An untitled oil on board painting by Lionel Macdonald Stephenson (Canada, 1854-1907) depicting a rocky shore line with island. Famous for his paintings of Fort Garry (Winnipeg, Manitoba), this 12-1/4" x 9-1/4" artwork is in a period (repainted) gold 17-1/2" x 14-1/2" frame. It is signed on the lower left, and it is in very good condition with a small scratch below the grouping of rocks, some dirt (a cleaning is warranted), and some losses and damage to the frame. A 19thC V. Loria Italy signed fishing boat watercolour. This Vincenzo Loria (Salerno, Italy 1849-1939) 23" x 12" unframed watercolour on (cardstock) board depicts a Neapolitan fishing boat on the water. An excellent painting for its play of light and detail, it is signed V. LORIA NAPOLI in the lower left corner. This painting does have some condition issues - a stain in the sky on the upper left, a few tatters on the extreme edges, some browning and minor fading, and some woodworm holes on the lower right in the water, visible more on the back. It also has a small assortment of old wormhole tracks on the cardstock on the back. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. A scarce and vintage 19th century framed lithograph on cardstock/board depicting two children carving a pumpkin. The picture measures 10-1/14" x 13-1/2" and it is in a gilt gesso 16-3/4 x 14" period frame. The print has various notations, including: FROM THE AMERICAN AGRICULTURIST, BF REINHART 1870, HENCKL & SCOTT (illegible), ENTERED ACCORDING TO ACT OF CONGRESS A.D. 1872 BY ORANGE, JUDD & CO. IN THE OFFICE OF THE LIBRARIAN OF CON(obscured). It has a tissue backing, and it is in very good vintage condition with no scrapes, foxing, losses, damage or repairs other than a lift and tear at the signature and some spotting and wear to the gilding on the frame. An evocative and well-painted framed 22-1/4" x 14-1/2" (sight size) English oil on canvas by Charles Cattermole (R.I., R.B.A., R.O.I. 1832–1900). Entitled "The Patrol's Return" on a mounted plaque on the 31-1/2" x 24" wood and plaster frame, this painting is signed CHAS CATTERMOLE on the lower right. The back has a Toronto gallery label from 1949 and the canvas is numbered 908 on the back. The image is clean with full colours and a glossy surface (and was most likely cleaned and revarnished in the not too distant past), and it is in excellent condition with no losses or damage to the canvas however there is moderate but noticeable plaster loss to the frame. An American Federal period portrait miniature of a lady circa 1800. This well painted antique miniature painting on ivory measures 2-5/8" x 2-1/8" is under a glass cover. The portrait features a woman with draped headdress and white dress. She is extremely well painted, and the case is leather over wood with a brass clasp. The cases were sometimes replaced over the years, so we can't that it is original to the portrait, although it may be. It is unsigned and the artist and subject are unidentified, with no provenance available. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, damage or repairs other than some loss to the silk interior liner and some minor wear and spotting on the leather. A vintage, original dated hand tinted copper plate stipple engraving by Francesco Bartolozzi dated 1786. This print measures 11" x 8-3/8" (imprint size) and it is in a later (c.1900) painted and gilt 14-3/4" x 11-3/4" frame. It has the following inscriptions: "Painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds", London. Published Dec 12th 1786 by E.M. Diemar, No. 114 Strand, and "Engraved by F. Bartolozzi, R.A. Engraver to His Majesty. The image is titled The Honourable Miss Bingham" and it has flesh and blue hand tinting. This item is in excellent original condition with no tears, foxing, image staining, fading, losses, damage or repairs other than some uniform paper darkening/acidosis and a water stain at the bottom 5/8" away from the paper border impression.
