A pair of ornate Edwardian sterling silver posie vases dated 1902-1903. These attractive 3-7/8" tall sterling silver vases are fully hallmarked for Birmingham, England (one 1902, the other 1903). These vases are plaster filled under the bases and they weigh a total of 127 grams. They have the maker's mark for Saunders & Shepherd Ltd. London. This pair is in mostly excellent antique condition for its age with no corrosion damage or repairs other than a bend at the top of one vase and some shallow denting underneath the vases(1903)some minor cracking and soiling to the plaster. A William IV sterling silver vinaigrette made by Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England 1833. Vinaigrettes were used in the 18th and 19th century as a personal hygiene accessory for the moneyed class and were used to carry pleasant oils and attars or vinegars which were absorbed into cloth pads under the pierced gilded grillwork and sniffed so as to cover up the smells of everyday life (when there were open sewers and waste and garbage were tossed from windows onto the sidewalks and streets below). This 1-7/16 x 1" example has fine hand engraving and it retains the fine openwork grill and gilding. It has the hallmarks and maker's mark for Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England and the date letter for 1833. It has a gothic M monogram on the top and it is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some signs of slightly abrasive polishing in the past.

A large and elegant European silver goblet of modern design by Wilhelm Binder of Schwabisch Gmund (Germany), established in 1869. This goblet apparently dates c1900-10. It measures 8-3/4" (24cm) in height, and measures 4-1/4" (just under 11 cm) across the rim. It weighs approximately 227 grams. It is stamped with the German post-1886 crescent moon and crown mark, 835 WTB and has a company number of 73123 and a small punch mark we could not make out. It has not been monogrammed or inscribed, and it is in excellent condition, with no dents, breaks, corrosion, repairs or damage. It has a sinuous Art Nouveau floral design and it is stamped STERLING GORHAM MFG CO 1984/6 on the bottom. The antique mother-of-pearl shirt or vest buttons with 15k yellow gold criss-cross centers and loops (unmarked but tested) comes in the original presentation box/case. This set consists of the 5-1/4" x 1-3/8" dark brown leather-covered box with gold trim, containing six 9/16" across gold and mother-of-pearl buttons plus six gold plate over brass spiral button attachment loops. This beauty has reeded legs with claw and ball feet, Greek style square handles, a threaded finger lift for the rolltop and a fancy pierced drip insert which sits in the removable inner dish. A Martin Hall Victorian English silver plated meat dome. This 12-1/4" x 9-3/8" meat dome or cover was made by Martin, Hall & Co. of Sheffield, England (1854-1934). This table serving piece features a bolted and pegged finial with a wing nut and it stands 8-3/4" high. It is stamped 1127 EPNS with the maker's mark, and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than one small penpoint protruberant dent and a nearby shallow penpoint dent. A Georgian sterling silver large footed master salt dish dated 1817. This simply splendid high quality English Georgian silver open salt dish is fully hallmarked for London 1817. This 3-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" high bowl has fine high relief and rather unusual rim decoration of a lion head alternating with a shell, surrounded by flowers, with ornate floral feet. It retains the original gilding on the bowl as well. It is stamped with the maker's mark for William Elliot or William Eaton of London. It weighs an impressive 162.6 grams. It has a small lion rampant family crest engraving on one shoulder (not shown). One of the largest and most unusual Georgian silver open salts we have seen. A pair of English Georgian period sterling silver footed salt cellars or dishes with clear glass liners, fully hallmarked for London, England 1771-2. This antique pair of 2-1/2" diameter salt stands or dips are 1-1/2" high, and they have three hoof design feet. The liners are clear blown glass with a polished pontil, and these salt dips have a maker's mark for Nathaniel Appleton and Anne Smith (London, est. 1771). They weigh 67.6 grams without the liners, and they are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than old repairs to two legs on one salt (well finished on the exterior and barely visible - see pictures). A 19th c. hand painted toleware large tray. This decorative, vintage and stunning handpainted and signed large toleware display or serving tray dates to around 1860. This 24-3/8 x 19-3/4" painted metal tray features a large central basket of colourful and varied flowers; it has a floreate stepped edge and the G. J. Rudolph artist's signature. We have been unable to get any information on this artist, however the painting is superb. An S Kirk and Sons sterling silver repousse nut serving bowl and matching spoon. The 6-1/2" diameter bowl and 5-1/4" long spoon both have the high-relief floral repousse work this quality American silver firm was known for. It is on on the bowl's rim and on the spoon handle and in the bowl, which also has a relief scene of fruit including pineapple, grape, apple and strawberry. The spoon's bowl measures 2" across. Both pieces have a fancy S monogram, and each is stamped S. KIRK & SON STERLING. The pattern number 409 is on the bottom of the bowl. A 800 solid hand engraved Italian lidded canister or box circa 1930-35. This lovely silver item is gilded on the interior and it has a lobed design with ornate floral engraving. It could possibly have been for cigarettes, although similar items were also prodiced to hold sugar or tea. It is stamped 800 MILANO and A RONCHI on the bottom. The jewellery firm August Ronchi opened in Milan, Italy in 1929 - this firm sells mostly high end jewellery and watches, but has also produced lovely quality silver items in the past. A Chinese export silver 3 piece cruet set with spiders and lizards. This truly unusual and well-made three piece cruet set is in high grade Chinese export silver. Dating to the late 19th-early 20th century, this condiment set has the 2-1/2" high pepper shaker, the 1-1/4" high open salt dish and the 2-1/4" high lidded mustard pot with handle. What makes this set exceptional is the presence of very high relief applied spiders being chased by lizards. The mouths are open on the lizards and the detail is stunning; each piece is on three insect-like legs. Each piece has Chinese silver marks, not a mark I have seen before - but given the unusual use of lizards and bugs, this piece had the look of work by Chinese silversmith Luen Hing. I have not seen this mark attached to any of his known work, so this is merely a speculative opinion. The 3 pc set weighs a total of 115.9 grams, and there is no liner present in the salt dish. This set is in excellent vintage condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some indenting to two feet on each of the interiors of the mustard and salt pieces, and slight denting on bugs.
