A rare, early English flow blue three piece soup tureen c1850-60. This tureen stands 11" high with the lid, and the matching, fitted underplate measures 14-3/4" x 13". It has a floral style motif, and it has an impressed S as well as a pseudo Chinese mark, minor variants of which were used by Charles Meigh (1835-49), Charles Meigh & Son (1851-61) and also Job Meigh (c1805-34), all of Hanley, Staffordshire; we feel it dates from c1850-60 but it could possibly be of earlier manufacture. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight 1-3/4" craze-like hairline near the lid's finial, some overall crazing, a few scattered craze lines to the bowl. A fine 19th century 6-1/2" Stourbridge-style milk glass vase with amber glass applied leaves and feet plus red cherries. The milk glass has nice orange fire when held to the light, and the leaves, feet and cherries are well formed. It is unsigned, and it in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs other than the loss of part of the amber glass stem on one cherry (see picture). A scarce covered jar in the early American pressed or pattern glass Festoon pattern, issued by Beatty Brady Glass Co. (Indiana 1898). This 7-1/2" jar (including lid) has a crisp and attractive pattern with much raised detail; it is in very good condition with no losses, damage or repairs other than some minor upper edge chipping where the lid sits on the upper rim and one 5/8" internal impact crack on the bottom rim (intact with no loss). A 19th century Staffordshire flat back china cottage 1850-60s. It is the flat back type, and measures 4 1/4" high and 3 7/16" across. The colouration is simple - yellow ochre and rust-brown. It is overall in excellent condition for its age except for a small chip on the chimney and wear to the painted decoration. The bocage around the roof eaves is in excellent shape (very minor loss, not noticeable) and no cracks, crazing, staining or repairs. Cottages are hard to find, and this is a nice example. A Royal Nippon hand painted white green & gold floral jardiniere plant pot from the 1880s. This beauty measures 8-5/8" across the handles and it stands 4-3/8" tall on its four feet. The decoration includes white flowers with a bit of orange blush on a few petals, pale green ground and a medium green band under the flowers. It is lushly decorated with applied gold and it has lots of beading. The bowl itself if lobed and the handles are forked at the top. It is typically unmarked and dates to around 1880 (items had to be marked for country of origin after 1891). It appears to never have been used for plants and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than some minor gold rubbing to the handles and the top edge. A Victorian Naturalism sterling silver christening mug. Hand engraved and fully hallmarked for London, England 1882, this 3-3/4" mug features a leaf and floral design on both sides (both slightly different). An Edwardian 15k Mother of Pearl and rubies button set in box 1900. These antique shirt or vest mother-of-pearl buttons have bezel set genuine ruby centers and 15k button attachment loops (unmarked but tested). It comes in the original box or case. A pair of early Staffordshire figurines of eagles on vermicular or marble painted bases from 1820-1850. These well modelled heavily gilded 19thC English earthenware eagles are 7-3/4" tall. Both have tilted heads and back-stretched wings. They have purple, yellow and orange marble-like painting on the simple rectangular shape bases. The mustard yellow rocky perches have a blue flower. They not signed with a manufacturer's stamp, unfortunately fairly common with Staffordshire figures. They are in very good, but not undamaged condition. One is undamaged with only a firing crack, which is original to the manufacture of the figurines (see image), and the other has had the lower portion of one wing and the head re-glued. Some wear to the gilding. The breaks and repair are quite clean and it could be restored professionally. The only pair of Staffordshire eagles I have owned in over 40 years selling antiques. The firing crack is very small with only small expected disturbances (including slight browning to the beak of one eagle) which don't detract from the appeal of these unusual figurines. A 19th century Japanese Kutani bottle vase. This well painted hand decorated 6-1/8" vase features gold decoration, floral and figural panels and decoration in black and orange. This is a 10-1/2" x 8-1/2" ball-footed swing-handle serving basket fully hallmarked for Sheffield, England 1895-6. Made by James Dixon & Sons, this basket has ornate repousse decoration in the bowl as well as attractive design to the ornate handle. It has a presentation inscription in the centre, as it was presented as a gift in September 1896, and it weighs an impressive 595 grams. A Martin Hall Victorian English silver plated meat dome. This 12-1/4" x 9-3/8" meat dome or cover was made by Martin, Hall & Co. of Sheffield, England (1854-1934). This table serving piece features a bolted and pegged finial with a wing nut and it stands 8-3/4" high. It is stamped 1127 EPNS with the maker's mark, and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than one small penpoint protruberant dent and a nearby shallow penpoint dent. The plating is completely intact and this dome is in superb condition. A Canton enamel squash blossom jewel or trinket box from the 1880s 1890s. This lovely and large Chinese enamel on metal box measures 4-1/2 x 3-1/2" and it stands 2-3/4" high on its foot rim. It is nicely worked with a fine life-like appearance and the hand applied enamel is in yellow, green and blue. The interior is light blue as is the underside. This