pin or brooch c1930s. This pin consists of a block of amber Bakelite with swirls of black, red, green and other colours resembling burled wood. It has a safety clasp and it has a hand-carved Bakelite perfume bottle suspended from brass chains. It has a black bakelite stopper on a brass chain as well and the bottle is mostly green with yellow and black highlights. A 9K yellow gold man's pocket knife fully hallmarked London, England 1950. This classy gift or men's accessory measures 3-1/4 x 7/16", it has thick engine-turned gold panels enclosing the two blades and it is fully hallmarked and dated 1950 with an SJR maker's mark (for S.J. Rose). Each gold cover is hallmarked and the hinges or rivets are covered by the engine turned design. The blades are marked STAINLESS SHEFFIELD and this knife has never been engraved or initialled. An antique Chinese lady motif tea chest tin with hasp. This domed trunk style tea chest is 8-7/8" wide and it stands 6" tall. It features a blue and yellow lithographed design and the swing-up brass handle has Victorian style decoration. It also has a brass hasp and eye for a lock and it has a circled DB or BD maker's mark which we haven't identified. By the construction and style we'd say it's late Victorian but it could be slightly later - it is in very good condition with some minor surface corrosion spots, a few minor scrapes and a dent on the bottom along with the expected wear. A Niagara Falls Scottie dog souvenir figurine from the 1910 1920 era. This 5-1/2" long and 3-7/8" tall cast pot metal (probably) figurine has an attached planchet depicting Niagara Falls N.Y. on it's back and the modelling and detail is quite fine.
