This ring features a claw-set oval faceted 12 carat (calculated) synthetic alexandrite with lush purple and intense blue colour. These simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl. This created gemstone has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones usually test as corundums or sapphires on a gem tester (natural genuine alexandrites of this colour are expensive and uncommon, and most of what you will see for sale is the paler or simulated version).
