This 17-1/4" beauty consists of entwined finely coiled strands of wire on cord, one patinated black and the other brass, with a suspended 1-3/8" disc pendant. The pendant has a black onyx-style bakelite or celluloid ring with a creamy white dome of celluloid in the center, all set is a bezel brass setting. A superb quality 4-3/8" across Sorrento ware wood inlay trinket or jewellery box from the mid to late 19th century. This box stands 1-3/4" high and it has wonderful colour and workmanship. The sides feature red banding and a Greek key design in green, yellow and black with a brown ground. The top is the highlight, with literally thousands of individually placed fruitwood tesserae in a needlepoint-style flower and leaf panel decoration - the effect isquite similar to a carpet; the colours are bright and unfaded and the fine workmanship is remarkable. The interior of the box is olive wood. The condition of this unsigned, brass-hinged box is very good indeed for a box of its age and type, with only some very small barely noticeable losses and craquelure to the finish. There is a small loss along the edge of one corner panel, some minor lid warping to the hinge and front edge leaving small gaps, a thin crack and small corner losses to one lower red band on one side panel and the possible replacement of one half of one hinge with a non-brass one. A striking vintage Mexican sterling pendant set with a mixture of inlaid lapis and malachite, with a large cabochon cut tiger eye gem in the centre c1950-60. Two of the dangling pendants are also inlaid with lapis and malachite, and the centre dangle is solid silver. The pendant alone measures 3-3/4" x 2-1/8", and weighs 26.2 grams. It is stamped STERLING 925 with the eagle mark with a 2 in the centre, and the initials MR. There was a silversmith named Melecio Rodriguez who worked at the Rancho Alegre and for Margot de Taxco, but I can't verify if this is his work or not. It comes with a 18-1/2" sterling heavy link chain (weighs 16.7 grams, not Mexican manufacture). It is in very good condition, but please note than there is 1/8" piece missing from the second inlaid drop of the pendant. Otherwise it is in lovely condition, no breaks, wear, repairs or damage. An Art Deco bakelite and celluloid snake upper arm bracelet circa 1920s. This genuine period survivor measures 3" x 2-7/8" across the interior and the snake's heads are 5/16" across and both have cobalt blue glass rhinestone eyes. The body is black celluloid with an applied clear yellow layer over a bed of embedded sparkly metallic confetti. This Egyptian style figural bracelet is in mostly excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some groove striations/lines of the yellow section from the black and the usual fine patina of scratches from use, There are a couple of superficial stress cracks in the yellow section as well.