embossed pair of 19th century salt cellars are 2" in diameter and they feature floral embossing and scalloped rims; they are stamped with the lion/anchor/G Gorham mark, STERLING, 2235 (pattern number) with the Gorham 1889 year mark. A wonderful antique decorative pair of oval ornate Victorian period sterling silver bowls or baskets, fully hallmarked London, England 1895-96. These high style late Victorian dishes measure 6-3/4" x 5", and are just over 1" deep. They have high relief repousse Gothic designs and pierce-work panels, and they have a W.R.C. maker's mark for William Richard Corke. There is also a British registry number stamped in the rim of both bowls - it looks like RD. 248864. They are heavier than the usual pierce-work English sterling dishes you normally find from this period - one basket weighs 81 grams, and the other 83 grams - and are a lovely quality pair of dishes. Other than a few minor rim bends, they are overall in excellent vintage condition, with no dents, monograms, corrosion, repairs or damage. It is an open edge, so this is restorable. A superb quality 19th century hand painted German porcelain double spills vase c1860-80. This decorative mantle piece measures 7-3/4" wide and it stands 7-1/4" tall; it is in the form of a boy at the seashore with waves and two shells acting as the vases. The painting and detail are superb, from the finely painted face to the realistic sand and the painted flowers on the boy's pants. A pair of mid-19thC ornate Meissen style covered urns. This amazing and massive pair of mid-19th century French porcelain 19" covered mantle urns were made by M.S. Claus, France. They are fully hand painted and in the Meissen style, and both are extravagantly festooned with hand-formed and applied flowers and leaves. Each is topped with a similarly decorated lid, topped with a figure of a child. The colours are bright and vivid and they have the crossed swords mark for Claus and a 1777 pattern number. Each has had some restoration - the child with the umbrella finial has a repaired and repainted base and the lid has a large firing crack (on the interior edge and not visible when on display). It also has some gold wear to the lid's rim, and the base has a large area of restoration and painting to the upper rim and a firing crack to the outer shoulder. The other urn's lid has a similar interior firing crack, and the base has a similar repair to its rim as well (which also has a crack on the repaired area). Each urn has some minor expected chipping and losses to the flowers, and this pair is in very good/reasonable condition with a good appearance, and they could be completely restored if desired. A Victorian silver plate rolltop butter dish or server in the Aesthetic style from the 1880s. This antique beauty was made by Meriden and it has all of the hallmarks of quality and Victorian style and mechanical complexity. It has a pedestal base, a handle with floral decoration, high relief borders and a roll top with a pressed floral design. The rolling lid rests on two pins secured with a chained pinion and there are mounts on each side for a pair of butter knives. This steampunk item remains in reasonable condition with a few issues - one knife rest is missing (3 are intact), one side of one mounting bracket for the retaining pins is broken off, there is some pitting on the interior where a (now missing) ice liner would have been and there is a bit of plating loss on a few areas. The rolltop is functional and this would make a great decor item or table centerpiece (and a great "what is it?" for your next dinner party). An early 19thC blue saltglaze pitcher. This high relief early to mid-19th century 6-1/8" tall salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug has an allegorical scene with grapes and vines; it is unsigned and it has a nice medium blue colour. A Georgian sterling silver large footed master salt dish dated 1817. This simply splendid high quality English Georgian silver open salt dish is fully hallmarked for London 1817. This 3-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" high bowl has fine high relief and rather unusual rim decoration of a lion head alternating with a shell, surrounded by flowers, with ornate floral feet. It retains the original gilding on the bowl as well. It is stamped with the maker's mark for William Elliot or William Eaton of London. It weighs an impressive 162.6 grams. It has a small lion rampant family crest engraving on one shoulder (not shown). One of the largest and most unusual Georgian silver open salts we have seen. A scarce English Pratt ware Lord Nelson and Capt. Berry jug made between 1798-1806. We believe it was made to commemorate either the Battle of the Nile (a significant English military battle of 1798) or the battle of Trafalgar (1805), a most significant English military battle still commemorated today in England on Trafalgar Day. This 5-3/8" tall pitcher has stylized portraits of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and Captain Edward Berry with orange, brown, cobalt and green glazes on the high-relief modelling. Prattware is not often found in perfect condition, and this piece is not, either. This jug is un-restored except for a primitive and early reattachment of the bottom of the handle. There is some interior browning and staining, some overall crazing and some exterior browning on the spout. The bottom of the handle is missing and the bottom third has been crudely cemented in place. This jug is well worth having professionally restored, and it is a seldom seen English historic commemorative. It is in fair intact condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or damage other than stated above.

