A Royal Worcester 6-1/4" face or mask jug with gold made in 1897. This exquisitely detailed jug has superb hand applied gold decoration in the form of wild daisies with yellow and reddish centers along with wild grasses. The gold is thickly applied with ridges and jewelling and the ornate handle is gold as well. The mask or face on the spout is crisp and detailed and this jug has the Grainger Royal Worcester China Works mark with the G year code for 1897. The creamy satin finish glaze is quite attractive and this jug or pitcher has a 328 pattern or shape number. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. A large pair of European 19thC porcelain figural centerpiece swan bowls. Made as dining room table decorations with an open center for flowers, fruit, etc., these large and beautifully detailed swans are possible German in origin (both are unmarked). They measure 12-1/2" long and they stand 10" high; they are finely detailed and are in a simple white glaze. They weigh approximately 4 pounds / a bit under 2 kilograms each. A pair of German 800 silver viande serving forks in the original box. This elegant and high quality pair of 800 silver German 8" viande or meat serving forks are in their original fitted box and they date to the 1900 1910 era. These forks are stamped 800 with the crown and eagle mark (Frankfurt, pre-1888), most likely produced by Bruckmann and Sohne (1805-1973). The forks are an interesting combiation of elegant Neoclassic revival design paired with the elements of Jugendstil - note the graceful and simple fork shape and crisp design to the ends of the handle. The 9" x 3-1/2" box is a tan coloured watered silk with a Greek key border and bronze coloured fittings with a patterned silk interior lid and cotton fitted platform with twisted cord trim. The forks weigh a substantial 83 grams, and they have traces of the original gilding. Lovely quality silver. This set is in mostly excellent vintage condition with no pattern wear, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some visible dents and bends to one tine of one fork. A stunning hand painted Art Nouveau porcelain centerpiece 1890 1900. This true Nouveau table decoration is likely German or Austrian. This 14-1/4" tall and 10-1/4" wide decorative item would look good on the table or on the mantlepiece. Constructed of two pieces, the bowl and base, it has a figure on a column in the center of the lower bowl, which has finely molded openwork flowing handles. All parts of this display piece are fully handpainted, from the finely detailed face to the fine gold highlights. The finish is mostly matte, with the interiors, body of the figure and central panel in a gloss surface. The interiors of the bowls have a lustre finish. The bowl attaches to the base column with a brass cylindrical mount and sleeve, and this ornate piece is unmarked. The condition of this item is remarkable - it has survived completely intact with no wear, losses or any damage whatsoever over the last 110 or so years. A group of four hand painted German porcelain cups and saucers by Helena Wolfsohn c1870s-80s. Each has fine floral decoration with garlands and gold trim and highlights, both inside and out. An English polychrome blue & white transfer milk jug circa 1850. This 19th century decorative 5-3/4" tall jug measures 6-1/2" from spout to handle, and it has a Chinese scene design. A Royal Nippon hand painted white green & gold floral jardiniere plant pot from the 1880s. This beauty measures 8-5/8" across the handles and it stands 4-3/8" tall on its four feet. The decoration includes white flowers with a bit of orange blush on a few petals, pale green ground and a medium green band under the flowers. It is lushly decorated with applied gold and it has lots of beading. The bowl itself if lobed and the handles are forked at the top. It is typically unmarked and dates to around 1880 (items had to be marked for country of origin after 1891). Made by many firms over many years, this collection was made by Haviland & Co. Limoges, France. A Davenport 2614 Old Imari 2451 style pattern cup and saucer from 1870-1887. This wonderful fully hand painted English bone china 2-5/8" tall cup and matching 5-5/8" saucer has lush gold, cobalt and orange decoration. The pattern was later copied by Royal Crown Derby as "Old Imari" or "Traditional Imari" (in production from 1902-2014). This scarce cup and saucer has the Davenport mark used from 1870-87 and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than a tiny 1/16" surface glaze flaw or glaze crack. The cup rings true and on the top and interior edge the flaw isn't visible through the original gilding, which was applied over the flaw at the factory. A finely detailed 11-3/4" tall silverplated epergne stand or base c1880s. This stand features a semi-nude woman stganding on a footed base holding the dish aloft; it is stamped MONARCH SILVER CO. 592 on the bottom. The bottom of the bowl support has a satin finish, and it measures 3-5/8" across the interior, with a 9/16" deep collar for supporting the bowl. This item is in very good condition with no corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor losses to the original plating, a break where her foot was soldered to the base (see picture) and some denting under her other foot. A Barbour Silver Co. silver plated tilt kettle, stand and associated burner from the 1890s. It has a simple, elegant design and it stands 13" tall from the top of the ebony wood handle to the bottom of the stand's ball feet. The base is unsigned, the kettle is stamped BARBOUR SILVER CO. NICKEL SILVER 4002 (operating from 1892-98) and the associated burner has the Meriden stamp. