A Howard Sterling Co. 4 piece brush and mirror set from the 1890s. This high relief, decorative personal grooming set consists of the 10 x 5" hand mirror with beveled glass, the 9-1/4 x 3" hair brush, the 5-5/8 x 1-3/4" small clothes or shoulder brush and the 7 x 2-1/2" large clothes brush. This vanity or dresser set matches, it has the Howard marks, STERLING, 925/1000 and a patent date of 1892 (PAT. '92.). Not all pieces have all of the marks but they certainly match and each piece has a fancy script AGA (or AJA) monogram. This set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than a few minor edge dents on the small brush and a few larger dents on one side of the mirror. A set of three scarce 4" footed green pressed glass nappies or small bowls in the Daisy & Button with Thumbprint Panel, introduced by Adams & Co., Pittsburgh in 1886. A large pair of European 19thC porcelain figural centerpiece swan bowls. Made as dining room table decorations with an open center for flowers, fruit, etc., these large and beautifully detailed swans are possible German in origin (both are unmarked). They measure 12-1/2" long and they stand 10" high; they are finely detailed and are in a simple white glaze. They weigh approximately 4 pounds / a bit under 2 kilograms each. They are in very good original condition with no cracks, scrapes, damage or repairs other than a loss to the right foot of one and some bottom-only small craze lines and slight loss to the left foot on the other. A rare, early English flow blue covered entree or casserole dish c1860. This serving piece stands 7" high with the lid, and it measures 11-1/4" x 10-1/2". It has a floral style motif, and it has a pseudo Chinese mark, minor variants of which were used by Charles Meigh (1835-49), Charles Meigh & Son (1851-61) and also Job Meigh (c1805-34), all of Hanley, Staffordshire; we feel it dates c1850-60 but it could be of earlier manufacture. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight 2-1/2" hairline crack on the lid and some scattered craze lines on the top and bottom. An ornate Victorian or early Art Nouveau period silver plated belt circa 1895 - 1900. This antique hand engraved 25-3/4" long belt consists of a two-part 2-3/4" wide ornate buckle with tongue and loop clasp, which is attached to fancy 1-1/4" across hand engraved panels linked with wire loops with small spacers. It is stamped EPNS with an FFE maker's mark in a shield and it can be shortened by the removal of some of the spacers. An attractive Ridgways Chiswick pattern sauce tureen in the flow blue colour circa 1900. A TJ&J Mayer superb glazed moulded stoneware jug from the 18303s - 1850s. This wonderfully detailed and high quality glazed English high relief stoneware pitcher is 9-1/2" in height. It has a chocolate brown stippled ground on which is laid very thick allegorical scenes with palm trees in greyish coloured clay. It is known as the Paul and Virginia design. The hand-carved detail is stunning and even the handle is decorated with fronds and a stalk. The lip has two holes for the fitting of a pewter lid which was an option with these jugs - this example was never fitted. It has the stamped T.J.&J. MAYERS PATENT mark with DALE HALL POTTERY LONGPORT under the Royal Arms mark which was in use from c1843-55. It also has a No 102 18 pattern mark and the registry number for 1850. This item is in superb original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some faint crazing on the glazed interior only. A sterling silver cherubs brush mirror & comb set 1890 to 1900. This wonderfully ornate Victorian period set consists of the 10" x 3-7/8" mirror, the 9-3/8" x 2-1/2" brush with natural bristles, and the 7-5/8" long comb. Each is hallmarked for Birmingham, England and they have the Thomas Hayes maker's mark; the brush year hallmark is 1890, the comb year hallmark is 1898 and the mirror year hallmark is 1900. It is quite normal for these sets to have slightly differing dates on the various pieces from the same firm, as they were assembled into sets for sale from existing stock, and sometimes pieces were purchased over time. All three have a script BETH monogram, and they are in very good condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor edge denting to the brush, and the replacement of the comb with a recent plastic one and a soldered repair to the mirror at the handle/mirror join. The original bevelled mirror is in fairly good shape also, which is not always the case. A Royal Nippon hand painted white green & gold floral jardiniere plant pot from the 1880s. This beauty measures 8-5/8" across the handles and it stands 4-3/8" tall on its four feet. The decoration includes white flowers with a bit of orange blush on a few petals, pale green ground and a medium green band under the flowers. It is lushly decorated with applied gold and it has lots of beading. The bowl itself if lobed and the handles are forked at the top. It is typically unmarked and dates to around 1880 (items had to be marked for country of origin after 1891). It appears to never have been used for plants and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than some minor gold rubbing to the handles and the top edge. A pair of early Staffordshire figurines of eagles on vermicular or marble painted bases from 1820-1850. These well modelled heavily gilded 19thC English earthenware eagles are 7-3/4" tall. Both have tilted heads and back-stretched wings. They have purple, yellow and orange marble-like painting on the simple rectangular shape bases. The mustard yellow rocky perches have a blue flower. They not signed with a manufacturer's stamp, unfortunately fairly common with Staffordshire figures. They are in very good, but not undamaged condition. One is undamaged with only a firing crack, which is original to the manufacture of the figurines (see image), and the other has had the lower portion of one wing and the head re-glued. Some wear to the gilding. The breaks and repair are quite clean and it could be restored professionally. The only pair of Staffordshire eagles I have owned in over 40 years selling antiques. The firing crack is very small with only small expected disturbances (including slight browning to the beak of one eagle) which don't detract from the appeal of these unusual figurines. They are in very good as-described condition with otherwise no damage or repairs other than mentioned. Shipping is by FedEx to the US (please ask for a quote) or $35.00 within Canada.
