An E.J.D. Bodley Bamboo pattern trivet dated 1879. This 6-3/4" hexagonal shaped English bone china trivet was produced by E J D Bodley of Burslem, England. This plate has high relief bamboo decoration with a green border and thickly applied gold highlights; it has the English registry mark for a manufacture date of 1879 (this Bodley mark was used from 1875-92). It is stamped BODLEY B E.J.D.B Y3570 on the back, and this dinnerware item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. A quality late 19thC 750 silver jug with baronial crests by J Wagner and Sohn ( Son ) Germany. This antique 5-1/4" tall cream pitcher has a wrythen or twisted groove style and a thumb rest as well as classic hoof shape feet. It is stamped J. WAGNER & SOHN 750 M, it weighs 195 grams, and it has two finely engraved baronial heraldic crests engraved on one side indicating that it was probably originally a wedding present. A cranberry thumbprint pattern glass pickle cruet on a silver plated stand from the 1890 era. The ornate stand is 11-3/4" tall and it has a nice decorative design as does the original silver plated lid; it is stamped with the Standard Silver Co. mark, which was in business in Toronto before 1893 (they later merged with International in 1913). The cranberry glass liner/jar has a thumbprint pattern and it fits snugly in the rim on the base. Also included is a fine, contemporary pair of pickle tongs. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some tiny fleabites on the rim of the liner (very slight) and some minor loss to the plating on the stand. A Staffordshire figurine of a goatherd girl on a goat circa 1930 1850. This antique English figure dates to the early to mid quarter of the 19thC. She is hand painted painted fully on front, sides and back. 1830s -1860. It is a fine looking and well painted example reflecting the 19th century Victorian romanticism about farm and rural life with the advancing age of industrialism. People who lived on farms at the time would have found the concept of a girl riding a goat after gathering a basket of fruit possibly a little odd or possibly amusing. Meissen produced a pair of figurines of a tailor and his wife riding goats in the 18thC - possibly this figure was inspired by that. It measures 7 1/2" in height and is 5 1/2" at the widest. It is in mostly excellent condition except for one detail - the tip of the girl's foot is chipped. Other than that, it is in exceptional shape - no cracks, crazing or repairs, and the paint in in excellent shape. There is a firing crack on the back of the girl's neck, but it is original to the manufacture of the piece, and does not detract.We haven't been able as yet to find which English Staffordshire maker produced this. An antique Unger Bros sterling silver stamp safe or case circa 1890. This scarce late Victorian era 1-7/8" x 1-3/8" American sterling silver stamp safe has a lovely floral repouse design. This pocket stamp carrier is similar to a match safe in appearance, but smaller and without the striker edge. It has two circular cutouts on the upper edge for grasping the stamps. In the Victorian era, letter writing was a more popular pastime, so these boxes were a necessity to a well appointed desk. But not every writer had one, they are uncommon and are quite collectible today. It is stamped STERLING 925 FINE with the Unger Brothers maker's mark (they were in business 1872-1914), and it weighs 11.2 grams. This item is in excellent condition with no bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a few shallow and small barely noticeable dents. A Minton wild strawberries A2625 hand painted berry or fruit bowl dated 1866. This Victorian beauty measures 9-3/8" across and it features finely handpainted leaves, flowers and wild strawberries all in high relief. This bowl is similar to other antique Minton patterns however we haven't definitively identified it. It has the impressed MINTON mark (used from 1862-71, later MINTONS) and a date cypher resembling that used for 1866. This bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, damage or repairs other than some wear and loss to the paint on the high points of the design. This is minor and most apparent on one strawberry, a few leaves and the roots of the plants. An ornate Victorian or early Art Nouveau period silver plated belt circa 1895 - 1900. This antique hand engraved 25-3/4" long belt consists of a two-part 2-3/4" wide ornate buckle with tongue and loop clasp, which is attached to fancy 1-1/4" across hand engraved panels linked with wire loops with small spacers. It is stamped EPNS with an FFE maker's mark in a shield and it can be shortened by the removal of some of the spacers. A 19th c. hand painted toleware large tray. This decorative, vintage and stunning handpainted and signed large toleware display or serving tray dates to around 1860. This 24-3/8 x 19-3/4" painted metal tray features a large central basket of colourful and varied flowers; it has a floreate stepped edge and the G. J. Rudolph artist's signature. We have been unable to get any information on this artist, however the painting is superb. This all-original piece has slight and attractive alligatoring, and it is in superb original condition with no scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a few small spots of gilding loss around the rim. An early magenta transfer cup and saucer from the 1830s-1850s. This nice early example of transferware is a 2-3/8" high footed cup and matching 6" saucer with a fine magenta (purple/red) colour floral transfer with handpainted highlights. It has a painted 2/441 pattern mark and a formed fluted column design. The saucer is deep for drinking from (an 18th and 19th century custom) and it is typical for the era. A vintage Victorian English silverplated