This size 4-1/2 or 4.5 yellow gold ring features a tested golden rectangle cut cut sapphire stone of approximately 3.75 carats (estimated from gauge measurement). The gem color is a golden orange or gold orange colour. It weighs 2.7 grams, and it is stamped 10K with slightly obscured maker's marks and the Canadian manufacture mark. This ring features a claw-set oval faceted 12 carat (calculated) synthetic alexandrite with lush purple and intense blue colour. These simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl. This created gemstone has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones usually test as corundums or sapphires on a gem tester (natural genuine alexandrites of this colour are expensive and uncommon, and most of what you will see for sale is the paler or simulated version).
