The 1" x 1-3/8" pendant has an enamelled drop with a 5.2 mm genuine cultured pearl. The pin weighs 5.0 grams and the necklace 9.3 grams. All Items : Estate Jewelry : Silver : Edwardian : Pre 1910 item #1334376 (stock #7311)
A Pforzheim Germany plique-a-jour enamel Arts and Crafts necklace from the 1910 era. This stunning survivor from the Edwardian era was made in the Pforsheim area of Germany which was the center of such items. Plique-a-jour (French: "Light of Day") refers to the labour-intensive technique of repeatedly firing enamel in metal-bordered cells resembling cloisonne, resulting in unbacked transluscent panels. This fine example measures 1-7/8 x 15/16", it has a baroque pearl drop and a pink tourmaline in silver (800 grade or better) with pale lavender purple enamel panels. The best exponent of this work was the firm of Levinger & Bissinger who were prime exponents of the Jugendstil movement. Included is a contemporary associated arts and crafts 25-3/8" chain (stamped STERLING on the hook and eye clasp) from which is suspended the pendant on a 4-1/8" drop with a hook suspension. The pendant has an impossible to read mark which appears to be a diamond cartouche containing a B and a possible animal head - a silver mark but as yet unidentified. This piece looks like the work of Levinger & Bissinger but we are unable to definitively confirm it's one of their pieces. This rarity weighs 7.1 grams and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs; a couple of enamel panels show natural striations form their manufacturing process. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $40 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. A rare Bilston enamel cow patchbox with floral 1770-1790. This antique English Georgian period Bilston enamel patchbox or patch box features an enamelled lying cow on the top and a painted porcelain floral on the bottom circa. This 1-7/8" x 1-5/8" copper/brass mounted box was used to hold patches, the applied facial beauty marks popular at this time. The hand painted floral design on the underside is well painted, and the interior has a mirror and white enamel on the top's inside. All Items : Estate Jewelry : Silver : Deco : Pre 1940 item #985009 (stock #6306)
An outstanding Art Deco sterling silver enamel and marcasites pendant necklace circa 1930. The pendant itslf measures 2" x 1" (including enamelled bale loop). It features colorful matte enamel in of geometric flowers in lilac, yellow, orange, lime green, blue and black with various sizes of marquisites. Please note that the colors may appear several shades brighter in our pictures than they are in real life, and the blue is a light royal blue, not turquoise. It is stamped EN in a kidney-shaped cartouche and STERLING on the back - we are still researching the maker. it weighs 7.5 grams (pendant only). We were unable to find any corresponding information about this mark, at first glance it looks very much like a piece produced by the Theodor Farhner firm, who were well known for such fine matte enamel finishes and the extensive use of marquisites. It is shown with a very recent sterling silver chain which is not included. This item is in good condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion or repairs other than a visible loss to the red-orange enamel and a couple of very short surface abrasions to the blue (just visible with a loupe). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have signs of use as would be expected. Silver and silver plated items are hand-polished, not buffed, and our halogens and magnified images may exaggerate otherwise barely noticeable scratches and flaws. This antique 2" across pin was made by Blackinton of North Attleboro, Massachusetts (1862-1967), It was constructed from French baisse-taille enamel on sterling mounted with a pin assembly with a safety catch.