footed salver with fine hand engraving. This 19th century 12" serving tray features a scalloped edge with modified shell decorations; the engraving has shells, boughs, florals and fruits as well as a complex monogram in the center. An attractive Ridgways Chiswick pattern sauce tureen in the flow blue colour circa 1900. This 8-1/4" long and 5" high lidded two-piece English ironstone serving dish features dark blue flow decoration, it has the registry number 235284 (for 1894), and it is in very good original condition with no chips, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a tight and fully intact crack to the underside rim of the lid (see images). A rare, early English flow blue three piece soup tureen c1850-60. This tureen stands 11" high with the lid, and the matching, fitted underplate measures 14-3/4" x 13". It has a floral style motif, and it has an impressed S as well as a pseudo Chinese mark, minor variants of which were used by Charles Meigh (1835-49), Charles Meigh & Son (1851-61) and also Job Meigh (c1805-34), all of Hanley, Staffordshire; we feel it dates from c1850-60 but it could possibly be of earlier manufacture. The milk glass has nice orange fire when held to the light, and the leaves, feet and cherries are well formed. A scarce covered jar in the early American pressed or pattern glass Festoon pattern, issued by Beatty Brady Glass Co. (Indiana 1898). A 19th century Staffordshire flat back china cottage 1850-60s. It is the flat back type, and measures 4 1/4" high and 3 7/16" across. The colouration is simple - yellow ochre and rust-brown. It is overall in excellent condition for its age except for a small chip on the chimney and wear to the painted decoration. The bocage around the roof eaves is in excellent shape (very minor loss, not noticeable) and no cracks, crazing, staining or repairs. Cottages are hard to find, and this is a nice example. A Royal Nippon hand painted white green & gold floral jardiniere plant pot from the 1880s. This beauty measures 8-5/8" across the handles and it stands 4-3/8" tall on its four feet. The decoration includes white flowers with a bit of orange blush on a few petals, pale green ground and a medium green band under the flowers. It is lushly decorated with applied gold and it has lots of beading. The bowl itself if lobed and the handles are forked at the top. It is typically unmarked and dates to around 1880 (items had to be marked for country of origin after 1891). An Edwardian 15k Mother of Pearl and rubies button set in box 1900. These antique shirt or vest mother-of-pearl buttons have bezel set genuine ruby centers and 15k button attachment loops (unmarked but tested). It comes in the original box or case. This set consists of the 5-1/4 long leather-covered box containing six 15k gold and mother-of-pearl buttons plus six 15k gold spiral button attachment loops (unmarked but tested). A pair of early Staffordshire figurines of eagles on vermicular or marble painted bases from 1820-1850. These well modelled heavily gilded 19thC English earthenware eagles are 7-3/4" tall. Both have tilted heads and back-stretched wings. They have purple, yellow and orange marble-like painting on the simple rectangular shape bases. The mustard yellow rocky perches have a blue flower. They not signed with a manufacturer's stamp, unfortunately fairly common with Staffordshire figures. They are in very good, but not undamaged condition. One is undamaged with only a firing crack, which is original to the manufacture of the figurines (see image), and the other has had the lower portion of one wing and the head re-glued. Some wear to the gilding. The breaks and repair are quite clean and it could be restored professionally. The only pair of Staffordshire eagles I have owned in over 40 years selling antiques. The firing crack is very small with only small expected disturbances (including slight browning to the beak of one eagle) which don't detract from the appeal of these unusual figurines. A 19th century Japanese Kutani bottle vase. This well painted hand decorated 6-1/8" vase features gold decoration, floral and figural panels and decoration in black and orange. This is a 10-1/2" x 8-1/2" ball-footed swing-handle serving basket fully hallmarked for Sheffield, England 1895-6. Made by James Dixon & Sons, this basket has ornate repousse decoration in the bowl as well as attractive design to the ornate handle. It has a presentation inscription in the centre, as it was presented as a gift in September 1896, and it weighs an impressive 595 grams. Besides the hallmarks, it is also stamped 1618P and B3916, at least one of which refers to the design. This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A Martin Hall Victorian English silver plated meat dome. This 12-1/4" x 9-3/8" meat dome or cover was made by Martin, Hall & Co. of Sheffield, England (1854-1934). This table serving piece features a bolted and pegged finial with a wing nut and it stands 8-3/4" high. It is stamped 1127 EPNS with the maker's mark, and it is in excellent condition with no monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than one small penpoint protruberant dent and a nearby shallow penpoint dent. The plating is completely intact and this dome is in superb condition. A Canton enamel squash blossom jewel or trinket box from the 1880s 1890s. This lovely and large Chinese enamel on metal box measures 4-1/2 x 3-1/2" and it stands 2-3/4" high on its foot rim. It is nicely worked with a fine life-like appearance and the hand applied enamel is in yellow, green and blue. The interior is light blue as is the underside. It is (obscurely) marked CHINA on the bottom and it is in excellent condition with no chips, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs however it does have some small black