An untitled oil on board painting by Lionel Macdonald Stephenson (Canada, 1854-1907) depicting a rocky shore line with island. Famous for his paintings of Fort Garry (Winnipeg, Manitoba), this 12-1/4" x 9-1/4" artwork is in a period (repainted) gold 17-1/2" x 14-1/2" frame. It is signed on the lower left, and it is in very good condition with a small scratch below the grouping of rocks, some dirt (a cleaning is warranted), and some losses and damage to the frame. An evocative and well-painted framed 22-1/4" x 14-1/2" (sight size) English oil on canvas by Charles Cattermole (R.I., R.B.A., R.O.I. 1832–1900). Entitled "The Patrol's Return" on a mounted plaque on the 31-1/2" x 24" wood and plaster frame, this painting is signed CHAS CATTERMOLE on the lower right. The back has a Toronto gallery label from 1949 and the canvas is numbered 908 on the back. The image is clean with full colours and a glossy surface (and was most likely cleaned and revarnished in the not too distant past), and it is in excellent condition with no losses or damage to the canvas however there is moderate but noticeable plaster loss to the frame. A charming vintage miniature pair of folk art paintings c1950s. This pair of miniature scenic view oil paintings depicts scenes the Gravenhurst, Ontario area. These 4-3/4" x 3-3/4" sight size paintings come in white painted 6" x 5" frames, and each was painted by May House. One shows "Muskoka Bay from Green Acres, W. Gravenhurst" and the other "Montgomery's Point + Gateway Hotel, from W. Gravenhurst". The kosher hotel (1949-1961) catered to Jewish vacationers from Toronto. A 19thC V. Loria Italy signed fishing boat watercolour. This Vincenzo Loria (Salerno, Italy 1849-1939) 23" x 12" unframed watercolour on (cardstock) board depicts a Neapolitan fishing boat on the water. An excellent painting for its play of light and detail, it is signed V. LORIA NAPOLI in the lower left corner. This painting does have some condition issues - a stain in the sky on the upper left, a few tatters on the extreme edges, some browning and minor fading, and some woodworm holes on the lower right in the water, visible more on the back. It also has a small assortment of old wormhole tracks on the cardstock on the back.