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends or corrosion, however the handle supports have been resoldered to the kettle, the kettle and stand appear to have been replated and the flame smothering cap on the burner has broken off and is lost (but it can be repaired or the burner can be replaced with a similarly sized one). A TJ&J Mayer superb glazed moulded stoneware jug from the 18303s - 1850s. This wonderfully detailed and high quality glazed English high relief stoneware pitcher is 9-1/2" in height. It has a chocolate brown stippled ground on which is laid very thick allegorical scenes with palm trees in greyish coloured clay. It is known as the Paul and Virginia design. The hand-carved detail is stunning and even the handle is decorated with fronds and a stalk. The lip has two holes for the fitting of a pewter lid which was an option with these jugs - this example was never fitted. It has the stamped T.J.&J. MAYERS PATENT mark with DALE HALL POTTERY LONGPORT under the Royal Arms mark which was in use from c1843-55. It also has a No 102 18 pattern mark and the registry number for 1850. An attractive Victorian period china jardiniere, c1880s. It has a repeating somewhat Art Nouveau floral motif, the flowers look a bit like poppies or anemones, all in blue transferware with occasional splashes of gold. It measures 5-3/4" in height and the opening measures just over 5" across (opening only, does not include the wavy rim). Although it is unmarked, which happened more frequently before 1891, it is almost certainly English in origin. A Victorian silver plate rolltop butter dish or server in the Aesthetic style from the 1880s. This antique beauty was made by Meriden and it has all of the hallmarks of quality and Victorian style and mechanical complexity. It has a pedestal base, a handle with floral decoration, high relief borders and a roll top with a pressed floral design. The rolling lid rests on two pins secured with a chained pinion and there are mounts on each side for a pair of butter knives. This steampunk item remains in reasonable condition with a few issues - one knife rest is missing (3 are intact), one side of one mounting bracket for the retaining pins is broken off, there is some pitting on the interior where a (now missing) ice liner would have been and there is a bit of plating loss on a few areas. The rolltop is functional and this would make a great decor item or table centerpiece (and a great "what is it?" for your next dinner party). A pair of English Imari lustre jugs from the 1830s. This decorative unmarked pair of early to mid 19thC English jugs or pitchers is in the Imari colours with pink Sunderland luster. The largest is 8" tall and the smaller is 7"; both have embossed decoration and are hand painted. These jugs are in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs except for some minor glaze flakes and craze lines on the upper rim of the larger jug, some allover crazing on the smaller jug, a couple of straight-line craze lines on the smaller one that don't appear on the external side of the piece, and some very minor spots of wear to the decoration. A pair of mid-19thC ornate Meissen style covered urns. This amazing and massive pair of mid-19th century French porcelain 19" covered mantle urns were made by M.S. Claus, France. They are fully hand painted and in the Meissen style, and both are extravagantly festooned with hand-formed and applied flowers and leaves. Each is topped with a similarly decorated lid, topped with a figure of a child. The colours are bright and vivid and they have the crossed swords mark for Claus and a 1777 pattern number. Each has had some restoration - the child with the umbrella finial has a repaired and repainted base and the lid has a large firing crack (on the interior edge and not visible when on display). It also has some gold wear to the lid's rim, and the base has a large area of restoration and painting to the upper rim and a firing crack to the outer shoulder. The other urn's lid has a similar interior firing crack, and the base has a similar repair to its rim as well (which also has a crack on the repaired area). Each urn has some minor expected chipping and losses to the flowers, and this pair is in very good/reasonable condition with a good appearance, and they could be completely restored if desired. An early magenta transfer cup and saucer from the 1830s-1850s. This nice early example of transferware is a 2-3/8" high footed cup and matching 6" saucer with a fine magenta (purple/red) colour floral transfer with handpainted highlights. It has a painted 2/441 pattern mark and a formed fluted column design. The saucer is deep for drinking from (an 18th and 19th century custom) and it is typical for the era. A Minton wild strawberries A2625 hand painted berry or fruit bowl dated 