All Items : Estate Jewelry : Silver : Mexican : Pre 1960 item #1303238 (stock #7133)
A striking vintage Mexican sterling pendant set with a mixture of inlaid lapis and malachite, with a large cabochon cut tiger eye gem in the centre c1950-60. Two of the dangling pendants are also inlaid with lapis and malachite, and the centre dangle is solid silver. The pendant alone measures 3-3/4" x 2-1/8", and weighs 26.2 grams. It is stamped STERLING 925 with the eagle mark with a 2 in the centre, and the initials MR. There was a silversmith named Melecio Rodriguez who worked at the Rancho Alegre and for Margot de Taxco, but I can't verify if this is his work or not. It comes with a 18-1/2" sterling heavy link chain (weighs 16.7 grams, not Mexican manufacture). It is in very good condition, but please note than there is 1/8" piece missing from the second inlaid drop of the pendant. Otherwise it is in lovely condition, no breaks, wear, repairs or damage. All Items : Antiques : Furnishings : Accessories : Boxes : Pre 1900 item #1303237 (stock #7132)
A superb quality 4-3/8" across Sorrento ware wood inlay trinket or jewellery box from the mid to late 19th century. This box stands 1-3/4" high and it has wonderful colour and workmanship. The sides feature red banding and a Greek key design in green, yellow and black with a brown ground. The top is the highlight, with literally thousands of individually placed fruitwood tesserae in a needlepoint-style flower and leaf panel decoration - the effect isquite similar to a carpet; the colours are bright and unfaded and the fine workmanship is remarkable. The interior of the box is olive wood. The condition of this unsigned, brass-hinged box is very good indeed for a box of its age and type, with only some very small barely noticeable losses and craquelure to the finish. There is a small loss along the edge of one corner panel, some minor lid warping to the hinge and front edge leaving small gaps, a thin crack and small corner losses to one lower red band on one side panel and the possible replacement of one half of one hinge with a non-brass one. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $24 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. All Items : Antiques : Decorative Art : Ceramics : English : Pottery : Pre 1837 VR item #1292119 (stock #7111)
A very rare set of (probably) English 9-7/8" plates in a variant of the original Blue Willow pattern. We haven't been able to accurately identify this pattern with its distinctive border butterflies in our books, however they are definitely Georgian. The porcelain is the expected light gray and the decoration is slightly blurred and each plate has the expected frit and minor variations from the manufacture of these items. It is quite unusual to find a matched set of four of these plates and one has a partial gold seal from the British Antique Dealer Association (B.A.D.A.) which guaranteed that the plates were over 100 years old at the time of sale (many decades ago). They are unsigned and are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a 5/8" loss to the surface glaze on the rim of one plate only. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $27 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. A rare Georgian whiskey barrel figural string holder. This superb, unusual vintage Georgian whiskey or ale cask figural string holder is from the 1800-30 era. String was a valuable and useful item in the Georgian home, and this holder could also have held embroidery thread for sewing. Made of beautifully figured rosewood with a great patina and trimmed with gilt brass bands held with hand made nails, this string dispenser has a detailed brass spigot through which the string emerges. There is a mounted steel cutting blade in the form of the spigot's handle, and the whole barrel sits on a rosewood plinth. The workmanship is superb, and it has remnants of a velvet-covered bottom. A scarce English Pratt ware Lord Nelson and Capt. Berry jug made between 1798-1806. We believe it was made to commemorate either the Battle of the Nile (a significant English military battle of 1798) or the battle of Trafalgar (1805), a most significant English military battle still commemorated today in England on Trafalgar Day. This 5-3/8" tall pitcher has stylized portraits of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and Captain Edward Berry with orange, brown, cobalt and green glazes on the high-relief modelling. Prattware is not often found in perfect condition, and this piece is not, either. This jug is un-restored except for a primitive and early reattachment of the bottom of the handle. There is some interior browning and staining, some overall crazing and some exterior browning on the spout. The bottom of the handle is missing and the bottom third has been crudely cemented in place. This jug is well worth having professionally restored, and it is a seldom seen English historic commemorative. It is in fair intact condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or damage other than stated above.