firing marks and pits along with a couple of small surface losses to the enamel. This embossed pair of 19th century salt cellars are 2" in diameter and they feature floral embossing and scalloped rims; they are stamped with the lion/anchor/G Gorham mark, STERLING, 2235 (pattern number) with the Gorham 1889 year mark. The pair of 2-1/8" long sterling silver salt spoons also have the Gorham old hallmark with STERLING, and they are in the Colonial pattern by Gorham, which was introduced in 1885. A classy addition to your table. This is a two-handled 9-1/2" across silver plated round entree serving dish by Forbes Silver Co. This server features a fancy applied border on the lid and body, a swirl finial, and a detachable rim support on which can be rested a serving bowl. It is in excellent condition with no monograms, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a bit of bending to the lower edge of the detachable collar and some minor spots of shallow surface corrosion in the bowl. A wonderful antique decorative pair of oval ornate Victorian period sterling silver bowls or baskets, fully hallmarked London, England 1895-96. These high style late Victorian dishes measure 6-3/4" x 5", and are just over 1" deep. They have high relief repousse Gothic designs and pierce-work panels, and they have a W.R.C. maker's mark for William Richard Corke. There is also a British registry number stamped in the rim of both bowls - it looks like RD. 248864. They are heavier than the usual pierce-work English sterling dishes you normally find from this period - one basket weighs 81 grams, and the other 83 grams - and are a lovely quality pair of dishes. Other than a few minor rim bends, they are overall in excellent vintage condition, with no dents, monograms, corrosion, repairs or damage. It is an open edge, so this is restorable. A superb quality 19th century hand painted German porcelain double spills vase c1860-80. This decorative mantle piece measures 7-3/4" wide and it stands 7-1/4" tall; it is in the form of a boy at the seashore with waves and two shells acting as the vases. The painting and detail are superb, from the finely painted face to the realistic sand and the painted flowers on the boy's pants. It is marked simply 6371 on the bottom, and this vase is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. A pair of mid-19thC ornate Meissen style covered urns. This amazing and massive pair of mid-19th century French porcelain 19" covered mantle urns were made by M.S. Claus, France. They are fully hand painted and in the Meissen style, and both are extravagantly festooned with hand-formed and applied flowers and leaves. Each is topped with a similarly decorated lid, topped with a figure of a child. The colours are bright and vivid and they have the crossed swords mark for Claus and a 1777 pattern number. Each has had some restoration - the child with the umbrella finial has a repaired and repainted base and the lid has a large firing crack (on the interior edge and not visible when on display). It also has some gold wear to the lid's rim, and the base has a large area of restoration and painting to the upper rim and a firing crack to the outer shoulder. The other urn's lid has a similar interior firing crack, and the base has a similar repair to its rim as well (which also has a crack on the repaired area). Each urn has some minor expected chipping and losses to the flowers, and this pair is in very good/reasonable condition with a good appearance, and they could be completely restored if desired. A Victorian silver plate rolltop butter dish or server in the Aesthetic style from the 1880s. This antique beauty was made by Meriden and it has all of the hallmarks of quality and Victorian style and mechanical complexity. It has a pedestal base, a handle with floral decoration, high relief borders and a roll top with a pressed floral design. The rolling lid rests on two pins secured with a chained pinion and there are mounts on each side for a pair of butter knives. This steampunk item remains in reasonable condition with a few issues - one knife rest is missing (3 are intact), one side of one mounting bracket for the retaining pins is broken off, there is some pitting on the interior where a (now missing) ice liner would have been and there is a bit of plating loss on a few areas. The rolltop is functional and this would make a great decor item or table centerpiece (and a great "what is it?" for your next dinner party). An early 19thC blue saltglaze pitcher. This high relief early to mid-19th century 6-1/8" tall salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug has an allegorical scene with grapes and vines; it is unsigned and it has a nice medium blue colour. This item is in very good condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a firing crack around the bottom of the handle (original to the firing), a chip on the upper rim (with glaze infill, possibly later) and a barely visible shallow underglaze star crack on the bottom which doesn't interrupt the glaze or go through to the interior. A Georgian sterling silver large footed master salt dish dated 1817. This simply splendid high quality English Georgian silver open salt dish is fully hallmarked for London 1817. This 3-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" high bowl has fine high relief and rather unusual rim decoration of a lion head alternating with a shell, surrounded by flowers, with ornate floral feet. It retains the original gilding on the bowl as well. It is stamped with the maker's mark for William Elliot or William Eaton of London. It weighs an impressive 162.6 grams. It has a small lion rampant family crest engraving on one shoulder (not shown). One of the largest and most unusual Georgian silver open salts we have seen.
