A Birks Esty Clochette sterling silver & 18k gold set with box. A top quality signed designer 4 pc set by ESTY, made for Birks Canada. It consists of the ring, pierced earrings, link bracelet and the pendant necklace. The ring is size 7-1/4 or 7.25 and it is 5/8" wide. The earrings are 1-3/4" x 5/8", and the bracelet is 7-1/2" long. Yes, one shell hangs one way, and one the other. Not a repair - it was designed that way. The necklace is 16" long and it has a lobster claw clasp and it has a 1-1/4" length pendant. All pieces are stamped with the Esty mark, BIRKS, 925 and 750 (for 18K). Of note in this set is the gilding on the silver. The 18k gold clusters swing freely on the earrings and on the pendant. The cluster is fixed on the ring, and the bracelet has a hook and eye clasp with each link mounted with 18k curled wires (but no clusters), some with ball ends. A 14k Birks white gold ruby and diamonds sunburst flower style ring circa 1940s. This size 5-1/2 or 5.5 ring features a round 1/2 carat (50 point) ruby (medium dark, purplish-red, moderately included, slightly chipped) surrounded by twelve brilliant cut diamonds (26 points total, VS, F-G-H colour) in a flower setting. The leaves have a fine beaded edge. This ring measures 9/16" across the setting, it weighs 3.1 grams and it is stamped BIRKS and 14 K. It has a conservative independent gemological appraisal for $1700 (Canadian). A scarce sterling silver filigree posey holder pin circa 1900 1910. This antique 2-1/4" long and 1" across (unmarked but tested) fantastic posy or corsage brooch is an example of ornate and very fine silver work. The ball and wire end makes me think it may be an older Indonesian / Yogya piece. It was assembled from three separate sections of filigree silver. It may be older than our estimate. This possible bridal item either started out as a flower bouquet holder and had the pin added or was always a posy-pin. It has a c-clasp. It can readily be converted to (or back to) a small bouquet holder. It weighs 12.6 grams, and it is in excellent condition for its age and fineness, with no corrosion or repairs other than what appears to be a small section of missing wire and the c-clasp has been repaired. A 12K Egyptian rose gold genuine yellow topaz ring. This vintage size 6-1/2 or 6.5 genuine topaz solitaire has gold hallmark for Egypt. The date mark may be for 1943 -1944, but that may vary by city where assayed. The claw-set stone is a rectangular faceted or emerald cut, and is a definite yellow with very slight brown under-tone, and has an excellent clarity. The topaz measures 11.5mm x 9.1mm and has a depth of 7.3mm, so it is slightly over 5 carats in size. The ring weighs 3.2 grams. We also tested the ring, and it appears to be closer to 14K, but is being sold according to its assay mark. A 9K rose gold amethyst seed pearls lavaliere pendant necklace 1900. This 9 K Arts & Crafts late Victorian period genuine amethysts and seed pearls lavaliere pendant necklace consists of the 1-7/8" x 3/4" (including bale) 9 K rose gold Victorian period pendant and the 16-1/4" Victorian period 9K rose gold chain with a spring-ring catch. The shield-shaped pendant has two bezel-set genuine amethysts and it is stamped 9Ct inside the bale. It is simpler is style than much of the fin-du-siecle jewellery, as this piece is showing an Arts and Crafts simplicity influencing the design. It weighs 5.5 grams. A Vict. gp & mop fancy spring extendable watch chain. This truly unusual 12" spring-loaded expanding Victorian gold plated over brass watch chain has with mother of pearl sections. This 1/2" wide chain features engraved round links with pierced loops, round thick plain loops and designed flattened patterned loops; it also has two spring-loaded segments with mother-of-pearl inserted sections. Each spring segment has engraving and finely made pivots and channels for the expansion spring; one has what appears to be either an old repair or for some other purpose, possibly a hanging component. It has one original swivel and one that has been added later; it has no identifying marks of any kind. We haven't seen a chain of this style before, and we've seen hundreds. An excellent curiosity.