This is a genuine English sterling silver William IV teapot fully hallmarked for London, England 1837. This table serving piece measures 11-1/4" from spout to handle and it has a wonderful bolt-mounted floral finial. It has fine leaf and flower repousse decoration throughout and it stands on four fancy feet. It has the maker's mark for the respected English silversmith firm of Edward, Edward Jr., John and W. Barnard and it weighs an impressive 810 grams. A rare Clews Jasperware cream jug circa 1815-34. This pre-Victorian English 3-3/4" high milk jug is signed by Clews. Ralph and James Clews (Cobridge, Staffordshire) was in business only from 1815-34; pieces of Jasperware in imitation of Wedgwood were tricky to manufacture and as a result examples by Clews are quite scarce. This buff coloured example has applied bacchanalia scenes, with figures drinking wine and holding grapes. It has a grape-leaf border and a hand-formed spout. It has an incised CLEWS on the bottom, and it shows the typical firing cracks in the decoration typical of the era. A very rare set of (probably) English 9-7/8" plates in a variant of the original Blue Willow pattern. We haven't been able to accurately identify this pattern with its distinctive border butterflies in our books, however they are definitely Georgian. The porcelain is the expected light gray and the decoration is slightly blurred and each plate has the expected frit and minor variations from the manufacture of these items. It is quite unusual to find a matched set of four of these plates and one has a partial gold seal from the British Antique Dealer Association (B.A.D.A.) which guaranteed that the plates were over 100 years old at the time of sale (many decades ago). They are unsigned and are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a 5/8" loss to the surface glaze on the rim of one plate only. A William IV sterling silver vinaigrette made by Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England 1833. Vinaigrettes were used in the 18th and 19th century as a personal hygiene accessory for the moneyed class and were used to carry pleasant oils and attars or vinegars which were absorbed into cloth pads under the pierced gilded grillwork and sniffed so as to cover up the smells of everyday life (when there were open sewers and waste and garbage were tossed from windows onto the sidewalks and streets below). This 1-7/16 x 1" example has fine hand engraving and it retains the fine openwork grill and gilding. It has the hallmarks and maker's mark for Thomas Shaw of Birmingham, England and the date letter for 1833. It has a gothic M monogram on the top and it is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some signs of slightly abrasive polishing in the past.

A Georgian English hand painted Imari dessert dish or platter circa 1800 1820. This 11-1/4" x 7-1/4" unmarked bowl features gold, orange, cobalt, teal, green and purple painted floral designs. Although it lacks an indent, it is possible that this is the platter that went beneath a tureen. It is 1-3/4" deep at the deepest point, so we are also calling it a s dish or shallow bowl. We have so far been unable to identify the manufacturer or pattern, but it is entirely consistent with English late 18th to early 19th century manufacture. A rare Bilston enamel cow patchbox with floral 1770-1790. This antique English Georgian period Bilston enamel patchbox or patch box features an enamelled lying cow on the top and a painted porcelain floral on the bottom circa. This 1-7/8" x 1-5/8" copper/brass mounted box was used to hold patches, the applied facial beauty marks popular at this time. It stands 1-1/4" high, and the hand painted cow has a well-painted face, with green, pink, white, yellow and black enamel. The hand painted floral design on the underside is well painted, and the interior has a mirror and white enamel on the top's inside. These period porcelain blue and white 1-5/8" high cups and 4-5/8" saucers date from 1736-95, and this set has a central scene on the saucers and the outside of the cups, decorated borders, and interior flowers in the cups. All pieces are unmarked, and they are in good condition with no losses, damage or repairs other than a 1/16" rim flake to the glaze on one cup and roughness and glaze flakes to the rims of all of the saucers. A late 18thC Qing Dynasty Canton enamel bowl. This high quality bowl has original gilding and it dates to circa 1770 - 1800. This lobed quatrefoil shaped bowl measures 7-3/4" x 6-1/4" and it is 3-1/8" in height. The enamelling is particularly fine, done to the Chinese taste. The rim of the bowl retains much of its original gilding. The interior is a pale blue enamel, the bottom is speckled white. The upper rim has a Greek key design border. While it doesn't appear to have been much used other than decoratively, this bowl was likely made to be a jardiniere, and may have been used as that previously. It is in excellent condition for its age, with no corrosion, apparent losses, damage or repairs other than a slight touch of wear to the gilding on the edges and some minor discolouration spots to the interior enamel. It is possible they are slightly older. This antique Chinese porcelain set has a man on a horse holding a small twig, followed by a servant carrying provisions. The background shows a tree starting to flower. My interpretation is that he was looking for indications that winter is over, so the important work of spring can begin. The scenes are the same on the saucers and the outside of the cups, decorated borders, and interior flowers in the cups (possibly prunus/plum), but everything is hand painted, so no pieces are identical.
