A scarce World War I era 60" patinated metal and purple cut glass fan or watch chain circa 1915. Unsigned but possibly English, it was common for jewelry at this time to be blackened or patinated so as to avoid flashing and glinting, which could have been seen by the enemy fliers at night. World War I planes were smaller and flew lower, so moonlight reflecting on jewelry allowed people to be seen. The patination made it possible to wear jewelry that was not visible at night, so this style of jewelry became popular until 1918. This watchchain necklace has a large spring-ring catch and swivel, and the chain has oblong loops. This item is in mostly excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor abrasions to the back edges of the unfoiled amethyst glass stones. A (probably) Czechoslovakian 20" glass bead necklace c1910-20. This unusual necklace features faceted crystal round beads (5/16" and 5/8"), multicolour striped crystal 3/4" rods, black glass spacers and black round beads (7/16" and 3/4"). Also included are black double-cone beads with white applied edges and hand-blown green glass roses. All are joined with string and it has a springring catch; it is in excellent original condition with no cracks, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some edge chips to one multicolour bead, a slight corner chip to another and two green roses with losses. The antique mother-of-pearl shirt or vest buttons with 15k yellow gold criss-cross centers and loops (unmarked but tested) comes in the original presentation box/case. This set consists of the 5-1/4" x 1-3/8" dark brown leather-covered box with gold trim, containing six 9/16" across gold and mother-of-pearl buttons plus six gold plate over brass spiral button attachment loops. A vintage c1910 top-hinged photo locket fob pendant in 14k yellow gold with an inset genuine antique European cut 12 point (by gauge) diamond. The back has an inscription stating: "PRESENTED TO T.A. EATON BY MEMBERS OF PASSENGER DEPT G.T.R. MARCH 1910", and it has a 14K gold mark. The famous Timothy Eaton family of Toronto were involved with the Grand Trunk Railroad at this time - it is most likely that T.A. Eaton was Thomas Alden Eaton, son of James Eaton and nephew of Timothy Eaton. He served and died in WWI and is buried in France. This locket has a photo of a military-clad man on the inside, it weighs 12.4 grams, and it is in excellent original condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some shallow dents to each side. An early Art Deco 14k white and yellow gold watch chain with slip knot shape long links circa 1920. This vintage 15-1/4" long watchchain is unusual, each link has a slip-knot in the center. The links alternate between white and yellow gold. The spring-ring is a replacement, as unlike the rest of the chain which is 14k, it is 10k. The chain is stamped 585 (14K) on the loop near the swivel. The swivel is a moveable one, with s what appears to be an anchor. (tested for gold content, as it is otherwise unmarked).