1866. This Victorian beauty measures 9-3/8" across and it features finely handpainted leaves, flowers and wild strawberries all in high relief. This bowl is similar to other antique Minton patterns however we haven't definitively identified it. It has the impressed MINTON mark (used from 1862-71, later MINTONS) and a date cypher resembling that used for 1866. A wonderful antique decorative pair of oval ornate Victorian period sterling silver bowls or baskets, fully hallmarked London, England 1895-96. These high style late Victorian dishes measure 6-3/4" x 5", and are just over 1" deep. They have high relief repousse Gothic designs and pierce-work panels, and they have a W.R.C. maker's mark for William Richard Corke. There is also a British registry number stamped in the rim of both bowls - it looks like RD. 248864. A 19thC Farrar Batiscan Quebec 4 gallon handled wine jug or crock, for the Marchand & Co spice, wine and liquor merchant. This 18-3/4" tall handled salt glazed stoneware jug still has the cork and it is completely hand thrown. It has a blue floral design identical with other known Farrar examples and it has a blue-wiped impressed legend stating "MARCHAND & CO MARCHANDS EPCIERES VINS ET LIQUEURS BATISCAN 4". Moses and Ebenezer Farrar were from Vermont, and they established one of the earliest stoneware potteries in Canada around 1840. Their first pottery was in St Johns Quebec, and later in Iberville Quebec. Their merchant crocks were usually not signed (by preference of the merchant, who was advertising their own goods). They closed somewhere around 1927, after the death of Ebenezer's son Georg H Farrar ((source: Early Canadian Pottery, Donald Webster, 1971). It is in very good condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some edge chips near the mouth and some original kiln burning to the blue design. This embossed pair of 19th century salt cellars are 2" in diameter and they feature floral embossing and scalloped rims; they are stamped with the lion/anchor/G Gorham mark, STERLING, 2235 (pattern number) with the Gorham 1889 year mark. The pair of 2-1/8" long sterling silver salt spoons also have the Gorham old hallmark with STERLING, and they are in the Colonial pattern by Gorham, which was introduced in 1885. This set of two salts and two spoons weighs 40.4 grams, and they are in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A Wm. Hutton silver plated Arts & Crafts egg stand for 5 with spoons circa 1900. This decadent egg serving stand consists of five 1-3/4" tall ball footed egg cups, the matching 4-1/2" ball-end egg spoons and the fitted 5-7/8" diameter base. The base is in the form of a deep round tray with mounting spikes for each egg cup which has a receptacle hole in the bottom; each egg cup retains some of its original interior gilding. The detachable screw-mound carrying handle has a rack for the five spoons and each piece has the maker's mark for Wm. Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, England. This fine set is in the Arts and Crafts style - simple, unadorned and functional. It has a 10019 pattern number and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs. An attractive c1900 silverplated cylindrical silverplated holder and matching etched glass vase by Meriden. This 9-1/2" tall vase features a lattice-style silverplated holder with a band of laurel leaves, holding the matching glass liner also with a laurel leaf band. It is stamped with the Meriden Canada mark and H 13. The plating is original, bright and intact, and this great table accessory is in excellent original condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a tiny 1/16" rim chip to the liner. A repousse sterling silver footed creamer made in Sheffield 1900. It is fully hallmarked for Sheffield, England 1900-1901. This 2-1/4" high serving piece has the maker's mark for either John Deacon & Son or John Dixon & Son, and it weighs 67 grams. This item is in mostly excellent condition with no breaks, corrosion, losses, repairs but it acquired some tiny edge dents on the right and left side edges from a recent disappearance (may need to expand the pictures to see it). A superb and top quality example of Austro-Hungarian glassmaking at its finest. This is a set of six shell shaped cranberry glass nut dishes c1900 with crisp molding and lush encrusted gold decoration. Attributed to Moser, this set is certainly of the expected quality but we can't definitively confirm this. The set consists of the deep 9-1/2" long and 7-1/8" wide master nut bowl as well as five matching 4-1/2" long and 3-3/8" wide individual nut bowls. The allover hand applied gold decoration is superb and it appears on the outer surfaces as well as on the interior. We have seen only a couple of examples of the smaller dishes only, never the full size master nut dish, and seldom in cranberry and rarely with such ornate decoration. A true prize for any serious collection of Moser or European art glass. This unsigned set appears unused, even after 110 years, and it is in stellar original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a 1/16" across flake to the edge of one of the individual dish's edges and the expected minor irregularities expected on hand-painted and hand-finished art glass.
